January had passed quickly, the second task was nearing and Sophie still hadn't figured out the secret behind the egg unlike what her friends had thought. She was trying her best to figure it out but every time she opened it, even the littlest bit it let out the most piercing scream. She'd written to Remus a lot asking for help or if he knew anything about it but he couldn't help.
'Remus
Hey it's Sophie, I'm still trying to figure this egg out. It's impossible.
Viktor and Fluer have supposedly already figure it out and as for Cedric. Well he's my friend i don't wanna ask him about it and make him feeling I'm just using him, you get it?
Anyway enough about the task, how are you? Everything okay. Hope to see you soon Remus.
Sophie.'
It was 19th February and the next task was literally around the corner, every time someone had ask her how she was feeling about it and if she was prepared she would just simply nod and cut the conversation their.
Little did they know, Sophie still had to figure out what it was and prepare for it. All in five days, however serious the task was it would be nearly impossible for her to ready herself in that amount of time.
She had just finished potions with Snape when she ran into her old friend she hadn't spoken to in a while.
"Hey." He smiled pulling the girl into an empty classroom. "Good Christmas?"
"Yeah." She sighed. "How about you Draco, have a nice holiday?"
"It was alright i suppose." He said as his smile faded. "Galleon for your thoughts?" Draco asked.
"This stupid tournament." She huffed, throwing herself back into an empty chair. "I'm so going to die in the next task."
"Don't say that Potter." He whispered jumping back up onto the table. "What's happened? Have you no way to pass the task?"
"I wouldn't even know." She croaked. "I don't even know what it is."
"You don't know what it is?" He repeated, a bewildered face taking over his once cheerful one. "I would have assumed Diggory would tell you, you too are close aren't you?"
"Yeah." She said looking down at her feet. "If he doesn't want to tell me about it he doesn't have to and i refuse to ask. I don't want him thinking i only talk to him for this competition."
"That's stupid." Draco laughed. "Your so stubborn of course he won't think that, if you need help why shouldn't you be able to go to him?"
"Well i can't now any way." Sophie replied staring out of the classroom window.
"Why?" He asked.
"Because i already told everyone i knew what it was." She said twiddling her thumbs.
"You are an idiot." He laughed placing a hand on her shoulder. "Lucky for you, i overheard Cedric talking with his girlfriend about it and i know how your going to find out the clue."
"Really?" She asked a smile forming on her face. "What is it?"
"Easy there." He laughed again. "Meet me at the prefects bathroom, after dinner tonight."
"I- Why are we going to the prefects bathroom?" Sophie asked confusedly.
"Just do it." Draco said jumping down from the table and strutting over to the door. "And bring your egg."
And with that he was gone. Sophie, still confused mentally agreed and told herself that she would sneak away from dinner early to get the egg and then meet him at the bathroom. Oh how she hoped it was worth it.
