"Someone's sentimental today." Snape smirked walking circles around the siblings. They had been carrying on with Occlumency classes since returning to Hogwarts and they were getting a little easier but with all the commotion and new rules from Umbridge both Harry and Sophie were finding it hard to concentrate on anything other then hate for the woman.
"That wasn't for you." Harry snarled not taking the teacher on.
The lesson had only just started, Snape started with Harry for a change and already he was incredibly distressed, whatever that memory was was something deep.
"You don't have a choice Potter unless you learn to block it out, The Dark Lord won't not look into your mind just if you ask nicely." The potions master said aiming his wand at the girl now, "ligilimes!"
Sophie saw many moments that were crossing her mind just moments ago. From the night her and Fred danced, to the night they kissed and became boyfriend and girlfriend. Cedric's death again, her taking part in the tasks. Burning her letters during the summer, teaching Remus and Sirius how to bake cookies, which she was failing at miserably.
Then the memory came again, the one where her mother handed her to Remus. She didn't want to see that memory, she didn't want to think that she was in danger and then it changed. The girl watched herself open and envelope to a letter that Remus had sent, and that was one thing she didn't want Snape to see. Forgetting he was in her head she squinted her eyes tightly trying to imagine anything else, anything at all. She refused to let people know that.
"Very good Miss Potter." Snape nodded after being pushed out of the girls mind. "You getting there, although i would've liked to read more of that letter."
"It was private." She sighed, relieved that he didn't see what he said. Merlin knows what he would've thought about it.
"Yes i gathered that when you pushed me out." He spoke furrowing his brows. "Your free to leave, you've clearly improved I don't see why i should keep you here."
Any other day she would have stayed with Harry but she really didn't have the energy or the guts to watch her brother in pain, beside she had a detention to get too. She walked slowly through the empty halls of Hogwarts, it was nearing curfew but Umbridge had insisted on this time for their 'private' lines session, or that's what she thought it was going to be anyway.
Eventually Sophie found herself outside the defence against the dark arts teachers office, with no time left to stall as the teacher opened the door. Once again Sophie found herself in the same, pink, sickly sweet circular office she was sat in months ago only this time there wasn't a desk and chair ready for her. No parchment or quill no nothing, the room was empty other then the wooden, ugly desk in the corner.
"You need to learn to hold your tongue." The teacher spoke closing the door behind the girl.
"You need to stop insulting my family." Sophie shrugged.
"That's an extra minute." Umbridge cooed. "I hope this makes you learn your lesson Miss Potter, because i will not hesitate to do it again." The teacher aimed her small stubbly wand at the girl, "the cruciatus curse ought to do it."
"T-that's illegal." Sophie stumbled backwards, nocking herself into the wall behind her. She had heard of the curse before and she didn't feel like being struck with it.
"Nobody has to know about this do they." She raised her eyebrow at the cowering girl, she had finally gotten what she wanted out of Sophie. Fear. "Crucio!"
In no specific place alone Sophie felt pain. She felt it in her stomach, in her legs, her chest, her arm and her scar. Her scar was thumping and stinging maniacally at the encounter, her whole body ached and she fell to the floor in pain. She was kneeled in front of the teacher as the horrible woman just smiled. The only sound that could be heard was Sophie's cry, her voice was broken but loud enough to show fear. The pain was excruciating, she had never felt anything like it. She tried and tried to beg the teacher to stop but no sound other than a heartbreaking scream would come out. It carried on for what felt like hours until she felt nothing any more, her body was numb.
The only movement coming from the girl was her chest rising up and down rapidly, tears fell from her eyes as she lay there in shock at the situation she had just been in.
"Get up." Professor Umbridge announced walking over to her desk, she sat down watching the girl stumble to her feet and clutch her abs tightly. "Not a word of this, to anyone."
Sophie nodded timidly before practically running out of the classroom, she stumbled through the halls as tears leaked from her eyes. One hand was on her stomach and the other was rubbing the scar on her forehead in attempt to ease the pain that was still flowing through it. What sort of teacher was this woman and why did she enjoy this torture so much. Sophie was definitely not expecting that, at all.
"Sophie?" A voice whispered from behind the girl. "What's the matter?" Draco asked watching the girl cry slightly.
"I." Was all she could say before she broke down completely in the boy arms, he didn't complain or ask anymore questions, he just let it happen he let her cry, he let her hug him tight. "I can't." She shook her head before rising to her feet again.
"What?" He asked with a baffled look. "Sophie, you need to tell me if there's something wrong, i can't help you if you don't speak to me."
"I can't Draco, I'll be fine." She whispered looking down at her feet.
"Where have you been?" The blonde asked holding her shoulder, "where did you just come from, what happened. You can't expect me to just let you walk away, not after you were just crying like that."
"Draco please." She said again keeping her eyes to the floor.
"Is this because I'm apart of Umbridge's squad?" He asked holding the girls shoulders lightly to keep her still.
"What." The girl finally looked at him, a baffled look on her face. "I wasn't even thinking about that Draco, look i just can't tell you."
"Is it because you don't trust me?" He asked taking a step closer to her.
"Draco of course I trust you." Sophie whispered trying to take a step back but his arms were placed firmly on her shoulders so she couldn't move.
"Your not acting like it Soph, I'm only worried about you." He pleaded.
"Leave it."
"Sophie please," he stepped forward again.
"She said leave it Malfoy!" A voice yelled from down the corridor. "I've put up with the fact that your friends with my sister but do not push her to tell you something she obviously doesn't!"
"Oh look famous Harry Potter coming to the rescue, again." Draco snarled letting go of Sophie and facing her brother. "She's not a baby she can look after herself you know."
"Draco-"
"Oh yeah well maybe you should let her take care of herself rather than bombarding her with questions she doesn't want to tell you." Harry stood up straight in front of the boy, even though Draco was taller than him he didn't back down.
"Harry-"
"Oh yeah well then maybe you should be doing the brotherly thing and holding her in your arms when she's crying instead of me then!" The blonde fought back.
"Draco-"
"I was with Snape, and she was in a detention with Umbridge so if you used your common sense you would have come to the conclusion that, that vile teacher has done something to her!" He spat getting even more closer to the boy. "Now if you really care about her you will leave the argument here and let me take care of my sister Malfoy."
"Umbridge made you cry like that?" Draco turned to ask the girl, he looked a bit taken back by Harry's point. When the girl slowly nodded he backed up a little before walking down the corridor without another word.
"Are you okay?" Harry asked sympathetically wrapping an arm around his sisters shoulder and bringing her in for a tight hug. She just nodded slowly into his chest before they grew apart and made their ways silently to the common room.
I know this is a really short chapter but I'm at a loss for ideas. These are really fillers tbh, i have something big planned for the book. I'm trying to skip the time a bit but not rush it too much as i feel i've already dragged it out and you guys are going to get bored.
I'm like six chapters in front of you and i need to stop myself from posting them all at once.
