Dead, alone, gone.

Sophie sobbed for what felt like hours beside her best friend. No doubt her eyes were all red and puffy, her lip was trembling as she attempted to swallow down the bile racing through her throat. She could've helped him, she could have saved him. Instead she stood there, watching. Waiting for it to happen.

"Sophie." She heard a voice whisper behind her. She screamed, trying to keep tight clutch on the boy as her god father ripped her away wrapping his arms around her shaking body. "Soph please just calm down." He ushered stroking the matted hair from her head.

Cedric's father had rushed from the crowds by now and was knelt down in a similar position Sophie had previously been in. He cried harshly into his sons lifeless body praying and hoping it was all just a dream. A dream he would awaken from and he'd be congratulating his son with a trip to the Three Broomsticks.

"Harry." Sophie's tears stopped thinking back to what Voldemort had spoken to her about moments before hand. "Harry." She whipped her head round now facing Remus looking him in the eyes. "Where's Harry?" The girl asks rapidly spinning her head looking for him in every direction. "Harry!"

"It's fine he's okay." Lupin said patting her head again in attempts to calm her down. "He saw you crying and made a break for it but when you weren't moving Moody took him back to the castle."

Moody, no. The girls mind raced with possibilities. "No." She blurted breaking free from her god fathers grasp and pelting towards the large castle in the distance ignoring the calls from her friends behind her.

Sophie's feet were doing all the work for her, water still slowly pouring from her eyes as she ran against the nights breeze, through the entrance hall and into the dark corridors of Hogwarts. "Harry!" Her voice echoed as she jumped up the moving staircases, two steps at a time. "Harry!" She circled the corner and to her surprise there stood, Professor Dumbledore, Professor McGonagall and Professor Snape all holding back a tall, scrawny man. His brown hair stuck to the side of his head in sweat and his deep brown eyes stared right into hers.

"The Dark Lord should have had you tonight little Potter." His creepy voice rang in her ears as he thought the teachers grip. "Just like your parents you should be dead, alone, gone." The mans spit flies towards her as the teachers try their best to drag him past the girl. Only when they get to the end of the corridor does he shout again making her heart stop. "I should've waited till you died that night! I should have cast the curse again!" Her knee's give way and she drops to the floor in tears as the memories of that night come flooding back, almost as if she was reliving it.

'Another Potter?' A voice questions loudly over the distant screams and whistles of the wind. 'Who would've thought James and Lily Potter had twins' it cooed. 'And it slipped right under the Dark Lords nose'

A figure emerged from a burning tent, right in view of the girl. But Sophie was frozen, she couldn't move she could only watch. Watch as the figure came closer and closer aiming it's wand directly at the girl, no mistake.

'What should we do with you' the voice chirped, the man circling the girl as she stood their breathlessly, her eyes slowly following his. 'Save the great lord an extra task? Wait for his return so he can take care of you? I think not' it laughed stopping inches away from her face.

Sophie could feel the mans cold breath on her face as she stood there trembling in fear, searching the mans eyes as if she was lost. 'Little Potter' his voice croaks again. 'Little Potter all alone, forever alone.'

The mans hands move from his sides to hers, gripping at her wrists as she tries to yank them back. 'You can't escape me little girl.' He chortled watching her struggle. 'Little Potter, new to the family. Did you really think they'd except you? Welcome you with open arms.' He drew himself closer to the girl intimidating her. 'Hah, don't make me laugh. That is why they gave you up after all, why they left you. Gave you away'

'Stop' she mumbled pulling away again.

'Little Potter is fighting the truth.' He mimics gripping her wrist tighter as she attempts again to pull away. 'Don't test me Potter' he hissed removing one of his hands only to now clutch her neck. 'I think i know what to do with you.'

'Avada Kedavra'

"Sophie." Harrys voice over comes all the others dragging her back to reality, dragging her back to Hogwarts. "Sophie it's okay." He mumbles, wrapping his arms around his sister. "I'm here, okay I'm here."

She soon finds herself entangled in her brothers arms, sobbing lightly in his chest. They spent at least an hour holding each other, never once did Harry try to take her away. He simply sat with her, listening to her cry and feeling her heavy breathing and in that moment his heart mourned for his sister. It ached, it pained and it cried. Watching his only family break down in front of him hurt and from that moment on. He promised himself he'd do anything to protect her, he'd die a thousand times over again to make sure she lived, just like she did her best friend.

The only question is, was that a lie?

Would he fail, break, or forget his promise one day?

Only time will tell, and that time was ticking.

The only voices ringing in her head at that moment as she sobbed uncontrollably. 'Dead, alone, gone.' And she cried harder then she thought she could, that voice. The voice of that man, the voice of Voldemort ringing in her ears reminding her. Reminding her she should be as they said, 'Dead, alone, gone.'

"Cedric Diggory was one of the brightest students Hogwarts had ever had, he was a fighter and a lover." Dumbledore roared through the quiet crowds of children all lined up together in the Great Hall. All the decorations were black, grey any dark colour they could find was somewhere there. Sophie was dressed in a short black dress showing off her shoulders, she was wearing black velvet heels and a small glittery bow placed neatly on the top of her high ponytail.

"Mr Diggorys passing was a shock to us all, and whilst his body is not with us but with his father his spirit is seeing you all off. He wouldn't want us to mourn his death but celebrate his life." The headmaster shouted through the crowds but surprisingly keeping his voice in a respectful manner, excepting the quiets sniffles here and there. "His presence will always be with each and every single on of you, and to his closest of friends he will always be cheering you on, remember that. Mr Diggory did not die in vain."

Sophie couldn't help the tears that had plucked in her eyes. By now she was sure her eyes were glowing with the water mixed within them. She was stood between her boyfriend and her brother taking the tall twins arm to help her stand. She sobbed lightly into the dark handkerchief she has been given from Ginny as she watched the sky above fade into a distant sunset. If only she was quick enough to save him, if only she had beat that small grubby man to it. She could have saved him and that's what haunted her the most.

"It is to honour our fellow Hufflepuffs life that we do not keep the secret to how he was taken." The headmaster said in a quieter tone. "It wasn't an accident. It was a murder. Cedric Diggory died in the hands of previous student, Tom Riddle. More commonly know as Lord Voldemort." He said, gasps and chokes filling the air. Students whispers were heard from all around the hall and Sophie's eyes had squinted shut at the name, she knew who caused his death and she hated every bone in that mans body for it. "Please do not let his life be shamed upon, he died a hero and he will forever be known for that. To Cedric Diggory."

"Too Cedric Diggory." Sophie repeated, slowly breaking down again at her friends disposal.

'To Cedric Diggory.'
