"Yeah I've heard of him, worked with my parents." Mason said one weekend, it was the day after the full moon and Sophie had been kept in the hospital wing, credits to the large gash in her side. She was filling Mason in on her conversation she had with that strange man in the portraits, the one who knew all of the marauders as they claimed to be.

"Your parents?" Sophie asked closing the charms book she was reading and placed it onto the beside desk.

"Yeah, my parents were in Slytherin." He nodded. "Death eaters." Mason was also in the infirmary, he looked incredibly sick too they were in beds next to each other.

"Wow really, never expected that." She laughed. "What are they like then?"

"Dad's dead mum's an asshole." Mason shrugged. "Don't like me cause I'm a hufflepuff, i stay out of her way she stays out of mine."

"So she doesn't want you to join?" She asked looking over at his sad face.

"Never said that did i." He chuckled. "Course she does, i can tell. She's never actually spoken to me about it though."

"Oh right." The girl whispered lifting up in her bed wincing at the pain a little.

"It's alright, I won't join them unless i have too." He voiced. "What about you who's side you on?"

"You'd wanna know." She chuckled, "not entirely sure yet. I mean i don't wanna fight alongside you know who, not after taking my parents from me anyway." Sophie said looking down at her aching hands. "But i don't know if i'll be allowed to fight for Dumbledores side."

"How come?" Mason asked.

"No reason, just don't know if my family will let me." She smiled sadly, of course that wasn't the reason. Her fury problem was.

"There's a letter here for you." Madam Pomfry made an entrance walking over to the two covered beds. "From Slughorn."

Sophie took the letter with a smile and opened it slowly as the witch walked away. "Slug club?" She questioned after reading the letter, the boy beside her let out a laugh. "Shut up you." She giggled throwing the letter at him. "Fancy a Christmas party."

"You've already missed dinner with him recon he'll let you go to the party?" He said reading over the letter.

"Don't see why not, I've had a perfectly reasonable reason to have missed it. Plus being part of Slug club seems cool." She laughed.

"You ready to go yet? Quidditch match is on, Slytherin and Gryffindor." Mason wiggled his eyebrows stepping out of his bed and changing behind the large curtain beside his bed.

Sophie followed suit grabbed her chocolate bar and then followed the boy out of the infirmary and down to the great hall. No one was there, a part from a couple ravenclaws with their heads in books. The pair decided to make their way outside and towards the pitch greeted with excited cheers and shouts as each team made their way out of the changing rooms. Sophie giggled to herself before finding Hermione in the crowd and taking a seat beside her.

"Shouldn't you be with the Hufflepuffs?" She asked the boy who had followed Sophie, not in a rude way though she said it with a smile.

"Why, cheering for the same team." He shrugged taking a seat beside the brunette.

"How was everything, alright?" Hermione whispered to Sophie just so only she could hear.

Sophie didn't look at her, she kept her eyes on her brother and nodded, not to be rude but so she didn't attract much attention to herself. It was quite weird that Mason had been there too when she woke up, curtain an all, he had been looking a bit off the past couple of days to so it must have just been that, she thought.

The match was going well, Ron had successfully managed to block most of the Slytherins quaffles, making it 50-20 in favour of the Gryffindors. Sophie even noticed a small smile on Hermione's face every time he did so. The new commentator, whoever it was Sophie had never met before but they were nowhere near as enthusiastic as Lee had be but all's well the job got done.

After another half a hour, with the quidditch game not looking like it was ending anytime soon Sophie had told Hermione she was writing a letter to Remus and wanted to send it before it was too late. Mason had insisted on coming with her, and as nice as it was it was getting quite annoying, always having him around but she was too kind to say so.

"So, how long you been talking to him through letters?" Mason asked as they walked towards the owlery, hands in his pockets.

"Who Remus, quite a while he's like a dad to me i suppose." Sophie shrugged climbing up the many stairs.

"Like a dad?" Mason repeated. "What do you live with him?"

"Yup." She nodded ignoring the strange feeling she was getting from all of his questions. "And Harry's."

"Harry's what?"

"Godfather you spoon."

"What so you all live together then, like a big family?" He raised his eyebrows at the girl, they had finished climbing now and Sophie had called her owl down from the high shelf. "Where?"

"We are a family." Sophie knitted her eyebrows as she tied the letter to Layla's leg, "London."

"London cool." He nodded biting down on his lip. "So, you going there for Christmas then or you planning on staying."

"Going to the Weasleys for Christmas, that's what this is about." She gestured to her bird as she handed out a treat and watched her fly away. "You?"

"Home." He shrugged. "Keep in touch?"

"Over two weeks?" She laughed, christmas break wasn't that long but she did understand what his family were like based off of his stories. "Sure why not."

"Cool." He said, this conversation was getting incredibly awkward now. "Hey how come you were in the hospital wing this morning anyway?" He had asked once they had walked through the entrance hall again.

"Just had a bad stomach ache last night, Hermione told me it'd be best to stay overnight Pomfry agreed." She lied, she never had to do that before it felt strange. Every one who had asked already were her friends, who she trusted. Mason was her friend but she couldn't help but not want to tell him. "How about you?"

"Same." He mumbled. "See you tomorrow will i?"

"Don't count on it, sunday I'll be sleeping all day." Sophie smiled heading up the last stairs outside the Gryffindor common room. "Night Mason."

"Night Soph."

One thing Sophie didn't expect was turning to enter the common room and having a crying Hermione shove past her. She watched as she ran straight down the stairs and down the left corridor before Harry came running after.

"What's the matter with her?" She asked.

"Doesn't matter, I'm gonna go see if she's okay go and, talk to Neville or something." He yelled following his friend through the school.

Really? She thoughts, go talk to Neville? Fine.
