Weeks upon weeks past, the winter breeze was quickly washing away as March came to an end, clouds dimming and the sky shining blue. However the dark greyness continued to lurk across the greens, through the villages and around the coasts. Voldemort was still out there, as was Harry as was Mason. Sophie however was stuck on her death bed, food being brought to her, only being able to take a walk with company. She was in utter pain, mentally as well as physically.
She didn't know how long she had left, months? Weeks? Maybe even days. But she felt no motivation to enjoy it. Remus and Sirius couldn't come and see her, they didn't want to give away the Weasleys whereabouts, she understood that but being away from them as well as Harry only made her heart ache more.
The girl was leaning against the wall, watching the light rain pat on her window and she breathed heavily. To be out there now, twirling around in the cold, jumping in the puddles with her friends—if only. She closed her eyes and took a long breath trying to find the image in her head she smiled.
"Sophie?" A quick knock came to the door. The silence was gone, followed by the peace. "Sophie it's me, we need to talk."
She knew that voice, "come in," she coughed brutally. She tucked away her loose hair and crossed her legs, wiping a hand across her chapped lips whilst doing so. She waiting patiently as Fred opened the door and closed it, staring at the wood for a minute before turning around. She saw the look in his deep, beautiful brown eyes fade, did she really look that bad?
"Sophie," he exhaled walking over to the bed. He sat softly and grabbed her small hand in his, running his thumb along the back of it. "First of all, you look awful," he stuttered, his eyes looking anywhere but hers. "Secondly, I'm so sorry I didn't mean for any of what happened to happen, like I said before you just caught me off guard. Then when I heard what happened to you I felt awful and I needed to know you were okay but when you got here and ignored me, I well."
She listened intently to the boy she loved ramble, of course she still loved him, she always would. But whilst she didn't have the energy to argue she also didn't have the strength to keep quiet. "Are you apologising to me because I'm dying?"
A silence overcame the two. Fred stared at the sick girl with confusion and hurt in his eyes, he opened his mouth to retort but he couldn't find the words. Sophie nodded, which triggered his sentence.
"You think I'd try to fix a relationship based off of the well-being of the other?" He asked calmly though he had a look of anger in his features. "Really Sophie? Do you even know me?"
"Of course I know you," she sighed. The strength to keep herself sat up right killed, never mind a pointless argument. "But tell me honestly, would you be apologising if I wasn't going to die."
He closed his eyes tight, bit down on his lip and looked away. What was he trying to hide? His tears or his anger. Both of which showed in his next statement, "don't say your going to die."
Sophie scoffed. "Well I am, better prepare for it then wear a face like a slapped arse when it happens."
"How can you talk so freely?" He asked making eye contact. "How can you sit there all relaxed when you don't even know if you'll make it to next week?"
"Because I just can," she said outloud keeping the fact she had nothing to live for bottled up. "I prefer knowing what's going to happen anyway, I'll be ready for it."
"So then let me apologise," he pleaded. "Please Sophie, I love you with all my heart and I want you to realise that, sooner rather then later."
Tears grew in her eyes, she wanted to stay strong, to keep the emotion barricaded out, but she couldn't, not when the boy she loved was practically begging her to love him back. She didn't say a word, turning her head to face the window she sighed. The next noise she heard was the clicking of the door, signifying Fred Weasleys exit.

"You've gotta forgive him at some point," Ginny said as the pair walked around the back garden. They had been out there for a while, Sophie sat in a small rocking chair watching as the youngest Weasley picked small daisies.
"I have forgiven him," the brunette shrugged. She had multiple daisy's sat in her lap as she twisted them around her fingers making a long chain.
"So why aren't you telling him that?" The other girl said standing up, she turned around and looked at the sick girl, confusion written all over her face. "Why are you letting him think you haven't?"
"Ginny, your one of my best friends," Sophie sighed deeply. "I'm not letting him know because I'm dying, I don't want to make him happy only to lose me a day later."
Ginny laughed. "That is the most stupidest thing I've ever heard!" She said walking over to the small rocking chair and sitting beside it. "And I'm your friend, I've listened to stupid."
"How is that stupid?" Sophie said knitting her eyebrows. "It's the best way."
"So you'd rather my brother live his life thinking the one girl he ever truly loved doesn't love him back, or never forgave him?" She said matter of factly. Ginny was one to talk you out of things or to make you see the stupidity in your plan. She always knew what to do when hell broke loose and she was strong enough to pull everyone through it. "Sophie I'm your best friend and I don't want to hurt your feelings but that is the biggest piece of shit I've ever heard."
Sophie stared, mouth gawped open and eyes staring at her. "I don't," she said not being able to find the correct words. "I just don't know what to do."
Ginny gave her a sad smile and rose from beside her, wrapping her arms tightly around the teary girls shoulders she placed a small kiss to her head. "Everything's going to be okay. I promise."
