be grateful

Apparation was never the finest experience the two had lived through, Sophie would rather her lungs be corrupted by rushing water then having to permanently use apparation as a transport mechanism. She definitely didn't expect to be hit by something blinding as soon as she landed too, flying backwards she grunted as her back collided with something hard the continents on the shelves falling around her.

"Sophie!" she heard being yelled across the shop. George's voice sounded worried but also hoarse, he himself was struggling against spells being shot his way. Ginny had watched the event from the corner, being tackled by two clocked figures she shot spells every time she could, her older brother by her side helping her out.

A tall figure made its way over to the defenceless girl lay in pain, blood dripping from her head as she tried to focus her surroundings, nothing but a ringing noise could be heard. "Well well well if it isn't miss Potter?" a familiar voice croaked it came closer to her, kneeling down before her. "He'll be happy when we bring you back."

"Get away from her!" Yelled a voice from behind, a spell was shot from Fred Wealsey's wand as he watched the girl in fear, the man in front was blasted away instantly, leaving Sophie to herself in the corner before Fred was tackled back into another fight.

The frightening even that had happened shocked the girl, scuffling as far back as she could she became numb to the pain of another hit to her back. Looking at the event playing before her she saw four remaining death eaters attack the three Weasleys. She hated watching her friends struggle, she didn't want anything to happen to them. Scurrying around the floor in search of her wand she wasn't immune to the yells that her friends were letting out, the spells that hit them and the defences that attacked the hooded figures.

Finally, in the corner of the store she found her own weapon, kneeling over quickly to grab it she ignored the dizziness as she shot a spell at the five figures, "reducto!" was the chosen curse, sending objects flying, flinging the enemies through the glass windows. The panting of Sophie's breath was the only thing heard for the next few minutes.

"What the bloody hell was that?" Fred had asked as he stalked over to the girl, checking her injuries, only to be shoved away by her arm. "How long have they been here?" he asked his brother.

"Well if you lot hurried up I could've done what I came here to do hours ago," he smiled before jumping onto the counter and resting in hope of steadying his breathing again. Even at a time like this the Weasley twins couldn't be mature and drop their sarcastic nature.

"Your such a but head," Ginny said to him, taking her own seat on the floor and placing her hands on her knees as she fought for fresh air.

Sophie burst out into a fit of giggles, soon followed by the two brothers and finally the youngest there. Not being able to control their laughter at the sight of each other they held their stomachs in pain. It was serious what had just happened, but they had made it out alive and were easily humoured by the girls poor insult choice.

"Here," Fred whispered handing out a cup of hot chocolate for the girl. They had all ventured to the abandoned flat, cleaning up their injuries and finding a change of clothes. Sophie, having had nothing there, ended up in a pair of Ginnys sweat pants and a large Weasley jumper, but she wasn't complaining, she thought it comforting.

They were all sat in the kitchen as the sun had began to set, the warm air of May filtering the once cold apartment. Sophie took the drink with a smile, blowing it slightly before taking a sip, all of which Fred had watched in awe, he found the girl beautiful. No matter what the event he thought she was the most prettiest person in the world, he could watch her forever without getting bored, he guessed that thats what love really was.

He knew, a long time ago, that he wanted to spend every second of the day with her, since meeting her at Hogwarts and getting closer to her everyday to now, hiding out in his old home whilst death eaters marched the streets whilst looking for them. He knew he didn't care where else he could be right now, as long as he was by her side, as long as he always were.

"Do you think they're all okay?" Ginny broke the silence, "I mean it's been months and we haven't heard a single thing from any of them. Yeah dads updated us when he can but it'd be a whole lot easier if one of them could give us a personal statement."

Nodding Sophie agreed silently, she really did want to see her brother again, under their own circumstances of course, know he's alright. She couldn't help but feel guilty, they were twins for heaven sake and here she was, sat in a comfy apartment kitchen, hot cocoa in hand whilst he was out there doing god knows what, fighting god knows who.

"They're all strong ones," George whispered, "we're all worried about them Gin it's only normal but we have to have faith, we have to be grateful."

"Grateful about what George?!" she yelled a little loudly, Fred shushing her as lurking figures in cloaks walked past, "why should i be grateful that these guys may die for us?" Sophie winced, the eldest ginger holding his hand on her shoulder for comfort.

"You should be grateful that no matter how hard times are getting and how rough battles are becoming that those three teenagers are still out their fighting, risking their lives for millions of wizards and witches they may have never met," George argued back, showing just as much resilience she had first showed, "be grateful they're trying."

"You think I dont know that?" she shot back, "you think im not aware that my friends, my family are trying to protect us all?" Slumping back in her chair she let out an angry huff, "that's exactly my point, that's the exact reason I'm angry George, they are children! they are teenagers risking their lives for wizards all over the place they'll never meet."

Standing up in rage George made eye contact with his younger sibling, looking at her with almost a hint of disgust, "they're being selfless Gin. Maybe you should try it sometime!" he spat before leaving the room, slamming the bathroom door before locking himself in.

Sophie and Fred made eye contact, shaking her head at the older boy she stood from her seat and sat next to the girl on the couch. Leaning her head on the gingers shoulder before whispering, "I'm scared too Ginny."

The next few minutes went by quickly, the only noise that was heard where the three's breathing, and a distant running tap. Sophie remained still, leaning into the younger girls side, hoping she was doing nothing but easing the girls nerves, after all she felt the same way.

A small noise sounded through the kitchen, a vibrating shuffle coming from the cutlery draw. Confused expressions filtered throughout the air as Fred made his way over, opening the draw he looked down in the somewhat empty space, his jaw dropping once he caught sight of the humming coin.

Picking it up and lifting it into the air slowly the girls heads turned as George came running back into the same room, a similar coin in his own hand. The two twins made eye contact before turning to their little sister, she jumped from her seat and pulled the same coin from her back pocket, Sophie springing to her feet too; she knew exactly what that meant.

They all stared at each other for a minute, fear incredibly presentable in their posture. Taking deep breaths and swallowing nervous lumps, "it's happening," they said together.
