Only when Cedric and Sophie stood upright again did they realise they were no where near the school, or its gigantic maze for that matter. They were surrounded by large, dull headstones sticking out of the ground which looked like it stretched for miles. A small cave like dome facing them and exactly behind them was a large grim reaper like statue on a large grave stone that read.
'Riddle'
Sophie and Cedric instantly lock eyes, the cup was lying a few metres away from their feet almost sulking in the grass. "You okay?" He asks, full of concern.
The wind whips through the girls hair creating a creepy breeze, crows flying from grave to grave making everything seem so much more mysterious. "Yeah." Sophie breathes looking around her surroundings.
"Where even are we?" He asks again walking over to a headstone and examining it closely before moving to another.
"I presume we're in a graveyard Ricky." She laughs, mostly to stop creating tension. You couldn't deny the fact that the pair of them were quite nervous and ultimately frightened about where the cup had taken them.
"It's a port key." Cedric laughs kneeling towards the glowing cup. "Soph look." He said pointing towards it before walking off in the other direction and taking a closer look at everything.
Sophie's finger scans over the writing on the grave reading the name continuously in her head, where had she heard that name before. Something didn't seem right, she thought. "I think we should go Cedric." She mumbles.
"Why, what's the matter." He asks still looking around avoiding eye contact with the girl.
"This isn't where we're supposed to be, come on." She whispers more to herself then her company. But both of them are disturbed by a loud creaking noise coming from across the field, a small, man with messy hair (barely any at all) and rotten grubby skin appeared from an opened door beneath the dome like cave.
"Get back to the cup!" Sophie yelled before her feet completely gave way and she dropped to the floor. The small man walked closer to the two, a lit cauldron stood before them bubbling slightly.
"Sophie are you okay." Cedric called holding Sophie's shoulders helping her to her feet again. "What happened, who's that?"
"I don't know." She whispered stumbling back uncontrollably.
Only does Cedric let go of the girl when the man comes closer, standing in a threatening way the boy holds his wand out towards the rat like thing, making sure his friend was secure behind him. "Who are you!" He bellows watching the man walk towards the cauldron a small wrapped object in hand. "Stay back!"
A menacing voice fills the air, flowing with the wind mixing in with it's own current blasting past Sophie's ears. The man stuck his wand up with trembling hands aiming it right at the boys chest.
'Kill the boy'
And on command a green strike plummeted towards Sophie's best friend striking him straight in the heart. His body fumbles backwards and hits the ground impenetrably and Sophie jerks at the sight in front of her. "Cedric!" She screams, her heart pounding against her chest her finger nails digging into her palms as she clutched her fists in pain. "Cedric no." She cries launching herself towards the lifeless body.
"Don't leave me please." She sobs into his chest. "You can't go." Her cries only grow louder and louder as she watches the once happy boy fade into a lifeless coma of sleep. His eyes paling ad death takes his soul for his own. "I promised you." The girl breaks down right on scene clutching the boys shirt trying to pull him back to life.
