Riana's POV
I've been called to Professor Lupin's office. But I don't know why. I haven't done anything. Haven't broken any rules or anything. But I go to his office early, straight after dinner. He did want me there at eight. However, I'm sure he won't mind me being early.
As I walk to his I find him struggling with heavy chest. "Need help?" I ask him. He smiles and nods his head. I grab one handle and he grabs the other. We carry it to his office. I hear something moving inside. "Is this another boggart?" I ask him curious.
"Sure is, I'll explain everything when we reach my office" he tells me. I nod my head. We soon reach his office and put it down by his desk.
"So, what's this all about?" I ask him. "Why did you summon me?" I ask.
"Harry wishes to learn how to fight dementors encase they show up at his next match. So I will be teaching him the patronus charm" he explains.
"And his boggart is a dementor, brilliant" I tell him. "But, why am I here?" I ask him confused.
"I remember you produced a corporeal patronus on the train. I thought Harry might like a friend being here and to help him in between lessons" he states. "If you are ok with that?" he adds.
"Sure, anything for a friend" I tell him with a smile. "When will Harry be here?" I ask him.
"Eight o'clock" he states. "Mind helping me finish preparing?" he asks me. I tell him it was no problem and help him set up.
(Time Skip)
Harry finally arrived while I relaxed having a blood pop. "The spell I am going to try and teach you is highly advanced magic, Harry -- well beyond Ordinary Wizarding Level. It is called the Patronus Charm" Remus explains.
"How does it work?" Harry asks him.
"Well, when it works correctly, It conjures up a Patronus" I tell him.
"Which is a kind of anti-Dementor -- a guardian that acts as a shield between you and the Dementor" Professor Lupin explains.
"Where did you learn it?" Harry asks me curious.
"You know I've always enjoyed Defense Against the Dark Arts. I'm always looking up new spells to learn. I found this one last year and learned" I explain. "I learnt a lot of spells last year as I never went to that fraud's classes" I state.
"Anyway, the Patronus is a kind of positive force. A projection of the very things that the Dementor feeds upon; hope, happiness, the desire to survive. But it cannot feel despair, as real humans can, so the Dementors can't hurt it. But I must warn you, Harry, that the charm might be too advanced for you. Many qualified wizards have difficulty with it" Lupin explains.
"That's true, it took me awhile to learn it. But you have two people to help you learn it" I tell Harry. He smiles looking grateful.
"What does a Patronus look like?" he asks me.
"I'll show you" I say with a smile drawing my wand. "Expecto Patronum" I say and wave my wand. A silvery vampire bat flies out of my wand. It flies around my room once, before disappearing into thin air. "Now keep in mind, each one is unique to the wizard or witch who conjures it" I tell him.
"You conjure it with the incantation, which will work only if you are concentrating, with all your might, on a single, very happy memory" Lupin explains.
"Expecto Patronum?" Harry asks and we nod both our heads.
"Try it while thinking of a happy memory" I tell him. He takes out his wand and starts to practice the charm. On the third try something whooshed suddenly out of the end of his wand; it looked like a wisp of silvery gas.
"Did you see that? Something happened!" Harry says excitedly.
"Well done Harry" I say with a smile.
"Right, then -- ready to try it on a Dementor?" Lupin asks him. Harry nods his head holding his wand tightly. "Riana please be ready to step in if needed" he tells me. I nod my head and keep a hold of my wand.
After several failed attempts. Harry finally produced a huge, silver shield between him and the boggart Dementor. He pushes it back into the chest and Lupin shuts it tight. Locking it. "Excellent, Harry! That was definitely a start!" Lupin says smiling as Harry sits down.
"Can we have another go? Just one more go?" Harry asks him.
"Not now" Lupin tells him. "You've had enough for one night. Here" he says handing us a huge chocolate bar each. "Eat the lot, or Madam Pomfrey will be after my blood. Same time next week?" he asks us.
"I'm free, Harry?" I ask him.
"It's okay with me" he states. We both take a bite of our chocolate. While Lupin extinguishing the lamps that had rekindled with the disappearance of the Dementor. "Professor Lupin. If you knew my dad, you must've known Sirius Black as well" Harry says out of no where.
"What gives you that idea?" Lupin asks him sharply.
"Nothing -- I mean, I just knew they were friends at Hogwarts too" Harry states. Lupin relaxes.
"Yes, I knew him" he states. "Or I thought I did" he mumbles.
"We'd better be off, Harry, it's getting late" I tell him.
"She's right" Lupin states. Harry and I leave the room. We start to head back still eating our chocolate.
"Riana go ahead, I'm just going to take a detour" Harry tells me.
"You sure?" I ask him. He nods his head. "Ok, but don't get caught by Filch" I tell him. He nods his head and I return to the common room alone. I join Hermione and start to do my homework. She was so focused on her essay, she didn't even notice me sit down. But I didn't mind as I wanted to focus on my homework.
