(20th December 1995) Riana's POV
So a lot has happened since Hagrid's return. Well, actually not a lot. Just more DA meetings, Hagrid introduced us to thestrals, Umbridge inspected his class, it's clear she is going to fail him on purpose just because he is a half breed. And Angelina found replacements for Fred, George and Harry. Ginny is the new seeker, she's good but no where near as good as Harry. Jack Sloper and Andrew Kirke are the new beaters. They suck, but apparently were the best out of those who tried out for the position.
Anyway for the last DA meeting before Christmas break. We just revised what we had learnt so far. Dobby the house elf had decorated the room of requirement for the season. Cho kissed Harry after everyone left. Hermoine explained to Ron and Harry what Cho was feeling. Ron was his usual self.
Draco and I haven't talked in ages. But I so don't want to be around him while he is being a spoiled brat. I still wonder sometimes why he was my mate. Why couldn't it be someone else? But I guess I'll have to get used to it or risk becoming heartbroken if he is made to marry someone else. The more mature I get, the more I am drawn to his blood and I know it's only a matter of time until Umbridge figures out I am a part vampire. But as long as Dumbledore is around, she can't expel me. Even if he left, as long as I set my OWL exams I will be allowed to keep my wand. Hopefully.
But enough about that. It's the start of the Christmas holidays. I'll be doing to Order of the Phoenix HQ first. But will be attending the new year ball. Where the council will decide if we remain neutral or pick a side. According to my uncle, there will be representatives from both sides present. Though he refused to tell me who was representing Voldemort and his death eaters. I know Tonks and Kingsley are representing the Order of the Phoenix.
Speaking of the New Year Ball, Carmen is hosting it this time. It's said she has some famous vampire singers for entertainment. She's also asked me to sing, I agreed to one song. I hear from Adrian, that Maria plans on becoming a part vampire. I wished them both the best of luck.
Anyway when Hermione and I arrived at Grimmauld place for the start of Christmas break. We are told about the trip to the hospital and what the others had overheard no the extendable ears. How Harry has been avoiding everyone since. Hermione and I went to collect Harry from Sirius' mothers room. Where he was feeding Buckbeak dead rats.
Hermione knocks on the door, but Harry doesn't answer. "We know you're in there Harry" I state.
"Will you please come out? We want to talk to you" Hermione adds. Harry opens the door.
"What are you both doing here?" he asks confused.
"First day of Christmas break" I remind him.
"Yeah, I know that" he states. "I thought you were skiing with your mum and dad?" he asks Hermione.
"Well, to tell the truth, skiing's not really my thing" Hermione admits. "So, I've come here for Christmas" she states. "But don't tell Ron. I told him skiing's really good because he kept laughing so much. Mum and Dad are a bit disappointed, but I've told them that everyone who is serious about the exams is staying at Hogwarts to study. They want me to do well, they'll understand" she explains.
"Anyway, let's go to your bedroom, Ron's mum has lit a fire in there and she's sent up sandwiches" I tell him. He follows us back to the second floor. Where Ginny and Ron were waiting with a plate of sandwiches.
"Here Riana, mum got you this" Ginny says handing me a dark cup with a straw. I smile the fresh blood and smile. Taking a sip.
"What is it anyway?" Ron asks me.
"Blood" I say and he belches. "Don't ask next time" I tell him and take another sip. Humming happily at the taste. She managed to get my favourite blood type B+.
"Anyway, we came by Knight bus" Hermione states.
"It was a lot of fun" I state with a smile.
"Dumbledore told us what had happened first thing this morning, but we had to wait for term to end officially before setting off. Umbridge is already livid that you lot disappeared right under her nose, even though Dumbledore told her Mr. Weasley was in St. Mungo's and he'd given you all permission to visit" Hermione explains.
"How're you feeling?" I ask Harry.
"Fine" he says stiffly.
"Oh, don't lie, Harry" Hermione says impatiently. "Ron and Ginny say you've been hiding from everyone since you got back from St. Mungo's" she states.
"They do, do they?" he demands. Glaring at the pair. Ron looked down at his feet but Ginny seemed quite unabashed.
"Well, you have!" Ginny declares. "And you won't look at any of us!" she snaps lightly.
"It's you lot who won't look at me!" Harry retorts.
"Maybe you're taking it in turns to look, and keep missing each other" Hermione suggests. Her mouth twitching as I suppress a giggle.
"Very funny" Harry snaps.
"Oh, stop feeling all misunderstood" Hermione tells him sharply. "Look, the others have told us what you overheard last night on the Extendable Ears-" she states.
"Yeah? All been talking about me, have you? Well, I'm getting used to it" he mutters.
"We wanted to talk to you, Harry" Ginny tells him. "But as you've been hiding ever since we got back" she states.
"I didn't want anyone to talk to me" he states.
"Well, that was a bit stupid of you" I tell him.
"Agreed, 'seeing as you don't know anyone but me who's been possessed by You-Know-Who, and I can tell you how it feels" Ginny states. Harry remained quite still as the impact of these words hit him. Then he wheeled round.
"I forgot" he admits and I roll my eyes.
"Lucky you" Ginny says coolly as I finish my cup of blood.
"I'm sorry" he says honestly. "So . . . so, do you think I'm being possessed, then?" he asks her.
"Well, can you remember everything you've been doing? Are there big blank periods where you don't know what you've been up to?" she asks him.
"No" he answers.
"Then You-Know-Who hasn't ever possessed you" she says matter of factly. "When he did it to me, I couldn't remember what I'd been doing for hours at a time. I'd find myself somewhere and not know how I got there" she states.
"That dream I had about your dad and the snake, though" he says.
"Harry, you've had these dreams before" Hermione reminds him. "You had flashes of what Voldemort was up to last year" she states.
"This was different" he tells her. "I was inside that snake. It was like I was the snake . . . what if Voldemort somehow transported me to London?" he asks and I laugh.
"One day" Hermione says sounding exasperated. "You'll read Hogwarts: A History, and perhaps it will remind you that you can't Apparate or Disapparaie inside Hogwarts. Even Voldemort couldn't just make you fly out of your dormitory, Harry" she reminds him.
"You didn't leave your bed, mate" Ron adds. "I saw you thrashing around in your sleep for at least a minute before we could wake you up" he explains. Harry starts to pace and stuffs a sandwich into his mouth. Eating hungrily. Glad that's over, now we can all enjoy the holidays together like normal people.
Sirius's delight at having the house full again, and especially at having Harry back, was infectious. He was no longer our sullen host of the summer; now he seemed determined that everyone should enjoy ourselves as much, if not more than we would have done at Hogwarts. He worked tirelessly in the run-up to Christmas Day, cleaning and decorating with our help, so that by the time they all went to bed on Christmas Eve the house was barely recognizable. The tarnished chandeliers were no longer hung with cobwebs but with garlands of holly and gold and silver streamers; magical snow glittered in heaps over the threadbare carpets; a great Christmas tree, obtained by Mundungus and decorated with live fairies, blocked Sirius's family tree from view, and even the stuffed elf-heads on the hall wall wore Father Christmas hats and beards. We'd even visit Mr Weasley in hospital Christmas day.
