Underwater Task

Riana's POV

Harry finally figured out what the next task was. With five weeks to go before the task. Hermione, Ron and I did our best to try help him prepare. But couldn't find a way for him to hold his breath for an hour. Hermione and Ron had to leave last night to go talk to McGonagall. I then turned in for the night while Harry continued to read books.

I woke up early and went to the common room. As I was going to go with the other three to the lake. But they were nowhere in sight. "You coming Riana? Second task starts in half an hour" the twins tell me.

"Have you guys seen the other three?" I ask them.

"Not since last night" George tells me.

"Come on, lets go down together" Fred tells us. We agree and leave the common room. We head down to the lake.

"Place your bets!" they shouts as  join the crowd.

"Four People will go down" George says.

"But who will come up?" Fred asks.

"Why do you have to be so mean?" Ginny asks them. Before smiling at me. "Hey Riana" she says.

"Morning Ginny, have you seen Ron or Hermione?" I ask her.

"No" she tells me. "But Harry is over there talking to Neville" she says nodding. I turn to see Neville give Harry something and smile. Harry figured out a way. But where are Hermione and Ron? I hear someone call my name and see Adrian with Maria.

"See you later guys" I tell the twins and Ginny. Before going to join Adrian and Maria.

"So what's the task?" Maria asks me.

"You're about to find out" I tell them as Ludo steps forward to address everyone.

"Well, all our champions are ready for the second task, which will start on my whistle. They have precisely an hour to recover what has been taken from them. On the count of three, then. One. . . two. . . three!" he says. A cannon sounds and the champions dive into the water.

I still can't see Hermione or Ron. Then gasp. "What is it?" Adrian asks me.

"It's people" I state. "Close friends or family of the champions have been taken. That's who they have to recover" I state.

"You sure?" Maria asks me.

"Look around, Hermione and Ron are missing" I state.

"So is that girl that Cedric took to the ball" Adrian says looking around. Maria does the same.

"I can't see Gabrielle" she states.

"Who?" I ask confused.

"Fleur's little sister" she states.

"Why would Harry have two people?" Adrian asks confused.

"You idiot, Hermione is for Krum and Ron for Harry" I tell him. "Though knowing Harry like I do, he won't leave until he knows everyone will be rescued" I state.

"But they wouldn't let someone die" Maria states.

"I know that, but Harry has a hero complex and tends to take things literally" I tell them.

"What was the clue?" they ask me.

"Come seek us where our voices sound,
We cannot sing above the ground,
And while you're searching ponder this;
We've taken what you'll sorely miss,
An hour long you'll have to look,
And to recover what we took,
But past an hour, the prospect's black,
Too late, it's gone, it won't come back" I sing.

"I didn't know you could sing, that was beautiful" Maria tells me.

"I can see why Harry would worry, but still he should know that Dumbledore would never let someone die" Adrian states.

"I bet he'll be the last to appear" I state.

"I'll take that bet, ten sickles?" he asks.

"Ten galleons" I tell him confidentially.

"You're confident" he says. "Deal" he says and we shake hands. "Want to play a game?" he asks holding up a deck of cards. I nod and we start to play a game of exploding snap.

"Hey guys" Draco says as he joins us and I ignore him. Focusing on the game. "You're still mad?" he asks me sadly.

"Are you surprised?" Maria asks him.

"Are you really a..." he asks me and I nod my head. "I'm sorry" he says. "Can we talk about it later?" he asks and I look at the other two. Who nod encouragingly.

"Fine, after the task" I tell him and get back to the game. Draco nods his head and left us.

Fleur appeared alone, after failing to get past the grindylows. She was awarded 25 points. Cedric appeared next with Cho and go awarded 47 points from the judges. They both used the bubble head charm, why didn't I think of that? Then Viktor appeared with a shark head with Hermione beside him. His head returns to normal as he is awarded 40 points.

Next Ron appears with a nine year old girl. "That's Gabrielle" Maria tells me and I nod my head. As Ron helped her swim to the platforms. Fleur pulled her sister out of the water. As the twins grabbed Ron. Just then Harry shout out of the water and landed on the platform.

After talking amongst themselves. The judges award him second place with 45 points. He and Cedric are now tied for first place for the final task. I said goodbye to Adrian and Maria. Before going to see the other three. I congratulated Harry. Then hugged Hermione and Ron. "Don't scare me like that ever again you two" I tell them.

Before leaving. I head for the astronomy tower. I wait and soon hear someone approaching. I knew it was Draco. But don't turn around as I look up at the sun. It's nearly eleven o'clock and I am hungry. For food and blood. I'd go get blood from Madame Pomfrey after this, then go to the great hall for lunch.
