The story of when Steven introduced the Diamonds to Priyanka and Doug.

Steven and Connie had been friends for a while now, but Steven was yet to meet Connie's parents.

"So would you and the Diamonds like to come over for dinner?" Connie asked Steven over the phone.

"Uhh, sure!! I mean, I don't know if they'll eat anything, but I'll ask if they wanna come!! Should I invite my dad too?" Steven asked.

"Yea, they want to meet your parents," Connie said. "Well, I had to explain to them you don't have a mom, and the whole thing with the Diamonds. They... kinda don't believe me."

"Well, I'll ask them to come then!! When should we be over?" Steven asked.

"Around 6," Connie said.

"Ok!! See you then!!" Steven then hung up.

"Dinner? At Connie's?" Yellow looked at Steven curiously.

"Connie's parents want to meet you guys!!" Steven said. "My dad already said yes, so can you come? Pleeeease?"

"...I can't say no to that face," White said.

6 PM rolled around quite fast. Steven knocked on Connie's door, and it was opened by her. Her eyes lit up. "Steven!!"

"Hey, Connie," Steven smiled. "I brought dad and the Diamonds."

"So!! Where are your parents?" White asked.

"After all, we came here to meet them," Blue said.

"They're inside," Connie said. "Cmon in!!"

The group went inside. Just then, Priyanka and Doug walked out of the kitchen.

"Oh!! Hello there," Priyanka smiled. "You must be the Steven that Connie's been talking about."

"That's me!!" Steven said. "And this is my dad."

"Greg Universe," Greg held out his hand. Priyanka and Doug both shook it.

"And... who are they?" Doug asked, referring to the Diamonds.

"Well, I'm Blue, this is Yellow, and-"

"I'm White!! We are the Diamonds, the humble matriarchs of the gem empire," White said, clasping her hands together. "It is a pleasure to finally meet you, uhh..."

"Dr. Mahashwaren, but you can call me Priyanka," Priyanka said, trying to hide how weirded out she was. "And this is my husband, Doug."

"I don't mean to offend, but are you really... aliens?" Doug asked.

"Of course we are!! We are part of the gem race," White said. "Now, where will we be having this meal you have made for us?"

"Th- the dining room," Doug said.

Once everyone got settled around the table, it became very clear to Steven and Connie how awkward the atmosphere was.

"So let me get this straight; you three were banished from your home planet by Steven's mother, and now you're raising him in her place?" Priyanka asked.

"Yes," White said. "Well, that's just a summary. It's... much uglier."

"I told you!!" Connie said to her parents.

"I can't believe you weren't lying," Doug said.

"When I first met them, I was pretty taken aback too," Greg said, chuckling nervously.

"How many... diamonds, are there?" Priyanka asked.

"Only us," Blue said. "But there are many other gems, each with a different purpose. Rubies are guards, Peridots are technicians, Quartz gems are soldiers, and Diamonds... Diamonds are leaders."

"How interesting," Priyanka said. "Are you going to eat?"

"We don't eat," White said.

"Yes you do!! White, I can name several foods you love!!" Steven said.

"I have to be in a certain mood, Steven," White said.

"You... don't eat?" Doug looked at them.

"Gems are immortal beings. We get all the energy we need from our gems. We don't need to eat or sleep," Yellow said. "Doesn't mean we can't participate in those activities. I do have quite the taste for a number of dishes, but Blue barely eats at all."

"Eating food makes me ill," Blue said, shuddering at the thought.

"Well, I think the food is delicious," Greg said.

Dinner went smoothly from then on. Doug and Priyanka both became much more comfortable around the Diamonds afterwards.

"Thanks for having us over!!" Steven said. "See you tomorrow, Connie?"

"Sure thing!!" Connie smiled.

After saying their goodbyes, Greg, Steven, and the Diamonds headed out.
