Chapter 35

Marahang tapik sa balikat ang nagpagising kay Carson.

"Love, we're home."

Napatingin ang dalaga sa labas at ganoon na lamang ang dismaya nya nang malaman na nasa bahay na sila ni Theo.

"Didn't I tell you to take me home? Sa bahay namin." Binigyang diin nya ang huling mga salita.

"As much as I want to, love, but I can't let you go home without us talking about what happened."

Umirap ang dalaga at inalis ang seatbelt. "Save your breath. I'm tired."

"Love---"

Hindi na nya hinintay na matapos ang ano pa mang sasabihin ni Theo. Binuksan na ng dalaga ang pintuan ng sasakyan at bumaba.

Gusto nyang pagalitan ang sarili. She didn't know she fell asleep. She was so exhausted earlier that she didn't want to talk or look at Theo – kahit ano pa mang pilit na gawin at pakiusap nito. Call her cold-hearted or whatever. She was never the confrontational type. Iniiwasan din nyang magsalita habang galit pa. She's afraid she might say things that would hurt both of them more.

It was a wrong move accepting his offer to drive her home, but she was left no choice. Nasa labas pa ng hotel ang mga press at siguradong magkakaroon ng komosyon kapag nakita sya ng mga ito na mag-isa at naghihintay ng sundo. This night has caused too much trouble already at ayaw na nyang dagdagan pa iyon.

She keyed in the password and the door opened.

The dim light living area, the grand piano and the silence of the house greeted her.

"Love, please, let me explain."

Marahas na nilingon ng dalaga si Theo na hindi nya man lang naramdamang nakapasok na rin pala.

"Pakinggan mo naman ako." He pleaded.

"And what are you going to say? Na hindi mo sinasadya? Na mali ang iniisip ko?" she scoffed. "I saw you with my own eyes, Theo. Sige nga, iexplain mo sa akin."

Theo sighed frustratedly. "I didn't know she was going to kiss me."

Doon natigilan si Carson. Hurt started to fill her senses more. She knew it. Tama nga ang hinala nya.

"But you let her! Yun ang hindi ko maintindihan, why did you let her?" isa isa na namang nag-unahan ang mga luha nya. "Am I not enough?"

"Love, no..." he shook his head and took a few steps towards her. Pero agad na umatras si Carson. That made him stop from walking. "You are more than enough. Please, wag mo naman isipin yan." He sniffed and bowed his head, trying to hide his tears. "I pushed her away. Yung naabutan mo kanina, that was the time I was telling her to move away." Nag-angat ito ng tingin at tumingin sa kanya ng diretso. He looked wounded and she had to stop herself from caressing his face. "You know I would never want to hurt you."

She shook her head.

"As much as possible, ayokong palayuin ka sa kanya. After all, she was still your friend. Pero limitahan mo naman sana. You know, I don't like the guts of her. I have always known her capability of flirting. The fact na sumama ka sa kanya sa suite nya, that means---"
