Carson couldn't react. Hindi nya alam kung tama ba ang narinig nya o mali lang sya ng pag-intindi.

"Lasing ka ba?" nakakunot noo na tanong nya.

Napakamot ng ulo si Theo at alanganing napangiti. "I spoiled it, didn't I?"

Hindi sumagot ang dalaga, nakatitig lang sya sa kaharap. Sa utak ay tumatakbo na ang samo't saring isipin.

"I'm sorry. I know there's other better way to tell you, but you know I'm not really good at this. I've never done this before. I've never confessed to other girls. You know, the typical type of thing - if I see that we can make a good couple, we just take the next level."

"Then you'll just break up if it's not working out." Dugtong ni Carson.

"Yes and no. Yes, because it's not working out and there's no way to fix it. But our case is different. Carson, I want to take the chance." Theo looked straight in her eyes. "I want to court you."

That left her speechless.

"I...uh..." hindi makaapuhap ng sasabihin ang dalaga dahil sa narinig. This time, she's sure with what she heard. Gising na gising ang dugo nya at nagkakagulo sa loob ng katawan nya ang mga iyon.

"Totoo na ba 'to?"

Tumango si Theo. Gusto nyang matawa dahil kitang kita sa mukha nito ang tension. Pero pinilit nyang sumeryoso at nagfocus sa nangyayari. Maging sya kasi ay nate-tension na rin.

Huminga sya ng malalim.

"Okay... hindi mo naman siguro maiisipan yan kung hindi ka na-fall sa kagandahan ko." Natawa si Theo dahil sa sinabi nya. "Don't laugh. Let me finish."

He suppressed his smile. "Go on..."

"I will be lying if I tell you that I didn't find you attractive. You're a nice guy, Theo, and a really good friend. Pero alam mo naman yung sitwasyon ko diba? I'm still broken. Ayokong maging unfair sayo at dumating sa punto na magiging escape lang kita."

"Then we'll deal with it together. I will wait until you're whole again. Just give me a chance. Let me prove to you that my intention is clear."

"Theo..."

"The first time we met, I admit that you really got into my nerves. You were too bossy, and you even stole my kiss." Ngumiti pa si Theo na dahilan ng pamumula ng mukha ng dalaga. "But as I get to know you, I saw the special woman in you. You're charming. You can easily befriend anyone because of your charm. You make me laugh with your banters. You---"

"Okay, okay..." she raised her hand to his face to stop him from talking. "Binobola mo na ako."

"I don't even have to do that to make you say 'yes'."

She rolled her eyes. "Kung ganun, ano palang gagawin mo? Let me tell you, hindi ako nadadaan sa mga paregalo. Kaya ko bumili noon."

"What do you want then?"

"Aba, bahala ka na. Ikaw ang nanliligaw, ikaw ang mag-isip." Tumayo na sya. "I need to go." Iyon lang at naglakad na sya.

"Wait, does that mean pumapayag ka na?" pahabol pa ng binata.

Hindi na ito nilingon ni Carson. Sa halip ay nagpatuloy na sya sa paglalakad palabas sa restaurant. Hindi nya mapigilan ang pagngiti habang inaalala ang mga sinabi ni Theo kanina lang.

Magsisinungaling lang sya kung sasabihin nyang hindi sya kinikilig. Pero hindi sapat ang kilig para tanggapin agad ang binata. She needs to get herself out from the mess she's currently in. That way, she can wholeheartedly love again.
