Chapter 30

Sinundan ng tingin ng binata sina Carson at Tupe hanggang sa tuluyang mawala ang dalawa at humalo sa karamihan ng mga sumasayaw.

Funny how things are changing now. He was never possessive nor territorial. But when it comes to Carson, bigla ay nagbabago ang lahat ng iyon. In times when he shouldn't be dahil wala naman syang karapatan para gawin iyon sa dalaga.

The tune of Jon Mclaughlin's So Close was soothing and romantic. Something that should make him feel relaxed but what he's feeling is far from that. Hayun sya at lihim na nagmamaktol habang sa isip ay hindi mawala ang imahe ng dalawa habang naglalakad para sumama sa iba pang nagsasayaw sa dancefloor.

From the looks of it, mukhang nangyari na nga ang pinakakinatatakutan nya.

Noon pa man, alam na ni Theo na higit pa sa pagkakaibigan ang tingin ni Tupe sa dalaga. Of course, as a guy, he knew. Hindi lang iilang beses nyang nahuli ang kakaibang tingin nito kay Carson. That's why he never liked him. Not that he's threatened with Tupe. He just hates the idea that it's possible na mas paburan ng dalaga ang lalaki – just because they're best friends. Pero kung sa effort naman ang pag-uusapan, Theo is confident that he's ten steps again of that man.

He walked to the bar counter and sat on one of the stools.

"Scotch on the rocks, please." He said to the bartender.

He immediately drank the liquid as soon as the bartender handed him the glass.

Bahagya nyang nilingon muli ang dancefloor. And there he saw the two enjoying each other's company.

The fitted black dress really gave justice to Carson's gorgeous body. The open back even accentuated her creamy skin. 

It should be him holding her like that.

He continued to watch the two as Carson throw her head back as she laughs – charming, beautiful and tempting. She was really his kind of woman.

Nang sa wakas ay hindi na nya kinaya ang nakikita, binawi na nya ang tingin sa dalawa at muling hinarap na lang ang baso na nasalinan na uli ng alak.

He drank it all and asked for another round. That continued for a few more minutes. He was just sitting there while staring blankly at the empty glass.

"There you are!" a familiar sexy voice of a woman woke him up from his deep thinking. Bago pa sya nakapagsalita, umupo na si Carson sa bakanteng stool sa tabi nya. "Nandito ka lang pala. Having fun?"

"Mmm." He nodded. Then he called the bartender's attention to fill his glass again. He took a sip from it. "You?"

She smiled happily. "I am!" tinawag din nito ang bartender para humingi ng martini. "Thank you, kuya!" sabi nito sa bartender ng iabot ng lalaki ang baso sa dalaga. "Cheers?"

Kinuha naman ni Theo ang sariling baso. "Cheers."

Sabay nilang ininom ang kanya kanyang alak.

"Ah, I miss this!" she said as she took another sip. "You know what? I just realized that this is the first party we've attended together."

"Is it?"

Tumango ang dalaga. "Yeah, I mean, yung magkasama talaga tayo. I've seen you in several parties before but never had a chance to say hi."

Palagi na rin nya nakikita ang dalaga noon. Maliit lang ang mundong ginagalawan nila. Besides, Carson's pretty popular – especially to men. Aside from her being an Asuncion, with her wits and charm, her name is like gold. Kahit nga yata magbenta lang ito ng simpleng papel, mabilis na mabibili.
