Chapter 63

River's POV

When I walk into the room, I take in the medical equipment that's beside the bed and realise we were in the Infirmary.

How did I end up here??

Well I was about to find out. There was a big blank in my memory that needed to be filled.
Sebastian leads me to the bed and I just get in. I was strangely feeling exhausted. He pulls the covers up to my chest once am in then drops on the chair next to the bed. He reaches for my hand and holds onto it.
I look around the room from Greg and his dad who are seated on the sofa to Casper who's leaning against the wall. And finally back to my Mate.

"Okay can someone tell me what happened.. why am in the Infirmary?." I decide to break the silence.

"You don't remember?" Mr. Sanders asks.

"No. I don't." I respond.
Sebastian starts to rub small soothing circles on the back of my palm.

"Isn't anyone going to explain?" I ask looking at all three of them.

"You almost died. You died for a fraction of a second actually. That's why you're here. You were at the bottom of the stream when you were found. I had to do CPR to revive you. Then brought here. You were barely hanging on." Casper speaks quietly.

I died!!

That explains Sebastian's reaction in the bathroom at least.

" Who found me?" I ask quietly.

"I did." Sebastian says and I snap my head to him. He still looks like he might break down any second.

Oh Goddess!! I can imagine what  poor guy must have gone through.
I understood then why he broke down earlier. I would have lost my mind if it was me that had found him lifeless at the bottom of the stream.
My hold on his hand tightens as I try to comfort him... To assure him I was here with him, alive and breathing.
He clears his throat and blinks back tears.

" Do you remember anything? How you got to the stream. Where you were before?" he asks me.

I try to think but I come up with nothing.

"No. I don't remember."

" The last time I saw you was at the training grounds. Then you left with warrior Field's son and Bay." Casper offers.

"Yes, Bay attested to that. She said you wanted to go to the stream. So am assuming you left for the woods alone. Then something happened.. or someone attacked you." My mate says, his tone angry now.

I shake my head.

"Guys i don't remember any of that. All I remember is falling asleep in Sebastian's room."

"Okay.. let's give it time then. The memories might gradually return on their own. Don't strain your brain." Sebastian says.

" Okay."

How long have I been here?" I ask.
"One week."

Oh!

I swallow hard and nod. That's a long time. Sebastian must have been through hell. Just watching and waiting for me to recover from whatever had happened.
Everyone goes quiet then but all of a sudden Greg and his dad get to their feet and announce their departure after sharing a look with sebastian. He must have mindlinked them.

" It's good to have you back with us Alpha Mate. You really had everyone worried." Mr. Sanders says.

I give him a small smile in return. Greg offers a wave before they disappear through the door.
