River's POV.
" We should have killed the she wolf and gotten away with it! I mean where does she get the courage to verbaly attack you and call me non existent??" Zane is practically seething in my head.
" From what we've discovered today, you are the exact opposite of non existent. Trust me. But it's better for her to underestimate us. It gives us the upper hand. Her confidence bothers me though. I can't help but think she's planning something."
" Of course she's planning something!!! And trust me if death isn't her master plan for us then am certainly a fairy. What's a fairy by the way? I mean I know they are winged little tiny creatures but we are none of the above. What is the other definition then?" Zane asks. He was being overly vocal this evening. Especially after the encounter with the she-devil.
"A fairy is a term some mentally screwed people came up with to mean gay."
He's quiet for a moment.
"I don't get it."
"Neither do I." I respond as I finally make it to the training grounds.
As I weave my way through the people scattered about, I receive nods here and there, a few smiles and the occasional bow.
Okay!! This was definitely new!
I'd never gotten this much attention or reaction from people in the community. I had grown accustomed to being ignored before. The attention was making me self conscious.
I even make out a few whispers from the crowd.
That's the Alpha Mate!... One says.
Is that really him??... Another asks.
I heard he caught Sebastian with Satin Baker after they mated!!
That last one almost made me turn to look at the person but I keep my head straight and head towards the group gathered ahead.
" Hey there Alpha Mate! Long time no see." a familiar voice stops me in my tracks.
I turn and spot Bay along with Archer just to my right and a bright smile breaks out across my face.
Bay launches herself in my arms and I have to steady my feet so we don't go tumbling to the ground.
" Woah!! Did you have to jump on me like that?? You forget am not built for heavy duty boo.." I say as I return her enthusiastic hug.
" Just missed you. That's all." She replies, stepping out of my arms.
" Am not throwing myself at you.. I have some dignity!" Archer says before extending his hand for a bro handshake.
" Good thing! Don't think I could handle the impact from your bony self." I joke, and he punches my arm.
"Ouch! That actually hurt!"
I rub the spot that he hit to try and reduce the sting.
"Good." he states.
" So what's the fuss about?" I ask, after spotting a group of people gathered at the open fighting grounds.
" You don't know??" Bay asks, obviously surprised by my lack of knowledge on whatever was going on.
I shake my head.
" Shane and Elliot are gonna fight it out over your sister!"
"What!?"
" I said.."
" I know what you said Bay, am just shocked. What does Greta have to do with it?"
"Now that's the most interesting part.." Archer says, taking a seat on one of the free benches around.
Bay and I join him.
