Chapter 21

River Blair.

I wake up feeling disoriented. And super hungry. Did I have dinner last night?? I couldn't tell. My mind was Abit foggy. I throw the covers off my body and attempt to stand, only to plop back down on the bed feeling dizzy. Fuck! I was so hungry!.
Gathering extra strength, I drag my body to the bathroom and use the toilet, then head to the sink to brush my teeth. As I look at my reflection in the mirror, images of what transpired last night start to come back to me and I choke on my tooth paste!
I really screwed up big time!
Not about challenging Sebastian, don't get me wrong. I could care less about that. But about Zane revealing himself. My dad had told me to keep my wolf possession a secret and now Sebastian knew!!
He must have told his dad by now just to spite me. The elders and council must be discussing ways to end my life by now.
I was panicking!!

" Calm down River.. You're overreacting. Sebastian maybe mean but not evil. Just talk to him and make sure though." I talk to myself.
I was really losing it if I was now talking to myself!
I rinse my mouth then walk into my room in search of my phone.

"You can just mind link him." My
wolf says quietly.

Ohh! Right. And I toss my phone on the bed.
But what do I say? I'll just wing it.

" Hey. Please don't tell your dad about my wolf. My dad thinks it's best to keep it a secret for now. Please." I say, hoping I wasn't too late.
His response is too quick am momentarily stunned.

" I figured you wouldn't want me telling anybody. I just don't get why everything about your wolf is a secret."
Pheww! I let out a breath of relief. The guy wasn't evil after all.

" How are you doing?" he asks softly.
And am taken back by the concern his voice. He sounded almost caring! I must be imagining things now.

" Am okay. You?" I reply as I root for a change of clothes.

" Am glad you're okay." Is all he says.
"Am sorry about last night. Please forgive me." he adds after a pause.
And stop mid search and stand still. I was definitely hearing things. There's no way this was the same Sebastian from last night.
The guy had been cruel and ruthless last night and now he was acting all nice and caring! I must have hit my head or something!

" Who are you and what have you done with my mate??"
He chuckles.. but it's a sad kind of laugh.

" I just had a few things to think about. Which is why am apologising. I said things last night that I shouldn't have. Things you didn't have to hear either. I was hoping we would have this conversation in person but this is fine too." he pauses.

I sit back on my bed and patiently wait for him to continue.
This was getting really good!

" Am sorry I lied about the reason why I asked to try this out as mates. My reason was selfish I know. But I really want us to figure this out together. You and me. I know I've probably messed things up already but I was hoping we could start afresh. On a clean slate. Please, give me another chance."

This was better than I thought!
Sweet goddess! I jump off my bed and do a little dance. Whatever zane did last night was actually working.
I could hear the sincerity and vulnerability in his voice. It made me want to hug him.
I must have been silent too long because I hear him call my name.

" Blair? Please say something." he begs.

My dancing comes to a halt and am smiling so hard.
" Okay. We can try again." I say, acting cool.

"Thank you. I won't mess this up. I promise."

" Now your making promises?" I say, laughter in my voice.
Things had really changed so fast. Last night he was assuring me of how he hadn't made any promises to me and now he was giving me his word! I was amazed.

" Yes Blair, I promise to make this work."

" Fine. We're cool." I say

"Okay.. so.. tell me more about your wolf." he requests.
And I tell him all I know about Zane and the wolf possession. Not leaving anything out.

Am at the dinner the next day when Sebastian walks in with casper and Elliot. Shane the guard dog is nowhere in sight. Which am grateful for. I wasn't ready yet to see his annoying face. And zane was still very much angry.
Casper and Elliot find seats and Sebastian walks over to the counter to place their orders. Today I was waiting tables, mom in the kitchen and Greta at the counter. Terry, another employee was working the register. I was done serving a few customers and was returning to get a new order. Which would be Sebastian's.

"Hey you.." he says quietly, as I reach the counter, his eyes looking me up then down. Then finally resting on my eyes. I hold  eye contact. But not before checking him out as well.
He was dressed simply. A t.shirt and dark jeans ripped at the knees.
His hair looked like he had been running his hands through it. And his blue eyes were so clear I could see my reflection in them.
The guy was absolutely gorgeous.
I had to shift my eyes elsewhere,  his gaze was so intense.

"Hey.. " I say, then clear my throat. His presence was making me hot. Extremely hot.
He moves closer , then reaches up and tucks my hair behind my ears. His hand trails down my cheek, all the way to my neck and my lips part slightly then my breath hitches. My face was literally on fire. Every single part of skin he had touched was tingling.
This was getting heated so fast!
His thumb slowly caresses my cheek and I almost moan.
Greta clears her throat and I reluctantly step away from him suddenly aware that we have an audience.

" Now that you're done eye fucking, River can you get three coffees and muffins for Sebastian's table."

I spin on my heel and head to the coffee machine, my face so red.
Sweet goddess! He really meant it when he said he would make things work.
They were really working if you ask me. A certain body appendage of mine was definitely at work!
I started to fumble with the coffee maker and a few drops of coffee spill over my hand.

" Wow Sebastian, you've really managed to render my brother useless. Now the little brain cells he's got have definitely disintegrated." I hear Greta say and I blush scarlet red!

" Shut the fuck up Greta!" I bark out, totally embarrassed.
Sebastian simply chuckles, gives me one last look before he heads back to his table.

" You're cute when you blush!" I hear his voice through the mind link and the coffee cup am holding falls to the ground, spilling hot coffee all over my shoes.
Greta was right! He had definitely rendered me useless.

I give up on the coffee and head straight to the kitchen. Greta would take their order. I was too flustered to do anything. Not when Sebastian was around.
As I disappear into the kitchen, I hear Greta burst into uncontrollable laughter.
That girl could be a total bitch some times.
But I loved her.
