3months later.

River Blair.

It's been three long months since the war. At first I would go to bed with an eye and ear open.. you know just incase. It was the paranoia that we were still being watched that kept me awake at night. I somehow still believed some members of the MOVEMENT were out there plotting some kind of evil. And that wasn't all, the fact that I'd killed people, taken lives so easily begun to take it's toll on me. For the first month, my days and nights were filled with terrors. Each time I tried to sleep, I'd wake up screaming. At one time, I believed I was being haunted. Dark circles and heavy bags adorned my eyes, my mom thought I was withering, my mate blamed himself.
If I wasn't screaming from a nightmare, then I was looking over my shoulder claiming to have seen something or someone. I was seeing things. At least that's what everyone said. In simple terms, I was a mess.

But let's talk about the pack... The Blue Moon pack was prospering more than ever. The cabins had been rebuilt and I must say they looked better than they did before.. and bigger too. I'd always thought they needed to be renovated but having them entirely rebuilt was much better. The community looked polished. It actually seemed like no blood had ever been shed, people had buried the war so deep in their minds. Well except for those who lost their loved ones. As it goes, in war, there are always casualties and we lost very many good warriors. The pack suffered a terrible loss.
I'd almost lost Casper. The injuries he had sustained during the war had been terrible. But the guy miraculously pulled through. I guess he was too stubborn to even accept death.

Speak of the devil!

Casper waltz through my bedroom like it's where he belongs. The guy knows nothing about privacy, let alone boundaries.

" Don't you knock! This room is sacred for your own information." I chastise him.

He simply rolls his eyes and smiles.

" you're absolutely right about the sacred part. This place is more of a shrine where Sebastian gets to worship you. And that bed is the alter. I mean he literally gets on his knees and worships you "

" You're an idiot!"

" Well this idiot brought pizza." he says as he settles in the bed next to me shoving the box right under my nose.

" You're insufferable.. wonder why am still friends with you." I mumble but my hands reach out for the box and uncover it's contents. The aroma of grease, cheese and bread assaults my nostrils.

" You look terrible." Casper abruptly says.

" I know. You don't have to throw it in my face."

" Still having nightmares?"
I grab a piece of the pepperoni pizza and take a bite. It tasted heavenly.

" Yes. Sebastian has now resorted to staying awake while I sleep. Just holding me so I know am not alone."

" Does it help?" He asks, taking a piece for himself.

" It does. But it's tiring him out. He won't admit it but I see it."

" He loves you. He would do anything for you. If he wasn't happy watching you sleep he would tell you. I know that guy. So quit worrying about him and worry about yourself."

I nod, taking another bite.
Casper checks his phone and smiles wide.

" They're here!" He says excitedly.

" Who's here?"

He doesn't need to answer because my bedroom door bursts open and a stream of individuals noisily walk through. Bay, Archer, Greta, Greg, Marcus and Shane!!
My eyes widen at Shane but I say nothing. Marcus had somehow wormed his way into my Mate's good books. And once he had gotten Sebastian's approval, the rest followed.

" Mind telling me why you're all crowding my room?"

" Oh shut the fuck up and scoot over. We are here to give you a good night's sleep. Rumor has it you can barely get proper shut eye. " Shane says as he climbs onto my bed.

What the fuck! Did I just die and come back to life?? Shane? In my room, being nice and friendly???
Sweet goddess!

"What? Don't act too surprised. I went to war for you, that should at least mean something." He says.

" Yeah.. I heard he almost lost an eye defending you." Bay says.

" It wasn't just an eye sweetheart. His entire body was embedded with arrows. He gave his life for his alphas. If that isn't love, then I don't know what is." Archer speaks, placing another box of pizza on the bed.

" Well I was out there, and what I saw was entirely the opposite. He barely did anything.. except ferry the injured off the..."

" Will you all stop discussing me like am not here!" Shane snaps, cutting Greta's narrative short.
She clamps her mouth shut and dramatically throws herself on my bed.

I simply smile. I know Shane was among the many heroes who fought that day. And I'd forever be greatful. My friends just loved to tease.

" It's really nice of you guys to come. But really, am okay." I tell them.

" Can't you just enjoy our company. I was dragged away from my video games to be here. I even brought a book to read to you. That's how much I've grown to like you. Appreciate it. I don't like people that easily." Shane tells me.

Oh trust me I knew! The guy was a thorn in my side for a long time.

" Am glad you're all here. It means alot. Seriously." I say.

" Yeah. We love you too. Now can we eat these snacks and watch some movies. Y'all getting all mushy and crap." Casper says before shoving pizza in his mouth.

The rest of the night goes on like that, we stuff our stomachs with junk food and joke around. And before I know it, am fast asleep surrounded by friends. I felt happy. But most of all, I felt safe.

*************************************

I stir awake, something had awoken me. But it wasn't a nightmare like most nights. I feel a pair of arms snake around me and I turn around, to meet my beautiful Mate.

" You're back." I groggily say, trying to rub the sleep from my eyes.

" Yeah. Just a few minutes ago. I didn't mean to wake you."

" No it's okay. Where's everyone?"

" They just left. With the way you were sound asleep am guessing they did their jobs well." Sebastian says, his thumb caressing my cheek.

" Hmmm. Shane even read to me. Didn't know he had it in him."

" He's developing a soft spot for you. Just like Casper did. You have that effect on people."

" Oh really!"

" Yes. You have a way of capturing people's hearts and owning them. I know for a fact you own my heart. And am not getting it back anytime soon. Infact not ever. I don't want it back."

" You're being dangerously sweet. I might get cavities." I tell him as I push him onto his back and straddle him.

I lean down and capture his soft lips in a kiss.

" I just confirmed it. You're really sweet." I say against his lips.

He smiles seductively and my poor heart flutters.

"Is there any other part you want to taste? I've got a few suggestions babe." He says this as he moves his hips and I feel a certain body appendage pocking me.

I smirk, then press harder onto said appendage.

"We've got the rest of our lives to taste each other and find out who's sweeter. We are SOUL Mates after all."

" SOUL Mate. I love the sound of that." He says before passionately kissing me.

And I couldn't be any happier. I was right where I wanted to be. Where I'd always wanted to be. With him. My mate. My SOUL Mate.
