River Blair.

I was currently waiting outside the pack infirmary, with Greta, Bay and Archer. I kept yawning constantly, from what? I couldn't even tell. It must be the exhaustion. I didn't sleep a wink last night! I couldn't, even if I tried. Everything that happened was still fresh, my brain was still trying to process the latest events that had happened in my life.
If you're wondering about Satin, yes it's true! The girl defied death. I honestly haven't yet come to terms with that fact.

Last night though, Bay and I waited in Archer's cabin for the warriors to get back home. We never made it to the dinner. I didn't expect to see Sebastian after all that had gone down, so the next best person to get details from was Archer's dad. Thankfully, he wasn't badly injured. When he got home, he filled us in on everything, including the fact that satin Baker was indeed alive and kicking.
She wasn't actually kicking though. According to him, she had needed immediate medical attention.
Apparently she and other women were being held captive in some dingy cells in a basement. The reasons weren't yet established. They were hoping she could reveal the mystery of her fake death and captivity.
Everyone was honestly in shock that she turned up alive.

We had buried the girl for fucks sake!!

If it wasn't her, then whose body did we bury?
These were all questions that needed answers.
She was currently in the pack Infirmary with Sebastian. He couldn't leave her side.

Huh!

Which is why I was currently at the Infirmary trying to locate my mate. When I got home last night, I had tried mind linking him but I couldn't get through. It felt like I was being blocked.
That alone contributed to my lack of sleep. That and the crazy emotions that kept bombarding me.
At least the love that I had felt earlier wasn't as strong as it was.
Which was a good thing honestly.
He was mostly worried, and there was an overwhelming sense of guilt.

What was he guilty for?? She was alive!
I couldn't understand it.

I wasn't mad that she was alive. Infact I was glad she was still going to walk the face of this earth. I just hoped she would walk a different earth. One where Sebastian wasn't. If that was even possible.
Wishful thinking I know.
Greta's voice snaps me out of my thoughts.

" Let's go in.. we can't be standing out here like homeless people! Besides, you're the Alpha's mate. I suggest you march in there in demand answers." She says sounding annoyed.

" True! You need to hear the details from the horse's mouth." Bay backs her up.
I look at Archer, silently asking for his opinion.
He sighs, then says in a bored tone.

" What they said. You should go in there. The rest of us can wait for you out here."

I suppose they were right. I am the "Alpha Mate". I have the right to be in there.
" Alpha Mate" was the opposite of Luna. It only applied to male mates of Alphas. It wasn't common for an alpha to have a male mate, but it did happen a few times. Hence the title.

" Okay... Uhhm.. let me head in and see what's up" I finally say.
Gathering all my Alpha Mate courage, I head toward the entrance of the Infirmary, not sure of what awaits me.

As I walk through the door and head for the reception, I keep imagining different scenarios in my mind. Like finding satin and Sebastian sharing a lovers reunion kiss! Or maybe Sebastian holding her in his arms.
They were all terrible thoughts.. I needed to be positive. Sebastian was my mate. Satin being alive doesn't change that.
Or does it?

Shut up brain!!

I head towards the well groomed receptionist, calming my nerves as best as I could.
She notices me the moment I stand infront of her desk, a bright smile lighting up her pretty face.

"Alpha Mate! It's good to see you."she says brightly.
My eyes widen at what she just said.

What!
Did she just call me Alpha Mate??
How did she know?

She bursts into laughter. The look on my face must be priceless.
" You should see the look on your face.."she says, as her laughter turns to giggles.
She was interesting.

" Am sorry I just didn't expect you to call me that. Infact you are the first to call me by that title. I didn't think anyone would to be honest."
Her smile falters Abit before it resumes it's brilliance.

" You are Alpha Mate. Whether people accept it or not. Don't let what's happened get to you." She says.

What's happened??
She must be referring to the satin  saga.
I politely smile. But stay quiet. My mood was quickly detoriating.

"You must be here for Sebastian. I'll let him know." She says.

" No no! It's okay. Just point me in the direction he's in and I'll find him." I rush out.

She nods.
" Just head down the hall. The door to your left. Though that's all useless information if you can smell him." She says with a wink.

This receptionist was something else!

I thank her and head down the hall. Once I get to said door, I hesitate. I wasn't so sure of what I was doing.
I should probably just high tail it out of here and wait for him to come find me when he finally leaves her side.. which will be like in...

" Forever!" Zane fills in for me.
" You want to hand over our mate to the she wolf on a silver platter! " he exclaims.

" No! I am just trying to protect us. What we don't see won't hurt." I try to reason.

" You're a bigger fool than I thought River Blair! I don't know about you but that Alpha in there is my mate and I don't plan on sharing him with any she wolf. Now you better get in there before I posses you and do goddess knows what." zane snaps me into action and I turn the door handle then push the door open without even knocking.

However, the sight that greets me makes me wish I were blind. On the tiny Infirmary bed lay
Sebastian holding Satin tightly in his arms, her head on his chest as they both sleep soundly. My eyes trail to their intertwined fingers and the breath is knocked out of me. My eyes begin to water as I take in their peaceful expressions.

I knew I shouldn't have come!

I quickly shut the door and head back down the hall. Tears blurring my vision.
Jude was absolutely right. The competition was stiff. Satin Baker was back from the dead and she was already cuddling my mate.
We had never even slept in each other's arms!! But satin had effortlessly achieved that.
I angrily wipe the fat pregnant tears that were spilling out of my eyes. I pass the receptionist without sparing her a glance and head out the Infirmary.

I seriously needed to regroup..
