Chapter 18

River Blair

" Your overly dressed today.. what's the occasion?" Dad asks me as I enter the kitchen. He was reading the paper.

" Nothing dad.. just taking these cookies that mom helped me bake to the training grounds. The luna is there. She requested them." I say as I place said cookies in a paper bag.

" Didn't peg you for making deliveries.. it's always Greta running around the place with orders." he comments as he folds the paper in half.

" It's nothing dad. I want to help." I say. He knew I was lying and up to something. He could see right through me.
I was making the delivery because I knew Sebastian would be there. It had been a week since the talk in the park and we hadn't really interacted much. He acknowledged me if we happened to cross paths, like at the grocery store, or the dinner. He wasn't outright ignoring me but he still wasn't going out of his way to talk to me. So I decided to put Archer's advise to use. Which is why am making cookie deliveries.

" So anything about my wolf's ability to take over my body" I ask my dad, effectively changing the subject.

" nothing we don't already know son. Though a wolfs ability to take control of your human body is called wolf possession." he says.

" Interesting term!" I say as I grab the paper bag, preparing to head out.
" See you later dad. Love you." I add. Then walk out the kitchen, ready for day one of "operation woo Sebastian" Archer's term, not mine.

I had taken everything into consideration. My look, my attire. I always got stared at wherever I went, especially by humans. So it was safe to say I had the looks. Not bragging by the way. Just putting it out there.
I had on tight fitted dark pants which really made my ass look edible. With a grey t.shirt and my denim jacket. I finished my get up with black combat boots. Simple but stylish. That's the look I was going for. As for my hair, I let the waves fall down my back. I'd long discovered wearing my hair this way turned heads. I wanted Sebastian to notice me, I needed him to see me. Really see me. I wore a bit of mascara to thicken my already long lashes. I was on point! This had to work.
Girls really had it rough..I  mean if they had to do this every day to get a guy's attention.

When I get to the training grounds, which is basically an open space with training equipment. I pause and look around. It's More like an out door gym. But warriors spurred here too. They also engaged in hand to hand combat. There was an indoor arena for training in wolf form. Away from prying eyes.
Luna Isabel was seated under a little shade, watching warriors spur.
I look towards the grounds, my eyes scanning for my mate. It doesn't take long for me to find him. He's wearing nothing but a pair of sweats. His chiseled chest on display for all to see. Beads of sweat were making there way down his sculpted abs. His six pack was on another level! He looked beyond amazing I was starting to drool!
I averted my gaze immediately, didn't want him to see me eye fucking him In broad day light. My fingers tighten on the paper bag and gathering all the confidence I could muster, I saunter toward the luna.
To get to her though, I had to pass directly infront of Sebastian who was lifting weights. His biceps were impressive! I mentally note.
I move forward, oozing confidence and as I draw closer, I could tell he had noticed my presence. I simply pass by and head straight for the luna. Out of the corner of my eye, I notice Sebastian lift his head only to get hit in the face by the weights he was lifting.
I hear a clatter of metal, followed by a few curse words and I can't help the smile that finds its way to my face.
I was definitely making an impression!

Luna Isabel invites me to share some of the cookies and I don't say no. I didn't want to say no. This gave me more time to watch my mate. It was a great way to spend my time. Eat delicious cookies while eye fucking the man of my dreams. Who would say no to that?? At least not me.
Am slowly wiping cookie crumbs off my fingers, lost in seductive thoughts concerning the half naked specimen of a man out there chugging a bottle of water when the luna's voice interrupts my day dreaming.

" It was really sweet of you to give Sebastian a chance after that stunt he pulled. Both Donovan and I are grateful." she quietly says.
I give her a smile. It's the first time I'd really gotten up close and personal with her.
This close, I could really see how beautiful she was. Sebastian must have gotten his looks from her. She was a red head after all!
Good looks must run in the family. Nate was no exception. The good genes didn't shy away from him either.

" I know it must have been hard for you, with him leaving and all. It still must be because of all that has happened this year. With satin and all. But am glad you two are working things out. It means alot to us. Especially with Donovan preparing to step down." she adds.

The alpha was planning to step down!
That was surprising. He was still in good shape. The pack loved him. I didn't personally know the man but according to my dad, he was fair and just. And that's enough praise coming from him.
I simply nod and continue to nibble on a cookie.

" You don't talk much do you River?" she asks once I don't say anything.
I chuckle.

" No, it's not that luna. Am just humbled by your presence. Don't be fooled." I say and she bursts into laughter. It's a melodic sound. Soft and soothing. Calming even.
When her laughter dies down she says;

" You will be good for my son. He may not realize it but he needs you. Especially now that he'll be Alpha soon. Donovan finally agreed to it because he found his mate. You will balance each other out."
And I find difficulty in swallowing the piece of cookie in my mouth.

What!!!

Does that mean Sebastian only sought me out because he wanted the Alpha position??
The more I thought about it, the more it made sense.
It was because he coveted the Alpha position that he asked to fix things.
The cookie tasted bitter all of a sudden.

" Are you okay?" Luna Isabel asks.
I offer a tight lipped smile and nod.

I was beyond angry. Absolutely mad. I abruptly stand up and quickly say my goodbyes mumbling some fabricated excuse. She gives me a worried look and I wave her off.
She had no business knowing I was planning on murdering the selfish prick she calls a son!

An absolute prick! And I planned on giving him a piece of my mind.
