Chapter 16

Sebastian Decker.

River Blair. That was his full name. My mate's name. I had asked my mom and before she told me, she reminded me how much of an uncaring idiot I was. If I didn't care I wouldn't have come back to StreamVille. I cared about not ending both our lives prematurely. I had only one option, to make it work with him. Rejection wasn't an option. I had a pack to run and I couldn't do that if I was dead. I had to make it work. Which is why am in the park having a one on one with him.

" What are you trying to say?" he asked softly.

" What am trying to say Blair is that am willing to give this a shot. If you'll have me." I told him, maintaining eye contact. I was having trouble looking away from him. His grey eyes were captivating.

I watched as his eyes widened and the first thought I had was that he was going to pass out again. Please don't faint! I mentally beg.
But then his eyes begun to glow!
He's grey eyes became darker and begun to actually glow!! I'd never seen anything like it. What was happening??
He must have realized what was happening because he quickly turned around and faced the other way.

" Blair what's happening with your eyes?" I question

" It's nothing. Just the reflection from the light." he mumbled but didn't make a move to face me again.
I could sense he was lying. So I did the only thing I could. I grabbed his arm and spun him around but his eyes were clamped shut.. something similar to electric shocks shot through my hand and I let go of his arm immediately. My body felt like it was on fire. Tingles run through my entire body and my breathing became heavier. I was getting turned on. With something as simple as skin contact.
He must have felt it too because his eyes shot open and the glowing was brighter.
I stepped away from him. His scent was intoxicating me. I was finding it hard to breathe.

"Your eyes. Tell me about your eyes" I say, trying to focus on anything to stop myself from crushing my lips to his. This mate bond was totally messing with my head.
He licks his lower lip and my eyes follow the action.

" Perhaps we should sit down. It's a long story" he says, then drops his gaze.
I lead him to the raised ledge of the fountain and we sit, a few inches apart. He takes a deep breath and runs a hand through his wavy hair. It's honestly beautiful.

" The day I realized you're my mate, I realized something else." he then pauses and looks at me with his glowing eyes.
" I have a wolf." he finishes. " And these are his eyes."

My eyes widen in shock as I stare at him.
He had a wolf??
That's unbelievable!

"Woah! That's.. that's just crazy." I say still in shock. My wolf was jumping around in excitement at this news. He was truly elated.

" Yaaa. It is. He must have been lying dormant waiting for the time I met my mate." he says, then chuckles. "But I still can't shift though."

" Why?"

" I have no clue. My family has tried to help me figure it out but no luck yet. I can feel him, talk to him but he can't truly come through. He doesn't understand it either." he explains.
I simply nod my head, unable to take my eyes off him. He was beautiful, I had to admit. His glowing eyes only added to his appeal.
I can't believe am actually thinking these things! I needed to focus.

"What's his name?" I ask instead

" Zane."

I nod. Cute!
" I hope you have no other surprises in store for me Blair." I say
He hesitates but quickly nods.
I didn't believe him. He hesitated. But I don't press further.

" Why Blair?" his voice startles me. I had zoned out.

I smile. So he noticed.. huh!

" Why not? Everyone calls you by your first name. I prefer the last."
Even under the low light, I can see the slight blush that tints his cheeks.
I clear my throat and look away.

I needed to set some things straight.
"I know I said that I would fix things but I need time. Am still not yet... I mean uh.. I need time to.."

" Your still in love with her aren't you?" he asks softly.
I couldn't deny it. I was still in love with satin. My silence seems to answer his question and I watch as the glow in his eyes starts to slowly fade till his light grey remains.
His wolf must be upset.

" Am sorry." that's all I could say

" Don't be. I get it. Am nothing like her. Your willing to try this, that's more than I expected. I can work with that. " he says and looks away, but not before I see a tear slip out of his eye.

Great! Now I made him cry.

"Am sorry" I repeat. Like that will solve anything. Am hopeless!
He quickly wipes the tear and turns to me with a smile that doesn't reach his eyes.

" I know." he says.

Casper was right! My mate was too forgiving.

I check my phone and realize it's late. How time ran so fast was amazing. I look back and catch him placing his dark curls up in a ponytail. His hair up brought out his facial features.
Stunning was an understatement. My eyes trailed down his face and stopped on his lips again. They looked so Inviting! I could imagine myself tasting them.. I bet they tasted sweet.
I groaned out and he snapped his head towards me.

" It's getting late.. I should take you home." I say trying to look anywhere but his face. I was thinking crazy shit! This mate bond was worse than I thought.

" It's ok. Greta's just a few cabins down. She"LL take me home." he says as he gets off the ledge.

" No I'll take you. I insist."

"Okay. Let me just call her to let her know." he says.

" Can't you just mind link her. It's faster." I say as I lead the way to my car. I pause when I realise he isn't following. When I turn to him, he's standing with an unreadable expression on his face.
" What is it" I ask

" I can't mind link. I haven't been initiated into the pack link" he says.

" Why is that?"

He raises his hand to run it through his hair out pauses when he realizes it's high up his head. It must be a nervous habit.
I raise an eyebrow.

" Your dad isn't aware yet that I have a wolf. So..." he trails off and avoids all eye contact.

"WHAT! your Alpha doesn't know? Are you kidding me?" I realise am shouting when I see him flinch.
I needed to tone it down before I freak him out.

" It just didn't come up. A lot has been going on in my life you know" he says sarcastically.

"Fine, I"ll fix it." I say then turn to walk away. I hear him following this time. He was light on his feet you could barely hear him if you weren't listening. But I was. It was like all my senses were tuned towards him. Towards his existence.

On the drive home, I focus on the road. Didn't want any distraction and he was proving to be more of a distraction than anything else.

" So how does this work?" he breaks the silence gesturing between the two of us.

To be honest, I hadn't thought that far. When am silent for too long, he continues.
" Are you planning to keep the fact that we are mates a secret?"

That had been my initial plan but my dad would kill me. I couldn't risk my life. So no.. that wasn't happening.
" No. I won't keep you a secret. But like I said, I need time to adjust. Okay?."
" Please." I say when he doesn't reply.

" It's cool. I'll follow your lead Sebastian."

It's the first time I've heard him say my name and it's sexy as fuck!
The way he pronounces it is just so hot i almost tell him to say it again but I don't. I keep my focus on the road. When we reach his cabin, he quickly opens the door and gets out. He shuts it then leans through the window which is rolled down.

" I will make you forget her, Sebastian Decker. Mark my words." he says. Then swiftly walks to his front door. Not once does he look back.

I watch him disappear through the door and am left speechless with a raging hard on.
