River Blair.
You would think all this information would make me happy.. I mean these historic books were implying the goddess had chosen me to restore her creation.. and that I could possibly use magic. All my life, I'd been a black sheep, the freak, the guy without a wolf. And now? I have a wolf who is supposed to be stronger than any wolf out there. Except Sebastian's of course. I was still trying to wrap my head around everything.
Sebastian must feel my emotions, my fear, my apprehension because he pulls me out of the chair and draws me into his arms. He's been perched on the edge of the table since.
"Hey it's okay.. we don't know anything yet that's solid about Zane. Whatever Gonzalez was, or did shouldn't make you scared of yourself. Okay?" he says and kisses my forehead.
" I know, but they killed him, because of what his wolf could do. That's one of the reasons my dad asked me to keep my wolf a secret. He was afraid of what the council would do. They are afraid of wolf possession."
" No one is telling the council anything babe, but we have to tell my dad. Besides, we believe someone in the council betrayed the pack. We just don't know who. They wanted me dead. Which only means one thing, they know I am the wolf in the book. But they don't know about your wolf. And we will keep it that way." sebastian assures me.
I guess the Alpha had to know. He is the leader of the pack.
" Okay . We can tell the Alpha." I agree. He could protect me better I guess.
" One more thing!" Greg says looking Abit amused.
" What now? Are you going to tell us that Sebastian will have to grow wings?" I sass.
This whole prophecy was really giving me a migraine already.
Greg smiles...
" Not wings, but something alright." he says.
I pull out of Sebastian's arms and glare at Greg. This wasn't funny!
He simply pushes a thick book towards us, I grab it and look at what was amusing him.
This prophecy was really something else!
It said the wolf with Alpha blood had the ability to morph into it's wolf but remain on two legs. Half wolf, half human. This was something only the true Alpha could do.
My brain couldn't take in any more information.. so I pass the book over to Sebastian.
I watch his eyes widen as he reads through. He flips the page and stares at it. Then turns the book to me.
I stare at the image.
The thing on the page looked absolutely terrifying!
A beast on two legs.!
It's head was wolf, together with parts of it's body. It's canines long and razor sharp. The body was covered in fur, fingers were claws. And it was on two legs. It's height was incredible. It was huge and tall. If I met that for real, I would die of fright!
And that was the true Alpha form??
The image of Sebastian with wings was fit for bed time stories. This however would give me nightmares.
Greg breaks the silence. And I hand the book back to my mate.
" Well that's the original Alpha true form. In ancient times, the alpha had that ability to shift both ways. Full wolf, and that. Its called Huxembeast. Back then, it's how a true Alpha was identified. If you could turn Huxembeast, then you were Goddess chosen."
It made me wonder what history we were taught about our kind. It was all bullshit! All this information was hidden! Kept secret. It made me feel like I didn't know my kind at all.
Sebastian still hadn't said anything. The image must have scared him too.
I couldn't blame him, finding out I could turn Huxembeast was scary as shit!
" Heyy.." I call out to him softly.
He looks at me with a small smile, but I could see the fear in his eyes.
I decide to take charge.. we needed a break.
" Why don't we pick up from here tomorrow or whenever.." I say as I pull Sebastian off the table. He doesn't object.
" Let's go take a walk.. so you can show me your wolf. I'm done watching him from a far. Besides, zane wants to pet him" I say to him. This makes him smile..
And I feel his excitement.
Greg agrees to pack up and it's agreed that we meet the next day to talk to the Alpha.
Sebastian and I head up the basement stairs and out into the open air. I breathe in deeply.. the air down there was just too stuffy.
We slowly make our way through the community and head straight for the woods. Sebastian is quiet the entire time. I don't say anything either. We both have alot to think about. My hand is held in his, and he occasionally rubs his thumb against the back of my palm. I take in the tall trees, the smell of the damp earth, the sounds of the birds chirping but the sound of the stream flowing is more distinct. Even from this far, I could clearly make out the sound of the water as it hits rocks, or when it's making a bend. Or the splashing when birds hit it's surface. I just loved the sound of running water. It calmed me. When I found it hard to sleep, I would often play the sound of running water and I would be out like a bulb within seconds.
We make our way to the stream and sit on the grass facing the running water.
We sit like that for a while, taking in the scenery. Each of us lost in our own thoughts. Till Sebastian breaks it.
"I need to confess something. I've never disclosed this to anyone. Not a single soul. You will be the first" he looks at me, and the vulnerability in his eyes breaks me. I turn and face him, then lean over and place a kiss on his lips. He kisses back, gently running his fingers through my hair.
" Anything you say will stay between us. But you don't have to tell me anything you don't want to."
" You are my mate. My very being belongs to you. My soul is incomplete without you. You should know." he says.
I nod. Readying myself for whatever it is he was willing to confess.
He takes in a deep breath then speaks, his words sending a cold chill down my spine.
" I can turn Huxembeast."
