22. Parents/The Drive

I woke up on the trampoline with a blanket over myself. It was about 6:00, I went to my bathroom and took a quick shower. I changed into jean shorts, my black sports bra, and a white muscle tee.

I brushed out my hair and dried it. I put on mascara and then put my glasses on and walked downstairs.

Nolan was in the kitchen. "I used the shower right down that hall if it's fine, and I took a shower." He said. "Yah it's fine." I said.

"And I made pancakes, eggs, and I went out and bought bacon for breakfast." He said. "Well thanks." I said smiling. He put out plates and gave me some food.

"It's weird." "What's weird?" He asked. "This, we haven't seen each other in 8 years and it felt like it's been so much more than that."

"How about today, you and I. Sight seeing around town and bring a bathing suit." He said. "I WOULD LOVE THAT." But then I thought.

"But I can't." I said frowning. "Why not?" He asked. "Zack and I were planning to go-" I was cut off.

"Go, you haven't seen each other in like eight years, right? Go, catch up on everything." Zack said coming up behind me and hugging me.

"Really?" I asked. "Yeah, I'll help Derek out with house work and stuff." He said. "Thanks." I said smiling at him.

"No problem." He said planting a huge kiss on my cheek. "So Lony, after breakfast we pack for a mini day trip?" Nolan asked. "Hell yeah." I said smiling.

I ran upstairs and knocked on everyone's doors, I walked into Lily's room and helped her changed. We walked downstairs and they ate.

I ran to my room and grabbed my black backpack. I put on my black bottom and hot pink bathing suit top. I put my clothes back on and I shoved my laptop and a book into my bag, along with my mascara, I put my glasses in their case then put it in my backpack. I also put in my chargers. I held my phone in my hand and put a water bottle in the side pocket. I slung my Nikon camera case around my neck.

I put on my sunglasses and walked downstairs. I tied on my black converse and went to the table where everyone was eating. "Morning everyone, I'm going to go out with Nolan today, so I'll see all of you guys later tonight, okay?" I said.

"K!" Everyone said. I kissed everyone on the cheek. When I got to Derek I smile. "Haha no." I said. I hugged him from behind though.

"I love you all, see you guys later!" I yelled. "Nice meeting you all." Nolan said.
"You too!" Everyone said.

We walked out of the door and started to walk to Nolan's house. "So how far's your house?" I asked him. "About a mile away." He said. "Oh, well that's not that far." I said.

"Haha yeah, so where do you want me to bring you today?" He asked. "Anywhere you think is worth for me to see." "Then I know exactly where you would love to go." He said smiling.

A few minutes later we got to his house. He unlocked the door and walked in. "Mom, Dad! I'm home, and I have someone you like to meet!" He yelled. "Were in the living room." His dad yelled.

"Oh and Avalon, I'd like you to meet Maggie." As soon as I knew it a huge husky ran over to me. "No." I said smiling. "You got freaking dog." I bent over and pet her.

"Let's go to the living room." He said. He grabbed my hand and pulled me into the living room. Both his parents looked at me. "Avalon Briggs. Well isn't it good to see you again." His mom said standing up and hugging me. "Hey darling." His dad said hugging me.

"Hi guys." I said smiling. "You've grown up so much, what have you been up to here in California?" His mom, Jenni asked. "I live here now." I said smiling. "You should of brang your pare- Nolan why are you shaking your head?" His dad, Patrick asked.

I looked at Nolan and Nolan grabbed both his parents and pulled them away. They came back and sat. "Sorry." Patrick said. "It's alright, I love my orphanage mom, and I love everyone in the house." I said.

"Mom, I'm going to take Avalon sightseeing today." "Of course! Have fun guys." Jenni said. We ran up to Nolan's room, his dog Maggie, followed us. He grabbed a new shirt and shorts and he freshened up and grabbed his bookbag. We ran downstairs. "See you later guys!" He yelled. "BYE PAT, BYE JENN!" I yelled.

"Have fun!" We walked into his garage, and he had a jeep. Why the hell does everyone have a jeep. I got in the front seat, Nolan opened the garage door, I pulled out, he shut the garage door, then I scooted to the shotgun and he sat in the back of the wheel.

"So where to now?" I asked. "It's a surprise." He said smiling at me. We were on the road for about 30 minutes. The sun was up high and there were no clouds either.

"Where are we going?" I complained to him. "Stop complaining or I'll turn this jeep back around." I shut up and he laughed. "So we need to catch up ok everything. How's life been here for you?" He asked. "Well I've only been here for like a little over a week, and I got a boyfriend, Zack, and I'm in love with all of the kids. And Derek is okay I guess." I said.

"What do you mean, by 'Derek's okay.' What did he do to you?" "Just complicated things happened." We stopped at a stop light and he looked at me. "What complicated things?"

"Well his girlfriend and him broke up, and he tried to make a move on me. And I said we couldn't bc we lived in the same house and then yesterday at the boardwalk he kissed me again and yeah." The light turned green and we continued. "Wait so he kissed you while you and Zack were dating?" "Well Zack and I weren't official yet."
