I took out my iPhone and started a video.
"Hey guys so right now I'm walking to the beach with my orphanage family and a couple of my friends. It's a bright day in California today. So I'm glad about that."
Michelle's phone rang. We ignored it. A few minutes later, before we stepped onto the boardwalk, she spoke. "Guys I have to go to work there's an emergency. I'll see you all tomorrow." She said walking away.
"Just like she usually is." Morgan said. "Come on guys, let's just get in the happy mood."
We all got onto the beach and sat down on a huge blanket that Derek laid out for us.
Everyone jumped into the water. "So Nolan, what song should we cover?" I asked.
"Not sure, let's go through songs. Take me to church? Hozier?" "Don't know all the lyrics."
"Problem, Ariana?" "Covered it already."
"I know a song, we used to listen to it all the time when we were little, do you know?" He asked.
I thought it out. "Hey Soul Sister, TRAIN!" I yelled out. "But we, are going to do an acoustic version." He said smiling.
"Well alrighty then, we got our song choice." I said. "To be honest, I haven't listened to that song in a while, but I still remember the lyrics."
"Wanna run through it?" He asked.
Fore a few minutes we just ran through the song. And I'll say that we got it down pretty good.
In the middle of our last run, everyone from out orphanage started to gather around. It was really awkward and I was getting nervous, but I pretty much just kept staring at Nolan so, I was fine.
He was the only one who know I ever sang so when I look at him, I feel like it's just him and I so.
After the last time we ran through it I took off my shirt, skirt, and converse, then ran into the water. The water was actually a bright sort of see through blue, unlike in New York where it's brown.
I swam around for about 20 minutes. I stepped out of the water and walked to the blanket, Nolan was completely snoring. Derek and Zack were tossing around a baseball.
I smiled like an idiot when I thought of something. All our things were on a separate blanket.
"Morgan, Logan, Jack, Lily, Jeremy grab a bucket." Derek and Zack's attention soon went to us. They walked over curious.
"Guys come on, we need to fill up these buckets." I said rushing to the ocean. We slowly walked over to Nolan. Zack and Derek were looking at us like we were crazy. "On three we dump it on Nolan."
Everyone smiled and nodded. "One, two, THREE!" Lily yelled out. We all tossed the water onto Nolan.
We all laughed and he sat up and laughed. "Haha that was funny, who thought of it?" He asked smiling. "AVALON." Everyone said out loud and pointed at me.
I had an innocent smile on my face and ran into the ocean. Nolan followed me, wrapped his arms around my waist and slammed me under the water.
"Not so funny anymore right?" He asked as I came up from under the water. "Very, not as funny as this." I went under water and pulled both of his knees, causing him to fall.
"Asshole." He said. "I'll be here all week!" I yelled running back to the blanket.
"Nolan, take a video of Morgan and I playing volleyball? For my vlog." I said.
"Yeah sure." He said.
I ran past Zack and pecked him on the lips. Morgan took the volleyball. For a little we just passed around. "Hey can we join?" A guy asked with I think his little brother.
"Um, yeah sure." I said while looking at Morgan. "I'm Jaxton, but I prefer Jax, and this is my little brother Parker. I'm newly 20 and he's 11."
"I'm Avalon, this is Morgan. I'm newly 18 and she's 13." We played a little game and obviously Morgan and I won.
"You guys are good." He said. "Thanks." Morgan and I said in unison. "So my brother and I are going to dinner later, do you guys think you'd be interested. As like a double date?"
"Sorry, I have a boyfriend." I said. "But hey, it was nice to meet you." I said smiling sticking my arm out. "Yeah, nice to meet you too, and if you ever wanna play volleyball, I live in that beach house right there." He said and smiled.
He walked away but his brother Parker stayed. "How about you Morgan, wanna go out sometime?" I stood and tried I hold in my laugh. Parker was two years younger than her which made it so much cuter.
"I have a boyfriend." She said. I saw her cheeks turn red and it was honestly the cutest thing. "Alright." Parker said and walked away.
Morgan and I laughed. "Damn. Avalon, why do you always have guys drooling over you? I only remember that weird 10 year old making castles with Popsicle sticks." "I don't know, not a lot of guys really liked me back in NY, I don't know why it's any different here." I said.
"Maybe it's cause you're hot in a bikini." Jack said while looking at his phone. Derek slapped the back of Jack's head. "What? You know it's true." Zack looked at him and slapped the back of his head.
"Well yeah, cause she's my girlfriend and she's pretty much your sister. So you called your own sister hot. Think about it for a little." Zack said.
Jack shivered and everyone else laughed.
"Avalon, what was that all about?" "What?" I asked Zack. "What was going on with that guy?" He asked.
"Okay, Zack. You know I love you. But you seriously need to calm down. When I'm with you, I'm not going to be with anyone else. Okay? We just had a fun game and that's it, okay?" I kissed his cheek.
"Yeah, okay." Zack said.
"Hey everyone, Mom texted saying we have to go home and wear something extremely formal for dinner, so let's go." Derek said.
"It sucks, we reserved and paid for nine, and mom isn't coming."
"DEREK, can I invite someone?" Morgan yelled.
"Yeah sure." He said. "NOLAN BRING MY THINGS HOME AND ALL OF YOU GO AHEAD!"
She ran over to Jax's door and knocked, I followed her. He opened up. "Hey, my family and I are going out for dinner, do you wanna come?" Morgan asked. "Yeah sure, what should I wear?"
"Something extremely formal, meet us at the boardwalk." Morgan said.
"Here's my number, text me and I'll text you more about it." Morgan took out a marker from my bookbag and wrote my number on his forearm. "Well alright, see you later." He said.
"BYE!"
I started at her. "I can't believe you just did that." I said and laughed.
