As I walked to my seat in my two piece black v-neck top and matching maxi skirt, everyone clapped for me, it was weird but cool. We sat at the tables, when all teams were seated, the host stepped up.
"Hello everyone! That was the end of day two, and here are the stats..." The host read them out but I didn't really listen.
"We would like to honor someone who made history today. So can Avalon Briggs from the Blue Jays, please come up?" He asked.
Nolan nudged me smiling and everyone clapped as I walked up to the stage. The host shook my hand and the spot light went on me. It made me feel weird.
"So this girl right here. Number one, she hit the first grand slam in three whole years on these fields, or in this tournament." Everyone started cheering and I smiled. "And that's not even it, she's the first female ever, to play in a game in this tournament. Out of all 16 years, there has never been a teen female player to play, and complete an entire game." He said.
Everyone clapped my team the loudest, and the tornados weren't clapping at all. Owen was about to, but a friend of his held his arm.
It was awkward, I just stood and smiled. "And because of this, we offer personal plaque of excellence, this trophy, and a plaque placed in the Tournament Hall of Fame in the Micktimes Indoor Batting Cages/Baseball Field!" He yelled
Four people came up on the stage. One put the medal around my neck, another handed me the huge trophy, the third handed the host the plaque, and the fourth took a picture of the host and I.
After all that, we are dinner, and walked up. By then it was 9:50. The trophy on the table in Nolan's room, the medal next to it, and I went out to Jackson.
"Hey, I'm going somewhere with Owen." I said. "Yeah, alright, text me if anything happens or stuff." I nodded and changed into a white blouse, blue jean shorts and my converse then walked out of the room. It was 9:58 and I saw Owen in the lobby with a single rose.
He was wearing khakis, a royal blue flannel, a white t-shirt, and vans. He then held out the rose.
"Really?" I said smiling. "Really." He said smiling. He broke off most of the stem but left a little on. He then tucked it behind my ear. "Thanks." I said smiling. "Ready to go?"
"Yeah." I said smiling. We started walking to the theater. "So what movie to you wanna watch?" He asked me. "Not to be rude, but can we not go to the movies, it's just that in movies you're not allowed to speak, and I kinda wanna talk to you, and get to know you better." I said to Owen.
"Yeah, sure. I know a park close by, and it's close to a cafe." He said. "Yeah, that'd be fun." I said.
"I'm sorry, by the way." He said. "For what?" I asked. "The lake earlier, the team followed me there." He said. "No, it's fine." I said.
He opened the door to the cafe and we got in line. "But seriously, you're amazing at baseball." He said. "Ugh stop." I said rolling my eyes.
"It's true." He said. When we got up, he ordered sweetened ice tea. "What do you want?" He asked. "Same thing." I took out my money. "No, it's on me." He said.
We continued to speak while waiting for our drinks. When we got them, we walked to the park, and walked around.
"So can you tell me more about you?" I asked him. "Well, I've played baseball since I was like six, my life pretty much like was made around my baseball schedule. I live in California, obviously. I have an older brother but he's like 24 now. Oh and I'm 19 if you were wondering." He said. "Oh I'm 18, just so you know." I said laughing.
For summer, New York was getting pretty chilly. "Are you cold?" He asked. "No, I'm fine." I said rubbing my arms.
"Obviously you're not." He said. He took a sweatshirt out if his book bag and handed it to me. He held my drink as I put it on. "Thanks." I said smiling.
"So what are some of your hobbies besides baseball?" I asked him. "Well my life was all about sports, and school, and stuff like that. But I longboard, and surf, how about you?" He asked.
"I have so many, like I like writing stories, photography, drawing, painting, softball, and baseball, volleyball, penny boarding, longboarding, and fashion, well my really fashion but I like fashion." I said.
"You're a lady of many talents." He said laughing. "Haha yeah, I guess so." I said smiling.
It was about 10:40 when we sat down in the middle of the park, on the grass, against the tree. "Do you know there are over a million microscopic bugs that were sitting and leaning on right now?" I said laughing.
"You're so weird." He said laughing. "But I don't care about the bugs if you don't." He said smiling. "Yeah, I get that a lot. And I love nature and like everything about it." I said laughing.
My phone started to buzz and buzz and buzz. "You should get that." He said laughing. "Sorry." I said. He started to play music as I checked my messages.
Zack// When are you coming home.
Zack// Come home now.
Zack// Now.
Zack// Now.
Morgan// Zack stop! Just leave her alone, we'd be fine without her.
Jack// Morgan, really? Avalon could see the messages.
Morgan// I don't care she doesn't belong here anymore.
Logan// I agree, Avalon's blaming things on Margo, even though Margo didn't do anything.
Jack// True. After that I shut off my phone and I felt like crying. "You alright?" Owen asked. "Yeah just stuff back home." I said.
"Wanna talk about it?" He asked. "Well so we had a baby sitter and stuff and I caught my boyfriend, well ex boyfriend, with her and everyone thought I was lying and now they all hate me." I said.
"Well how about we talk about it more as we walk to the hotel." He said. I nodded. The rest of the way back we talked about my problems, when we got to the lobby, we stood. "I'm sorry, all I did was talk about me tonight." I said. "No, I liked it. I liked learning about you." He said.
"Well, thanks." I said smiling. "Oh and I also wanted to give you this. It was my Mom's and she said to hand it down to someone who felt special. My dad gave it to her on the second day they met." He said.
He put a silver necklace with a heart charm around my neck. "Really?" I asked. He nodded. "Thanks." I said smiling. We both clicked the up button on two different elevators. "Today was fun, tomorrow night too?" He asked me. "Definitely."
The elevators came down and we both got on. I took off Owens Tornado sweatshirt and shoved it into my back pack. When I opened the door to my room, the entire team was still awake.
"We were just talking about how much we hate the torn- Why do you have a flower in your hair, and that necklace?" Nolan asked. "I bought it, do you like it?"
Jackson looked at me and laughed.
Everyone sat and looked at each other confused. "Uh... Yeah, I'm tired. I'm going to go to sleep." I said. Since the guys were all in the living room, I changed into my pajamas and fell asleep in Nolan's bed.
