This morning was a really productive morning. I met my tutor, and yeah that's like it. But it felt so productive. It was only 9 o'clock in the morning.

"Avalon, can you do me a favorite and go to the store? It's just down the street. Jack why don't you go with her." Michelle said. "Yeah sure!" I said. "What do you need mom?" He said. I love how everyone calls Michelle their mom. It shows how much of a family they have grown into, and I just come and ruin it all.

"Just lettuce and carrots, Jack come get the money." She said. Jack ran into the kitchen and grabbed the money.

I took my phone and shoved it into my back pocket.

Jack and I then walked out the door and walked down into town. "Hey Jack, are you close with Derek?" I asked him. "Yeah, why?" He asked me.

"What does he think of me?" I asked him. "I don't really know, we never talked about you." He said while pressing the crosswalk button.

"But does he hate me?" I asked him. "Nah, Derek's not like that. Sometimes he just doesn't like the fact that we get new additions. Like the last person who came here was Lily. He thought she was the last because it was two years later and no one else came. But then you came. Not that it's a bad thing, it's just that Derek wasn't ready for another addition." Jack said to me.

We crossed the street and went into the market, we got the carrots and lettuce and paid for them. We then started to walk back to the house.

"Everyone's saying he gets over it in like three hours, is that true?" I asked, Jack nodded. "So what makes me any different, it's like he actually hates me." I said.

"I don't know, but I'll ask him if you want." Jack said. "Yes, please." I said.

We got home and we gave Michelle the things. I walked up to my room. I sat on the window sill and grabbed my sketch book and a pencil. I started to draw what I saw.

I first drew the window and the windowsill, then the beach, the palm trees, the ocean, and then just added details. I took my phone and then called Officer Nicole. A few rings later, she picked up.

Nicole// Hey Avalon!
Avalon// Hey!
Nicole// Whats up?
Avalon// Nothing, met my tutor today and he's really nice!
Nicole// Oh really?
Avalon// Really!
Nicole// How's everyone been treating you?

I put my phone on speaker so I didn't need to hold it up to my face. I continued to draw.

Avalon// Good, but Derek...
Nicole// What about him? Did he do any harm?
Avalon// No, it's just that everyone in this house, literally considers me a part of their family now. But it seems like Derek hates me. I don't know why.
Nicole// Maybe he just needs time to take in the new person in his life.
Avalon// Everyone said that, and everyone said that he usually gets over it in the first three hours.
Nicole// Maybe you should try starting the conversation.
Avalon// That is a good idea.
Nicole// Well I gotta get back to my shift, just text me whats going on. Talk to you soon! Bye!
Avalon// Bye!

I added some more detail to my drawing. The last thing I drew was the sunset in the back round. I looked out my window and took a deep breath in and out.

I stepped down from the windowsill and walked out of my room. I walked to Derek's which was the door to the right of mine. I was about to knock when the door opened. He was about to step out when he saw me.

He took a step to the side of me and went around. "Hey Derek. I'm Avalon." I said sticking out my hand. He stared at it and walked down the hallway. "I know that." He said.
