I was now a completely new day. I woke up in my room once again. It was just about 5:30 in the morning and I felt like today is going to be an amazing day.
I stood up, opened my window and watched the sun rise. After the sun was up, I put on mascara, put on my glasses, and changed into my outfit of the day. Which were black jean shorts, a tie dye sports bra and a white muscle tee.
I walked downstairs and into the kitchen. I got some pancake mix and turned on the stove. I cut up some fruits and set them out onto the table. I then made pancakes and set out the syrup and juice.
It was about seven when everyone started coming down. "I missed you making breakfast." Lily said smiling at me. "Well, you know, I love making breakfast for all of you." I said laughing.
We all continued to eat as our orphanage mom came down. "Nice too see you again Avalon." She said smiling and hugging me. "You too mama." I said smiling. "I'll see you all tonight." She said while walking out the door."You just got back from like a concussion or something, and she still leaves for work." Morgan said shaking her head. "Hey guys, she's working hard for you guys, and for me. She's the one making most of the money." I said.
"Oh, right." Morgan said. "Hey guys, how about after breakfast we head out back and just hang outside today? And Morgan, you could invite Jeremy over." I asked. They all agreed and after they ate they ran upstairs.
Derek stayed and helped clean up. "Hey, I'm sorry." He said while handing me plates. "For what?" I asked. "Don't pretend like you don't know, everything. Meaning with Margo and sexually harassing you. I noticed how much you mean to everyone in this orphanage, including me, and I don't want to jeopardize that."
"It's alright, but can I ask you one thing?" I asked as I shut the dishwasher. "Yeah." "Why'd you kiss me?" I asked and stared at him. "I guess I was all stressed out with Cat and stuff." "Oh."
We talked it out a little then walked upstairs. I took out my black bikini, tied it behind my back, then put on the bottom. I put on my muscle tee, sunglasses, and then I got a message from Nolan.
Nolan// O Lony O Lony, let down your fucking hair and let me up.
I looked out and down the window and saw Nolan. "GLAD YOU GOT MY TEXT." He said and laughed. "Can I come up?" He yelled. "Yeah!" He climbed up the ladder and into my room.
"Good, you wore your swim shorts, were heading to the back yard." I said. "Yay, fun!" He said in his obnoxious girl voice. I grabbed my laptop, phone, towel, and Nolan and I walked downstairs.
When we got out, I laid my stuff on a beach chair, got onto the trampoline, and Nolan followed. We started jumping up and down and just talked.
"So how'd you like the baseball trip?" He said while jumping down onto his butt. "Well it was one hell of a trip for me, I don't know about you." I said laughing.
"Yeah, I still can't believe that Owen proposed to you. Like I see why he would but, man you are only eighteen." He said.
"And why would he ask me?" I asked while smiling at Nolan. "Well look at you, you're beautiful, you're charming, you're romantic, you're personality is quote on quote on fleek. You're perfect." Nolan said smirking at me.
"Shut up." He said laughing at me. "Dude it's true!" He said laughing at me. I have him a look and he swung his arm around my shoulder. I leaned my head against his shoulder and crossed my legs.
"Why couldn't it be like this? The two of us? In New York. With Nico and Lola running around, and my parents in the house cooking our favorite dinner? Why couldn't it just be that?" I asked.
Nolan scooted in front of me, held my hands, and looked me in the eyes. "Lonix, everything happens for a reason. If you didn't come to this orphanage, and if you haven't went to the boardwalk that one day, we possibly would've never reunited."
"That's true, I just miss them. I miss picking up Lola and Nico, then my parents and all of us going to the softball field. Sometimes even with you before you moved." I said while wiping a tear away.
"But look around us now, look at the now and not the past. You have a beyond amazing orphanage family, you have your best friend sitting right here next to you. Just look at the future." He said and then scooted back to my right side.
He held out his hand and I grabbed a hold of if.
"It's so hard to let go of it though. I watched our house burn down, with my family in it. And I did nothing." I said while whipping more tears away.
"Avalon, you did do something, you called 911. And look, the house is now another orphanage. You're helping other teens and kids with having a house to go to." Nolan said.
He wiped a tear of mine away, kissed my cheek, and said, "it's going to get better, and if it doesn't, I'm going to make it better."
