In Another Life

Chapter 54

The night seemed to almost pass in a blur. I was in a constant state of grogginess. Constantly zoning out in between conversations that my cadets shared around the dinner table. I couldn't help it though. I was burning up. I felt terrible.

I thought I was doing a decent job at disguising my uncomfortableness but Levi saw right through it.

I felt Levis warm hand snake in between my legs pushing them apart to grab a firm hold on my thigh before feeling his lips graze against the shell of my ear.

"Your not looking so good Ackerman. Maybe I should take you upstairs to rest." He was already in the process of standing up, grabbing a firm hold onto my elbow carefully pulling me upwards into his embrace.

The Table fell silent as me and Levis exit drew their attention.

"Don't over do it cadets, both squads are to report onto the field by sunrise. Don't make me come to hunt any of you down. Or you and your squad will be running's laps until dawn. Mrs. Ackermans squad will be training beneath me for the remaining duration of her pregnancy." Levi tone hardened as he spoke to both of our squads.

Pulling me further into my chest I allow myself to relax further into his embrace. Feeling his free arm quickly swipe my legs out from under me so I was now being held bridal style.

Levi had his back to our squads as his eyes fell down into mine.

My body was exhausted. Fighting to keep my eyes open. I could feel my body melt into Levis arms. It didn't take a genius to know something was going on with my body. And Levi was painfully aware of that fact. 

"Yes sir!" My cadets and his all said in unison as Levi continued to make our way to the exit.

"At dawn cadets, not a minute late." Levi said over his shoulder.

The night was filled with discomfort and Dispear. I was in a constant state of pain. The small ache that had formed in the pit of my stomach had turned into my insides being ripped apart from the inside out.

I was drenched in sweat tossing and turning in the sheets. Unable to find any comfort even in Levi's embrace.

I could tell he was worried. He hadn't taken his hands off of me the entire night. He had only left my side momentarily to walk Kanekis over to Hanges quarters so he would get a better chance at rest.

Rolling back over into my side I collide with Levis chest.

Looking up through my weary eyes I see Levi. Not yet asleep. But propped up shirtless on elbow. He was staring, studying me closely. He looked just as exhausted as I did. But somehow more so.

"Y/N.... I need you to rest. You need to sleep.... whatever this is off so my sanity can return. Your driving me absolutely crazy with worry." His arm snakes around my back pushing my closer to him.

Allowing him to pull me further in as I rest my cheek against his toned chest.

"I'm trying... I just ... I just feel so sick. I've never felt like this before." Cuddling closer into his embrace I let out a breath I was holding in.

Both of his hands find my back. He allows the pads of his fingers to touch my skin just barley enough to send shivers up my spine. As he glides them up and down slowly over my back.

"Please Y/N.... try for me." His lips were at my ear again. Delivering tender kisses up and down the shell of my ear as his fingers continued to dance over my back. Feeling myself drift further and further into a shallow sleep. Levis touch slowly begins to disappear.
