Authors note: There will be a time skip in this chapter so look out for it. It will be 4 months.
......................................................................"Kaneki don't touch that, what did your father tell you when we left?" Looking back at Kaneki over my shoulder as I hand the street vendor my coin.
"That if I was a good boy and listened to mommy he would take me out on his horse when we got back." He drops his hands down to his side after playing with a orange.
The sweet old man steps forward handing Kaneki the same orange he was eyeing.
"Here you go son. You just stay a good boy for your mother." He brought his hand down to ruffle Kaneki's hair.
Kaneki looks up at the old man in awww and then it quickly turns to fear, as he realizes a person he doesn't know is touching him. Bringing his hand up he swats the old mans hand away with much more force then I thought he had. He quickly clings to my side, glaring up at the old man as he holds tightly onto the orange.
Almost shocked by his actions myself I have to quickly wipe the look from my face. Bringing my hand hand to rub Kaneki's back I look up at the old man.
He was holding onto the hand that Kaneki had swatted away with his other, a look of fear and confusion in his eyes.
"Sorry we are still teaching him man-" Reaching forward to collect the bags containing meat for tonight's dinner.
Hange had asked me to go into town today to fetch the meat we needed for our celebration, the scouts had come back with yet another successful outing, I was hoping we were nearing the end. I mean I was only 4 months and a few weeks along but a girl could still dream right?
"Well try harder, or better yet have that father of his teach him a lesson, looks like your boy over here could benefit from a lesson or tw-"
The mans hand came down to swat at Kaneki's face but was quickly stopped as someone grabbed ahold of his wrist causing the old man to cry out in pain.
"And you thought you'd be the one to teach him that lesson old man? Tch, someone ought to teach you not to touch what isn't yours." Levi's hand only tightened around the mans wrist.
Levi stared the old man down as I quickly fumbled to collect our bags from the vendors table.
Releasing the mans hand and shoving him back in the process Levi pulls out a few coins tossing it at the mans face.
"We don't need your pity for a orange or your parenting advice. Keep the change." Levis hand had come to the small of my back guiding me and Kaneki away from the rude old man.
Once out of sight of the old man. Levi dropped his eyes to check on Kaneki as he reached out to grab the bags from my hands.
"You don't touch things that aren't yours, I'm not going to scold you for swatting the mans hand away, he has no right to touch you. But do try to keep in mind son, not everyone wants to hurt you. That one just so happened to, you have excellent judgment. You'll have to keep that up if your going to protect your sister." Levi grinned at Kaneki as he looked back up at me. Bringing himself up from a squat.
"Encouraging vilonace now are we? You really want another angry Ackerman running around here busting jaws every chance he gets?" I whisper into Levis ear as he brings his hand back down to the small of my back directing us back to our wagon.
