In Another Life

Chapter 28

Clasping the belts secure on my inner thighs I raise my head up to look at my reflection in the broken mirror my room had. It must have belonged to the previous cadet who occupied my room.

My finger traces to wings of freedom embroidery that sat above my left breast. The new scouts uniforms were actually quite stylish. You had matt black combat boots on and black jeans. Buckles running all the way down both of my thighs I tug on them to make sure they are secure. Looking up, the new new scout uniforms had protective chest plates that sat right over my breast. Everything fit you surprisingly a little to well. You looked almost sexy?

It took Erwin a few minutes to be able to locate your size in the new uniform.  I wasn't really sure if it was the fact that I was standing before him in only a towel or that he was honestly having a hard time locating my size. You had lost a tremendous amount of weight due to being malnourished in the underground. Eventually Erwin was able to locate your size. You almost laugh out loud at the memory of him shielding his eyes from you as he handed your clothes over.

Backing up and doing a small spin to check out the entire look. You allow a small smile to cross your lips. Although the underground was rough. It was nearly impossible to find someone to cut hair. Your hair eventually grew all the way to your ass. Pulling your straight black hair back past your shoulders you take a deep breath preparing yourself to be re introduced to everyone.

Pushing the doors open to the cafeteria you keep your head hanging low never bringing your eyes up off the ground. Managing to go un noticed you grab a water and head to the furthest table away from the cadets.

Taking a seat so my back was facing everyone I let out a heavy sigh. Picking up my roll of bread I pull a small piece off and plop it into my mouth. I was instantly brought out of my trance by Kaneki screaming.

"MOMMMMMMYYYYYY!!!!!!!!" Kaneki was almost crying as he ran at me.

Immediately standing up from my seat turning around I drop down on one knee just in time to catch Kaneki slamming hard full force into my chest.

Squeezing him as tight as I could I closed my eyes and inhaled his smell deeply. He smelled just like his father.

Opening my eyes. Levi is standing frozen at the cafeteria doors staring at us as if he was almost in pain. His fists clench slightly and I could see both of his arms begin to shake. Dropping my eyes from him I pull back from Kaneki to get a better look at him.

"Oh my look how handsome my little man is!!" You grab ahold of Kanekis cheek playfully tugging at it.

"I'm not that little anymore mommy.!" Kaneki argues back.

Pushing my knee off the ground the straighten myself out I lift Kaneki with me.

"We missed you so much mommy! Daddy cried every night you were gone. Daddy let me stay with auntie Hange while him and his scouts left for months. Daddy said he was gonna bring you home but you never came home." Kanekis grip tightens and he buries his face into my chest.

Causing Levi to come into my sight of view. He was still standing in the same spot looking down to the side with his jaw clenched. It looked like he was trying to swallow something. His eyes looked up meeting mine. He was crying.

"Mommy are you coming back to our room with daddy?!" Kaneki pulled away to ask you.

Levi eyes never left yours. A single tear dropped from his eyes. He still held your gaze. Waiting to hear your answer too. As I watched his body continue to tremble uncontrollably now.

Pulling your eyes away from Levi. Putting on a fake smile and look back into Kanekis eyes. God he resembled his father so much. With each passing day he started to looked less like you and more like Levi.
