"Texas. I need to talk to ya."
Texas glanced up from the TV at Tennessee who was standing, weirdly timidly, next to him.
"Can't you see I'm busy?" Texas asked.
"It'll take a minute!" Tennessee groaned already regretting this decision.
"Fine." Texas muttered pausing the TV. "What's wrong?" Silence fell between both of them.
"Can we talk somewhere private?" Tennessee asked, gesturing down to Texas's lap where DC and California both were sleeping.
"They're dead to the world, they won't hear nothin'." Texas pointed out. Tennessee was now really regretting this decision.
"Look. How did you figure out.....y'know...."
"I'm not following you." Texas pointed out.
"Y'know....how'd you figure out how you were....different?" Tennessee asked.
"Different how? Like how my football team kicks ass every year?" Texas asked.
"No not--" Tennessee took a deep breath. "How did you figure out you were gay?" Texas sucked in a sharp breath.
"That's a complicated question Tennessee." Texas muttered. "I had to go through a lot to accept who I was."
"Oh that doesn't help me." Tennessee groaned leaning back.
"Ten, do you think you're--"
"I DON'T KNOW OKAY?" Tennessee hissed. "I....I just....I was hoping you saw California one day and was like 'damn' and that's what made you gay."
"I dated plenty of men before I met my partners." Texas pointed out with a playful smile. He leaned in as close as he could and smirked.
"So who's the lucky guy?" Texas asked.
"TEXAS."
"Oh c'mon now, I won't tell the rest of the south! Who is it?" Texas asked.
"I....I'd rather not say." Tennessee muttered.
"Is he one of the states?" Texas asked and Tennessee went red. "AHA I knew it!"
"Look just shut up okay!" Tennessee yelled jumping up. "It's not important!"
"Tell me about him." Texas begged thoroughly, enjoying this. Tennessee groaned.
"He....he's....got these eyes that just....shine in the sunlight and....his hair just looks so soft, I want to run my hands through it." Tennessee said dreamily.
"God if I wasn't already gay this would make me gayer." Texas said with a soft smile.
"But it's useless, he'd never like me." Tennessee muttered sitting back down on the couch.
"Have you tried?"
"No....but I don't know if he feels the same way." Tennessee whispered.
"Look, let me give you some advice." Texas said. "Sometimes you have to take the risk and ask."
"Easy for you to say." Tennessee muttered looking down at DC and California slumbering peacefully on Texas's lap. "Your relationships were so easy."
"No they weren't, they were a lot of work. It took me ages to ask out California, even more to get the other four on board, and you saw what happened when we first met sugar." Texas explained. He looked down at his two sleeping boyfriend's and smiled, smoothing out their hair.
"It's worth it in the end to have someone, or multiple who love you, it's worth taking that leap." Texas whispered.
"Thanks Texas, that was sweet." Tennessee said with a smile.
"So c'mon, who is it?" Texas asked. Before Tennessee could respond, Kentucky came tumbling into the kitchen.
"Texas, I need that TV in an hour, daddy's doing one of his table side chats." Kentucky announced opening up the fridge. Texas furrowed his brow and looked at Tennessee who gave him a 'yep' look. He quickly looked back at Kentucky and Tennessee before shouting, causing both his boyfriend's to suddenly jolt awake.
"HIM?"
