Peter's POV

She felt so tiny and fragile, when I hugged her. Normally I wouldn't even notice, or really think about our height difference. When she had her chin fallen closer to the ground, because she cried, and I held my head slightly up, we fit perfectly together. Her sudden fit wasn't about me not calling her, it was because she was afraid of losing me. I didn't get it at first, but as soon as I tried to put myself in her place, it became crystal clear. I didn't want to lose her either, and at least she knew that now, like I knew how scared she was of losing me too. When she pulled back, she raised her head, so our lips were inches apart, just like in the movies. I think she noticed that, and that's why she closed her eyes, and let her head bump casually into my chest. "I can't believe I've cried in front of you twice today," she chuckled out, as she pushed her head back from my chest.

"Some day you might see me cry too," I chuckled out, making her smile down at the ground.

"I'd like that," her eyes brightened up, as she spoke now. Probably because they were still a little watery. "I'm gonna go brush my teeth," she smiled and walked past me, out to their bathroom. "We have a spare toothbrush, if you want to stay here for the night!" she yelled from the bathroom. I was about to decline, because I thought we had school the next day, and I didn't have any clothes or my backpack. "The school is closed tomorrow because of renovation, so we can just do some training or something tomorrow," she mumbled with her toothbrush in her mouth, as she came back into her room.

"Alright I'll stay here then," I smiled and we both walked out to the bathroom, and got ready to sleep. We ended up agreeing on, Rue sleeping in her own bed, and me out on the couch.

The middle of the field seemed to be far from everything, as I looked around at the beautiful nature. Birds singing, sun shining and green grass up to your ankles. I couldn't help but smile, when I noticed Rue waving at me at the end of the field. She was crying, and smiling at the same time. It was a beautifully haunting moment to witness. I felt like my feet sunk into the ground when she was suddenly standing on the edge of a shear, screaming my name. I looked down at my feet, that slowly got covered by the grass growing around them. I looked back up at Rue, who reached an arm out right before she fell.

"RUE NO!" I sat up and screamed as loud as I could, out into the dark living room. I looked around the room panicked, before realizing it had just been a dream.

"Peter are you okay?!" I heard Rue ask frightened, as she appeared in the doorway. I noticed how rapid I was breathing, and put a hand to my chest, in order to calm myself down a little. She raced over to me, sat down on the sofa and gently put her hand to my forehead and brushed some of my hair back. I gotta be honest and say it helped a whole lot, with the calming me down process, but it was safe to say I was still in chock. "Nightmare?" she asked. I swallowed a big lump in my throat, and looked down.

"Yeah," I whispered, and noticed her hand down on my bedsheets. I felt the urge to take in and let our fingers intervene, just to make sure she really was there.

"Come on," she calmly exclaimed, and took my hand, with the one I had just starred at. She pulled me up from the sofa and then let go of my hand, making it feel slightly colder. We walked into her room, and she laid down under the warm duvet. I didn't know what she wanted me to do, so I just stood there confused and kinda awkward, looking at her. "You do know, girl cooties aren't a real thing right?" she asked, and lifted the duvet up, where she wanted me to lay. I couldn't help but smile, as I laid down, and she let the duvet fall peacefully down onto my cooled body.

It didn't take long for Rue to fall back to sleep again. She took really deep breaths, when she slept, so it wasn't hard to tell when she drifted off. Me on the other hand. I twisted and turned in the bed, but I just couldn't find peace. At last I gave up and just starred up at the ceiling, counting Rue's breaths. I wouldn't say I ran out of patience, but I was certainly bored, so I looked over at Rue. She was facing away from me and laying on her side. I could not describe how badly I wanted to be sleeping, like she was at that moment. I fiddled a little with her hair, but she then turned around in the bed, and moved her body up against mine. She moved her leg so far up, It was resting on my lower stomach, meanwhile her face was buried in my neck, and her hand laying on my chest. At first I just starred at her, not knowing what to do with myself. At last I carefully adjusted my arm, so I was more comfortable, than I had been the whole night. It was physically impossible for me, not to smell her hair, since it was right under my nose. It smelled so wonderfully of lavender, and cherries. I finally closed my eyes, and let my hand rest upon hers on my chest, to gain even more comfort. It didn't take long for me to drift off.
