I opened the door and was met with yelling immediately. "Where the hell have you been!?" my mom shouted directly into my face, before I had even had the chance to take off my shoes and jacket.
"School trip," I simply answered, clearly not matching her tone.
"We called your school, and there's no field trip! So you better start telling the goddamn truth!" my mom then hissed, as I took off my shoes. I looked up at her from being hunkered down, to untie my converse.
"Why do you even care? I haven't talked to you and dad for two months," I said, and straightened up again. At this point my dad had entered the entrance too.
"We care because we're your parents Rue!" My father yelled at me.
"ARE YOU? CAUSE LAST I CHECKED, PARENTS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE THERE FOR THEIR CHILD! and lately you two have been nothing but away." I stormed by my mom and was about to walk to my room, when my dad grabbed my wrist, and turned me back around.
"THAT DOESN'T GIVE YOU THE RIGHT TO DISAPPEAR LIKE THAT!" My dad yelled into my face, but I didn't let my affection by his words show.
"Let go of me," I silently said, while starring into his burning eyes.
"SAY THAT YOU WERE WRONG!" he gave me a sudden and rough shook, as he yelled.
"Okay dad... you wanna know what I think about you two? I think you're a couple of selfish, arrogant, childish and I'm not even gonna call you parents!" I hissed back. He didn't change a feature, but I could feel his grip around my wrist tighten. I then leaned my head slightly back, scoffed and shook my head faintly. "You're probably fucking other girls, while you're at it anyway," I whispered, my plan had been to just shake my hand free now and storm into my room...

But that didn't happen. Instead he collected his fist and threw it against my left eye. I had sensed it would happen, when it came flying at my face, but for some reason I wanted it to happen just so he could be filled with regret. I looked back up at him, now angrier than ever.
"I- I didn't wa-" I didn't hear more, as I smacked my bedroom door behind me shut. I carefully put a hand to the side of my eye, and removed it right when it grazed it, because it hurt. I sighed and sat down in my bed, starring out at nothing for a while. I got up from the bed and looked in my mirror.
"Oh no," I whispered under my breath, as I saw my eye being completely purple. I looked at it for a while, only thinking about how I should cover it up for school tomorrow. I tried putting on concealer and foundation, but nothing worked. I decided that people could just stare if they wanted to, and I would just tell anyone who asked, that I smacked a door into it or something.
When the time came for school, I opened my bedroom door, and luckily no one was there. At school people looked weirdly at me when they passed me in the hall, but honestly I couldn't give a crap. I got eye contact with Peter for a brief moment, but I quickly looked away, as I kept walking.
"What happened to... your eye?" Mj asked and pointed up at it.
"My mom smacked a door into it," I answered and leaned up against the locker, next to her open one.
"On purpose!" she exclaimed chocked.
"No no! It was an accident," I assured and she put a hand to her chest, calming down a little. "It hurts like hell," I then built on. She closed her locker.
"Well it looks like hell too," she said, and folded her ams around her books tighter.
"Yeah I know," we walked into class and sat down. It went by with a lot of stares and whispering behind my back. I told Mj I would meet her in the cafeteria, because I had to go to the bathroom and see if it looked worse than before. The halls were empty, as everyone was at lunch, so I walked carelessly not worrying about who saw me. Out of nowhere I was pulled into a small corner, where there was almost no room for two people. "What the-"
"It's me," Peter stood up against me, with a hand on my mouth. He glanced out to make sure that we were alone. "Who did that?" he asked and pointed at my eye. I couldn't help but notice, that our bodies were completely smushed up against each other.
"A door," I answered stiffly.
"See that's bullshit, cause I know a door, can't do that much damage to you," I didn't know what to answer. He was right, and now there was no way out. I looked down at his chest.
"My dad did it," I whispered. I could feel his body tense up against mine, so I let my head fall to his chest and I sighed. He lifted my chin up, with his thump and index finger, and kissed my forehead. He followed it up by putting a hand on the back of my head, so I was forced to let it fall into his shoulder. It felt nice, to be held like that. "Thank you," I whispered in his shoulder. "But do me a favor, and don't kill my dad," Peter snickered, and shook his head.
"I wont... anymore," I pulled back giggling a little. Our eyes met for just a brief second that felt like a whole decade. It made me glance down at his lips.
"We should go eat," I said, and we moved out from the small space.
"You could come live with me and May if you want," Peter suggested, as we walked down the halls of the school.
"Thanks, but my mom texted me this morning and said they wouldn't be home for a whole month... but if he does it again, I might want to pick up on that offer," I said, and we turned the corner.
"He won't be alive if he does," I heard Peter say under his breath. I don't think I was meant to hear it, but damn!
"What?" I asked, to see if I was meant to hear it.
"Uh let me know if he does," Peter quickly said. "I'll see you later," he turned towards the table ned was sitting at, and sat down next to him
"Yeah see you," I uttered. I stood there and watched him from a far, until Mj broke my trance and called me over.
