Peter's POV

She had fallen asleep in the middle of the third movie we put on. Her mouth was open just a smidge, to let her breathe peacefully out of it. I was really thirsty, so I got up from the bed without waking her and went into the kitchen. I practically knew where everything was, so I immediately found a glass and filled it with fresh water. I leaned by back up against the kitchen counter and took a sip, while starring out at the darkness. I couldn't believe she really loved me like I loved her. When my thirst was fulfilled I emptied the remaining water from the glass in the sink and put the glass in the dishwasher.

- One week later -

Rue's POV

"Take a look at those idiots," I chuckled and pointed down at a group of drunk friends, strolling down the street laughing and drinking.

"They sure seem to be having fun," Peter returned a chuckle, and took a bite of the churro we had split. He then handed it to me and I took a bite. We sat at the edge of a building close to peters place, just to observe a little. Peters arm was around my neck holding me close. A black van drove by, but a smaller car driving in a very high speed raced in its direction in an intersection right underneath us.

"What the hell," I whispered suspiciously, right before it crashed into its side, making both me and Peter quickly get up. I grabbed the backpack with our normal clothes in. Three guys emerged from the small car and two headed for the back of the van, while the other walked up to the window of the van. "Peter don't let him get to the driver," I said as we swung down, now headed two different directions. I landed on top of the van, looking down at the two guys who now pulled out their guns and pointed them at me. "Whoa easy now," I snickered and took a step forward, so I was now standing on the edge of the van. Behind me I heard Peter smash the guys head into the van and start pulling out the driver of the van. One of the two guys who pointed their guns at me, started to look over at Peter and I saw my opportunity.

I jumped up from the edge and shot a web at each of their guns' tips. I twisted in the air, causing the guns to fly out of their hands, and land far behind them, where I had also landed. They had turned to me, but now also their backs to Peter. So behind them Peter shot one web at the guy to the right's head, and pulled the string back, so the guy landed on the ground. He secured him to the ground with another web, while I took down the other guy and plastered him to the ground too.

I turned around to go get the wounded driver, Peter had laid carefully on the ground, but suddenly I heard a gunshot and Peter let his body smash backwards into the van, while groaning and holding his hand on his right shoulder. I quickly noticed the gun in the third guys hand and shot a web at it, blocking it. "Peter!" I panted panicked, while quickly hunkering down to him. He gritted his teeth and looked under his slightly lifted hand.

"I'm fine," he groaned, and moved up to sit up against the van. I lifted his shoulder and looked behind it. There was an exit wound. I took the backpack off my shoulders and unmasked us both. While I quickly got changed and dialed 911, he pressed the chest of his suit making it hang sloppily from his body.

"911 what's your emergency?" a lady asked on the phone. I pulled the suit off Peter and he groaned.

"Me and my boyfriend were passing as Spiderwoman and Spiderman stopped a... a robbery I think. My boyfriend is shot and another man is severely injured and we need an ambulance immediately. We're at the intersection of Rockaway Boulevard and Guy R. Brewer Boulevard," I quickly informed, as I dressed Peter and stuffed the suits into the backpack.

"Okay, help is on the way. An-," I hung up, cause all I needed to know was that they were on their way. By the time the ambulances and cop cars arrived, Peter had almost passed out. I called May on the ambulance ride, and told her that Peter had been shot. She almost broke down on the phone, and I could barely hold it together. Hearing her cry and worry, while looking at Peter being treated desperately, was too much for me to bare. They told me Peter would be fine, as they rolled him into a room they wouldn't let me enter. I was waiting outside, when May paced up to me in the long hall. I stood up from the chair, when saw her worried face. She inspected my face and I could tell she noticed how stressed out I was, cause she then wrapped her arms around me.

"Is he okay? What happened?" she whispered out of breath, over my head. I had to think about the story, I had given the woman earlier.

"They said he would be fine... We were passing Spiderman and Spiderwoman fighting these guys in a car wreck... and somehow one of those guys shot Peter," I explained, as she let go of me.

"You'd think Spiderwoman and Spiderman would be better at their jobs by now huh?" she rolled her eyes and gave me a comforting smile, that filled my heart with a warm feeling. Oh you'd be surprised May.

"Yeah," I scoffed and played along. A doctor walked out of the room hugging peter's medical record in her arms.

"He's resting. But we're gonna have to keep him here for the next two days, before he can come home," Me and May nodded and went for the door, that the doctor suddenly blocked. "Only one visitor is allowed," I know she smiled sympathetically, but I could have knocked her over right in that moment.

"May you go ahead, I'll visit him tomorrow after school," I smiled and May gave me a quick hug and thanked me, before walking in.

I walked out of the building to call Happy and tell him about the incident and how Peter would need a new suit, since there was two holes in it now. Happy told me he would contact Tony immediately, so he could get is as soon as possible. I thanked him and we told goodbye. I put my phone in my pocket again, and looked in at the hospital. I didn't hesitate to walk back in. I had to see him tonight.

Just found out I have a math test tomorrow! So great!... 🥲
