I looked out the car window to my left, and up at Liz' house. It was really big and modern. Several people were walking up to the house and one kid was out vomiting on the front yard. Gross. I get the sudden urge to just go home, and forget about it. "This was a mistake," I turn my head to May. "Let's just go home,"
"Oh Peter. I know, I know it's really hard. Trying to fit in with all the changes, your body's going through," please May don't do this. "It's flowering now," she talked in a supportive and gently tone, but I could not get out of there faster. "He's so stressed out lately," May had turned around to Ned and said.
"What helps with stress, is going to a party, so we should go to the party,"
"Let's do it," I said, mostly just wanting to not open up the while birds and the bees conversation with May. She had tried opening it before, but I luckily got out of it by saying I had homework, and then going to my room. "I'm gonna, go I'm gonna go," I uttered and unbuckled the seatbelt, opening the door.
"Peter," I leaned down to her in the car.
"Yeah?"
"Have fun. Okay?" she smiled.
"I will," I closed the door and followed up next to Ned, who was already happily on his way. The usual booming music was playing. It was okay, but there was tons of other music I could bare to listen to instead.
"Can't believe you guys are at this lame party," we both turned our heads to see Michelle, buttering something up on some bread.
"But... you're here too," Ned responded. If Michelle was here, that would probably mean that Rue was too.
"...Am i?" she asked and took a bite of the bread, as she walked away. I looked after her for a second to see if she maybe was headed towards Rue somewhere.
"Oh my gosh, hey guys!" I instantly recognize liz' voice in the other direction. She looked and sounded quite surprised that we were actually here, as she took a few steps closer. "Cool hat Ned," she briefly added.
"Hi Liz!" Ned glanced smiling at me.
"Hey Liz," I said trying to stay as calm as I possibly could.
"I'm so happy you guys came. There's pizza and drinks, help yourselves," she nicely said with a big smile on her face. What was Rue talking about? She was so sweet and friendly, and in no way a bitch.
"It's a really great party," I looked around for a second, and turned back to her.
"Thanks," she shyly answered. She looked mainly at me, while smiling a whole lot. It actually seemed like she liked me. A loud noice of glass getting smashed sounded a few rooms away from us. She excused herself and told us her parents would kill her if anything got broken, and then left us.
"Okay she's officially here, go put on your charm!" Ned exclaimed.
"I don't have a... charm," I said and rubbed the back of my neck. "I figured I'd just be myself,"
"Peter, no one wants that,"
"Dude," I hurtfully said while furrowing my eyebrows at him. I scanned the room and spotted Liz, but I hadn't even taken a step, before someone interrupted me.
"PENIS PARKER, WHAT'S UP!" Flash as the deejay at this party, said in a microphone so everyone turned and looked at me. "Don't think just because you're here with the cool kids you'll be seen any differently! You'll always be the boy who gets goodnight kisses from his hot aunt!" people started laughing, and I suddenly see Rue walking across the room with a beer in her hand. "And we have another loser at the party! Please give a nice welcome to RUE! HART!" Rue didn't turn but threw the middle finger up next to her head.
"Feed your own ego Flash. I'm busy," she carelessly said, and took a sip of her beer as she turned the corner. I wish I could just stand up for myself like that. I paid special attention to her outfit, that looked basic but stunning on her. A normal black low-cut top, some straight legged black jeans and then lastly white nike shoes.
"You- uhh... Let's turn this party up a notch!" he awkwardly changed the subject, clearly embarrassed by how Rue hadn't given a fuck about him. I was glad she decided to come to the party, since she was so down earlier. I would say I was maybe also a little scared, that she just came here to drink though. God I hope not. I glanced back at where liz had stood before, but she wasn't there anymore.
"Let's just go this way," I said and walked towards where Rue had turned a corner. Ned followed behind me, and it turns out it was the kitchen she had walked into. It was the classic, big squared counter in the middle, surrounded by counters and then a double fridge. She stood near the fridge, on the other side of the big counter, talking some guy with Michelle next to her. I observed for a few seconds, before the guy grabbed her hand, and lead her out of the kitchen. I could see her throw back a smile at Michelle, who smiled back. Michelle turned her head and saw us.
"Oh hey guys," she said it like giving us permission to come up to her, so we did.
"Where'd Rue go?" I asked trying my best to sound casual.
"Ran off with some dude like... two seconds ago," she pointed swiftly in the direction, I had just seen Rue go with that guy. "She gets super flirty when she's drunk," she then whispered with a funny looking smile. I didn't smile at all, just at the thought of Rue off with... 'some dude'. "You okay Parker?" she then broke into my thoughts and interrupted. I gathered myself.
"No. I just have to go to the bathroom," I answered and gave a slightly fake smile to her and Ned before turning around. My face fell into the form of a little angry and also a little worried, as soon as I had turned from them and walked out of the kitchen. As I had suspected, she was dancing on the dance floor, with that tool who was all up on her. I starred. For a good half hour. It was like torture to watch her act so stupid, when I knew how she really was. Plus that guy could not keep his hand off her, but what could I do? Break them up and pull her out of the house? Definitely not. I stood up against the wall observing her for all that time, until he leaned in and whispered something in her ear. She looked hesitant, but walked with him up the stairs of the house anyway. I looked around and then followed silently behind. What did she even want with him? She's this beautiful intelligent girl, and he honestly just looked like a loser. I leaned my ear up against the bathroom door, the guy had just closed behind them. They were definitely making out, and I clenched me jaw. The thought 'what the hell am I doing?' brushed through my mind and I was just about to turn, when I heard her voice.
"I'm too drunk for this,"
"Just shut up and enjoy," the guy said.
"No. I want you to stop," she mumbled out. She was obviously blackout drunk. He told her to shut up again, and I took one step away from the door. I kicked it in, making the guy jump back, while she was sitting up against the mirror on the bathroom counter.
"Whoa- calm down! I-" He didn't get to finish the thought, when I punched him from the left, so he fell into the shower curtain and landed in the bathtub. I turned to her and put both my hands on her cheeks and lifted up slightly. Her pupils were dilated like crazy, so I was right. Blackout drunk. She hadn't said a word either. I let her head rest against the mirror again and pulled the guy up by his shirt and threw him out of the bathroom. I smacked the door shut and locked it, before turning back to Rue who's eyes were now closed and had her lips slightly parted. I can't believe he got to kiss those lips.
