"We're going to stop at the next Motel!" Stiles' crackled voice came out over the radio. Allison groaned as she started glancing around for the motel. Lydia, who had been reading a large map in her lap, glanced back at you. You'd been crammed in the back with as much of the supplies as Lydia's car could fit. Lydia and Allison had been taking turns to rotate who was driving at each stop.

"I hope this is the right one. I mean don't get me wrong, it has been great to gather all these books and bestiaries that we've collected have been so helpful. But honestly I would give anything to just get home." Lydia complained. Allison muttered in agreement but wasn't focused on anything you or Lydia had to say as she spotted a side road marked for a motel. She turned down the road and in the rearview mirror she could also see everyone else turning down the road.

When the motel came up into view you groaned, ready to stretch and stand up. The car journey had been longer than you expected. Stiles had written out an extensive itinerary but if you'd realised you'd be crammed in the back of the car for so long. You would have gotten out to walk around at the stop before.

Allison parked beside Stiles and they both got out, flagging down Kira and Scott on their bikes. Everyone slowly got out of their cars and gathered in the parking lot of the motel.

"So we're close right?" Malia asked.

"We should be. Deaton said that the witch with the information he needs is nearby. It's only a five minute drive from here. I can drive the book back to him and if you can get the second one... we should be able to keep it safe long enough for Deaton to find what he needs before the hunters catch onto us." Scott explained. You had started to pace back and forth, trying to stretch as much as you could.

"So we just need to pick up the book. Protect that one while finding the other?" Stiles asked slowly. He sighed and shrugged. "I still think that Lydia and I should have stayed behind to help find the last book."

"We don't know how dangerous it could be out here. It isn't like we have Derek or Peter to back us up." Scott pointed out. Liam and Mason agreed with him.

"Well, i'll go and book us a few rooms. See if we can't find somewhere to rest up for a while. Hopefully they'll have enough space here." Allison and Lydia went inside. They came out a few minutes later with a few keys and doled them out. You, Malia, Lydia and Allison were sharing a room together. Two other rooms were split between everyone else. You helped unpack the cars, taking out what was needed. Lydia and Stiles took charge of counting out how much food and supplies that they had left. The pack had been away for several days.

"We need to do a store run. Want to come?" Lydia asked Allison. Malia and Liam had headed off to patrol around. Mason was on the phone with Melissa while Stiles and Scott tried to get hold of the person that Deaton had sent you all out to meet.

"I can come and help. We'll get it done quicker." You offered. They agreed and after taking a quick list of anything extra that people wanted, and agreeing it would be cheaper to get something to eat from the store.

The store wasn't too far away from the motel. Lydia commented that the way to the store passed by the address Deaton had mentioned. The rest of the way to the store was quiet. You were all starting to feel the wear of traveling around trying to retrieve the book. You still hadn't figured out what it was for. Collecting the supplies was quicker than any of you thought. In fact the thing that took the longest was finding the specific roadtrip snacks Stiles had asked for. "Hey! Isn't that the shop you'd heard about?" Allison asked as you led the way back to the car park. Lydia frowned and glanced around, seeing the shop that Allison was pointing at.

"Yes! We have to go in here." Lydia insisted. She led the way into the store. You followed them through the stroe as they found clothes that they liked. Looking around you started to feel a little self conscious. Allison and Lydia had been grabbing clothes off the shelves like it was nothing but even when you dug to the back of the rails when you found something you liked, you couldn't find your size. You sat with their bags while they went into the changing room. You could hear them talking to each other about what they thought about the outfits. You contented yourself with counting how many garishly, impossible to wear, shoes were lined up on the shoe section wall, beside the changing rooms. A noise from Lydia's bag made you jump and when you said that she must have got a text she asked you to read it out to her.

"Stiles says that there is an emergency and everyone needs to get back to the motel." You called out. They hurried out of the changing room rather quickly. Apologising to the woman that was in charge of the return clothes as they dumped them with her. They helped grab some of the bags and the three of you practically bolted through the shopping centre to the car park.

Allison got a little turned around on the way back but when you managed to point out the right road she pulled out of a road that was four, maybe five houses down from the one Stiles and Scott had been planning to go to. There was caution tape everywhere. Police cars and an ambulance took up most of the pavement and when Allison passed the house at a slow pace you could see a rather frustrated Stiles and a defeated Scott standing with the observing crowd around the house. "That can't be good." you muttered.

"Maybe it was just an accident or something. I mean. If the hunters got here first, there would be more police... right?" Lydia asked and you both turned to Allison.

"Maybe. But if they knew something important was here. Like this book. There's a good chance some of them are the cops... maybe even the paramedic." Allison warned.

"Stiles will probably want to get to the second half of the book as soon as possible. I know Deaton needs the whole thing for Derek to use it but... if they got the first half before us." You trailed off as Allison pulled up to the motel. She could see Malia, Mason and Liam panicking outside the rooms. You followed them out of the car and up towards the motel rooms.

"We just need to get inside and calm down. Once Scott and Stiles get back, they'll tell us what is happening and we can sort something out." Allison insisted. She led the way into the larger of the motel rooms and everyone busied themselves. "We didn't pick up dinner for tonight, just food for the road!" She groaned.

"That was literally the one thing I put you in charge of." Lydia scolded playfully. Stiles and Scott arrived back at the motel room with some take out and explained what was going on. Seeing Scott and Allison snuggled up together, thinking back on the shopping spree, had dampened your mood. Which was already bad from having to drive all over. You tried to retreat so you could sit with your thoughts and be alone.

"He's in the hospital. But unconscious. We're hoping he'll wake up and we can get some more information." Scott said to the group as you snuck out.

You sat alone on a bench outside the motel for a few moments before Stiles came to visit you.

"Not hungry?" He asked. You sighed and wrapped your arms around yourself and shrugged. "Ok. Cool.... Good talk."

"I feel self conscious but I don't want to talk about it." You muttered to him.

"Oh, ok. Well the desk guy left the vending machine open, so would you like to help me steal some snacks and watch a film?" He asked. He was grinning mischievously when you looked up at him and let out a soft sigh. He nodded and hopped up, rushing to the machine. He pushed the door open a little then held his shirt out so that he could fill it with as many snacks as he could carry. "Ok, now we run!"

You laughed as you ran with him and hurried into one of the rooms. Stiles offered to sit with you and watch a film. The two of you settled in.

"Ok, you have to give me that pack with... is it little marshmallows?" He asked as he sat back on one of the beds and fumbled for his phone. He found a film to watch and the two of you sat together. You began to relax, feeling better. You hadn't realised that you'd fallen asleep against his shoulder until someone came into the room to talk to Stiles much later on.
