The ground cracked open and a long spindly leg that went up for what seemed like miles reached out of the ground. You stared at it in horror as it pushed it's body out of the massive crack in the ground.

"I can't believe this is one of the last things I'm ever gonna see." You felt Stiles pulling you away from it. "We have to get back to the car, maybe we can find another way out of town."

"But the only other way out was destroyed!" You insisted as he hurried you to the Jeep. He grumbled as he started to back up. You were right and he knew it. It didn't mean he wasn't going to try though.

"We can try to get through the woods." He suggested.

"And if it follows us?" You asked. He went silent. This creature had been popping up all over town. It hadn't occurred to any of you that it could be underground, seeing as it was so big. The town was being evacuated when it attacked again. You'd gotten separated from the group but Stiles insisted that he knew the way out.

"We'll get out through the woods." Stiles said again, firmer this time, like he was sure of himself. You glanced at him then looked back at the thing chasing you. It looked like a spider but there was a thick, foul smelling goop that dripped off it's body in thick splotches as it moved.

Stiles jerked the car as he sped off onto a side road he shut the engine off and you both watched as it hurtled down the road and went past you. He motioned for you to stay quiet as he slowly got out of the Jeep. You heard him open the back of the Jeep, painstakingly slow, and get some things out. You recognised an old backpack of his. As well as a few suitcases. One of yours among them. If there hadn't been a giant monster destroying the town you would have shouted at him for clearly breaking into your place to get your things.

He hurried round to your side, popped the door and helped you out, clearing the glovebox of anything important. Once he was done he gently opened a packet of rops and bungee cords. When the weight of the bags was evenly distributed he took out two maps and a few survival tools. He clipped one set to himself and a second to you, making sure they wouldn't make any noise. He pointed out the safe zone on the map and gatured towards it in the woods. You nodded and the pair of you slowly started to walk through the woods.
