I left work and walked home. I stopped at the market on the way and bought fresh carrots. I was going to bake a cake for Bram for his birthday.
Bram rang my intercom and moments later he entered my apartment completely wet. He removed his boots, parka and the rest of the clothes right there on the entrance rug. He was completely drenched, his body was shaking.
He pulled me with him to the bathroom.
"This rain started out of nowhere!" He exclaimed, putting his whole body under the hot water.
"The whole day had a smell of rain, but when it didn't rain in the late afternoon I thought it would only rain at dawn, but we'll, this is the uncertain climate of the middle of November." I recognized.
"I still haven't learned what this said rain smell is like." He said, squeezing the bottle of shampoo over my head. I closed my eyes in appreciation while he massaged my scalp.
"It smells like grass... wet soil." I explained.
"Um... I'll pay more attention to it."
"I'm sorry for this freezing surprise on your birthday."
"It's all right. The rain washes many things. It is welcome even freezing." He said, his voice amused. I opened my eyes to see his smile playing on his lips. He stole some of the foam from my hair to use on his.
"How do you feel at thirty-three?" I asked after some time of us in silence.
"Interestingly, younger than ever."
We eat a frozen pizza and the cake with our hair in turbans made with our towels. Our hair was still damp when I took him to the bedroom.

On Saturday afternoon my apartment was packed. I wasn't sure if my apartment would hold eleven people in its living area without us using the terrace, which was unusable because it was too cold and too rainy.
Dirk was sitting on the floor, in front of the coffee table, with Lotte at his side. Evi was not ashamed and was literally sitting on the coffee table. Bram was talking to Grietje and Julian at the dinner table, Yoongi was also there. I was with Maud and Tulip on the couch, while Timo was laying in the armchair.
We decided to vary the plans and suddenly everyone was inside my apartment. Seeing that situation made me consider moving to a bigger place. A place with a bathtub, maybe... and of course, a place with more space in the living room.
We drank and smoked and talked and ate until our energy ran out and everyone, little by little, left.
Bram was running his fingers along the spines of the books on my bookshelf in an appreciative state. I stopped beside him and looked at the titles of the works that I collected at home.
"Have you read them all?" He asked me, without taking his eyes off what he was doing, while stroking the relief of some letters on a spine.
"Hm... most of them. Those from that corner over there are in my queue."
"Do you have a queue?" He looked at me, laughing. I shrugged my shoulders.
"Yes... I used to read more, but then it became hard to concentrate for some time." I shared, remembering when my mind started running and controlling it had become difficult.
