Being the practical person he was, he booked a hotel so close to the station that it was not even necessary to cross the street. The room was simple, yet the view was incredible. Our room, by chance, faced the Ij River and the lights of the boats, the station and the city on the other side of the river were captivating.
We left our things in the room before going to eat.
Yoongi walked in front of me with his face buried in his phone while looking for the location of the shared car that would take us to the restaurant. The road had a little traffic, but we managed to get there in about twenty minutes.
Yoongi didn't say where we were going, but after the news of Paris, nothing seemed too big in comparison.
He lit a cigarette when he got out of the car and I thought it would be a good time to do the same. We smoked on the sidewalk for a while, the cold of the night was pleasant against my face. The humidity was high and it felt like it hadn't been long since the last rain, as everything was wet.
I threw the remains of my cigarette on the floor to put it out and in the absence of a visible trash can I rubbed it against the floor until it came apart almost completely. Yoongi put his out on the residence wall behind us, but when he saw that he had nowhere to throw it away, he proceeded to do the same as me. My conscience was heavy when we walked away from there.
It didn't take long and Yoongi stopped in front of a restaurant's window.
"Seoul Foods? Korean food?" I asked and he shrugged.
"The food here is like fast food, but it's delicious. I brought the BTS boys here and everyone liked it very much."
"Boys their age eat up to the wall and like it." I laughed and he gave me an offended look. "I trust your taste. Let's go in, it's cold." I said and pushed the door open to be greeted by the warmth of the inside and two probably girls probably as Korean as the type of cuisine served there.
Yoongi didn't lie, the food was amazing. He explained to me that it was an adaptation of South Korean street food, something very common there.
We ate unhurriedly, but the food was so good that it didn't take long. Yoongi paid for the meal and guided me out of the restaurant.
"Wow, I'm full. Everything was so good! Why did you never bring me here before?"
"The first time I came was when we were separated." He shrugged his shoulders. "And we don't come to Amsterdam that much."
"How did you find out about this place?"
"With Taehyung." He said casually.
"Ah yes..."
"I came with him and his girlfriend, I think as soon as I got back from Seoul." He explained it to me.
"Did you come from Hilversum and Den Haag just to eat here?"
"No, he's been living here for a while." He said and guided me by the arm until we were completely away from the restaurant. He turned to me and pulled me around the waist in a hug before kissing me softly, as if he wanted to clear up doubts that I didn't verbalize. "Do you want to walk back? So the food settles and we can stop somewhere to drink something."
I nodded silently and accepted the hand he offered me to walk together.
Being there with him, before his birthday, made me calm, even though I knew we were going on a trip like the one he had planned for us... knowing about it made me excited.
