I got into the bar and walked to our table. Dirk, who was talking to Lotte, who had her back to me, looked at me when I approached.

"So you're alive after all, huh?"

"Of course I am! Work kept me very busy this week. And I still had the secret Santa from work yesterday." I explained myself while settling in my safe corner.

Lotte looked at me with a serious expression, but there was warmth in her eyes.

"Today is Friday, Roos... and you barely texted us in the group chat!" She complained, now with her body completely turned to face me.

"Not to mention that she said she wanted to see us on Monday, but she never came." That was the voice of Yoongi, who sat across from me on the table. He held two drinks in his hands.

"I did come, but I met Nanook outside." I said, not owing anyone any satisfaction.

He seemed to bite his tongue, but his expression soon changed when the girl who accompanied him sat by his side.

"Ah! And you were hungry, weren't you?" Lotte teased me.

"I was, I had a growling belly!" I said laughing, eyes wide and one hand on my stomach.

"I'm going to get a jar, do any of you want to share it with me?" Dirk cut the subject abruptly and stood up, taking some of my change with him.

The night dragged on and I sat there drinking. It was only when I got up to go to the restroom, a few hours later, that I realized that I had drunk more than I should have.

I hate that feeling and on the way back from the restroom I stopped at the counter to order some water.

At the other end of the counter I could see Nanook talking to another woman. The scene bothered me, even though I did not have any kind of feelings for him.

As I crossed the room I saw Lotte with her arms wrapped around Dirk's neck and I understood what kind of night we were having.

The opportunity to make the choice between going home fine or staying here drunk was gone and I missed it. I sank into my seat at our table and drank my water, first calmly and then downing it. I wanted the effects of the beer to wear off as soon as possible.

Maud came to our table and sat next to me.

"Are you OK?" she shouted in my ear, a little too loudly.

"Yes! I just drank more than I should have!" I answered and she looked at me in the face.

"I'll get you another water, don't move."

As soon as she left, I felt once. more. his eyes on me. Jeez! How can it be so annoying? So uncomfortable?

I looked in his direction and met his gaze. His eyes were wide behind his bangs, which were already too long, and his expression was serious.

He held my gaze for a while, until Debbie approached him and said something in his ear. He turned his back to me and walked with her towards the door.

Maud came over and handed me the water she had bought for me.

"You want to go? I can accompany you home." She spoke in my ear, this time in a lower volume.

"I don't think I'm okay to ride my bike."

"No problem, we can walk and push our bikes. I'm not in a hurry to get home." She smiled at me.

We went outside together, with our arms wrapped around each other, she's helping me get to the door.

The walk to my house was not far, but in my condition it took us about half an hour to arrive.

When we stopped in front of my building, I secured my bicycle and she accompanied me by doing the same.

"I will stay with you here, OK? Getting drunk and alone is too bad. " She smiled and I just felt happy to have such good friends.
