I was looking for my lighter in my bag, with the cigarette hanging from my lips when Jaap stopped beside me to unlock his own bicycle.
"Good evening, Roosje."
"Ah! Hi Jaap, good evening."
"Do you have any plans for tonight?"
"The usual," I replied, "I'm going to PH. How about you?"
"I'm looking for a bar to watch the game."
"Do you want to go to PH? I know it will be on there."
I gave up my cigarette and we pedaled together towards the centre.
When we arrived in front of the bar Yoongi was standing next to the bike rack, leaning against the wall and smoking quietly. He walked towards me as I got off the bike.
"Hi! You're early." I said as I gave him a kiss.
"Yes, I was wondering if you want to go with me to the station, Tae and Minnie are going to come watch the game here." He murmured.
"Have the others arrived yet?" I said looking from him to Jaap who was still quiet on our side.
"We were the first."
"Ah!" I lowered my voice to explain myself. "It's kind of awkward that I leave Jaap here alone, I invited him..." Yoongi listened to me in silence.
"Hm..." He murmured, but then spoke in a louder tone for both of us to hear. "That's alright. Stay with Jaap. I'll walk to the station and be back soon."
About 40 minutes later Yoongi appeared with Jimin, but no Taehyung was in sight. He sat next to me and his friend immediately followed him, sitting by his other side.
"Didn't Tae come?"
"No, he was stuck at work and would only be able to get here very late." Jimin replied promptly.
Jimin demanded all of Yoongi's attention and I, in turn, was involved in a conversation with Jaap about some issues of the network.
At nine the game was about to begin and the bar lounge was full. I didn't understand how a friendly match between the Netherlands and Germany could mobilize so many people, but it still did. Jaap got up to find a space in front of the screen and I called Yoongi to go and smoke with me. He told me to go ahead, but I ended up smoking the whole cigarette on my own.
When I entered, I went back to the table and found only Tulip and Evi sitting there.
"Hey, where's everyone?" I asked and Tulip pointed towards the saloon. I followed her finger and saw our friends gathered in the center of the room, Jaap was there with them and Yoongi too, with Jimin hanging from his arm.
It bothered me a little that Jimin was so expressive physically and that she touched others so much, especially Yoongi. It also bothered me that he didn't seem to care, when normally, with other people, he did.
I felt a twinge of jealousy at being left to smoke alone just to find him in that situation, but I chose to close that door.
I sat next to Evi and heard her speak to Tulip for a while before joining the conversation, too.
I was outside again when the game was over and people started to leave. Jaap was one of them and when he saw me there alone he came to keep me company.
I was a little cringed because, as always, I was inadvertently under dressed for the weather that was starting to get cold in late September. My thin sweatshirt was unable to protect me from the 9°C cold that it was at 11 pm and Jaap noticed.
He was trying to hug me when Yoongi left the bar holding my bag, followed by Jimin. I, who was refusing physical contact from my co-worker, stepped away completely when he arrived, aware that such a scene would not please him. I felt guilty, even though I hadn't done anything wrong. Yoongi's expression was a little harsh, but when he approached, he said something totally different from what I expected to hear.
"Shall we go? Jimin will sleep over at my house."
"Oh really?" I didn't hide the surprise in my voice.
"Yes, she came alone and it is late. I am not comfortable that she is going back to Den Haag by train at this hour."
"I told him it's okay, but he insisted..." Jimin explained.
"Ah yes..."
"I will need to leave early, to be able to catch a train and get there before 7, I have rehearsal at 8." She continued.
"I'll take you to the station by car tomorrow morning." Yoongi pointed.
"What do you do, Jimin?" Jaap seemed to have come out of a hole in the ground to ask that question.
"I'm a dancer." Jimin said with a proud smile "I am part of the dance body of the Nederlands Dans Theater", she concluded. That explained her perfect body.
"Shall we go?" Yoongi said again, looking at me.
"Yes. Are you driving?"
"No, I came by bicycle. Minnie can ride with me."
"OK." I said. Turning to Jaap, I continued. "See you tomorrow."
Jaap waved in silence and walked away as I unlocked my bike and took it to the edge of the street.
I rode in silence, slightly in front of Yoongi and Jimin. I was also slightly irritated that she was there.
She offered to prepare Ramen for dinner, as a way of thanking for Yoongi's hospitality, as if it was difficult to prepare ramen noodles.
After we ate, I helped Yoongi prepare the sofa for her to sleep in while she used the bathroom.
"Do you have any sleepwear here to borrow for her?" He asked me.
"Um... the only one here is the one I was planning to wear."
"You don't need to wear anything to sleep with me." He raised his eyebrows suggestively.
"Shush, Yoongi!" I replied with alarm. "What if she hear ys?"
"Hey, we're all adults here." He laughed and winked at me, coming towards me.
"No... I'm tired today." I told him before he hugged me and his playful expression collapsed. "But I will lend her my pajamas. You can lend me yours."
I was lying on the bed, lying on my stomach and facing away from him, fiddling with my phone, when he hugged me, smelling my hair.
"I like your dark blue hair."
"Um..." I mumbled.
"It goes well with your skin tone, I like that pale aspect of you." I heard him say and just sighed.
He released me, moving away from me.
"Is it because of Jaap that you are like this?" His voice was cold.
"No. It's because of Jimin."
I returned the same tone to him, turned off my cell phone's screen and closed my eyes. He dared not say anything.
