I took a shower as soon as Yoongi left me at home and put the clothes in the washing machine. While the machine was working I cleaned the house and had lunch. I got dressed and waited for the machine to finish. I quickly folded everything and escaped through the door.

I saw him as soon as I walked into the bar, he was to the right, talking to Timo at the counter. I shot him a quick look as I took off my winter coat and accessories.

"What's up babe?" Maud, who was at the head of the table, greeted me as soon as I sat at my usual place.

"What's up, pussycat?" I smiled in her direction.

"Uh! Someone is in a good mood." Evi said from across the table.

"Um..." I blinked with just one eye in her direction.

"What are you going to do for Christmas?" Maud turned to me.

"My plans are your plans. I spent the Sinterklaas with my parents at the same time and it was a near-death experience, but now I'm free at the end of the year."

"Your parents, as in your mom and dad? Together?" Maud wanted to confirm.

"Yes, my mom is going to travel and she made a point of seeing me on that date. I think she wanted to travel to escape me" I laughed, "we are still traumatized from the Christmas we spent together two years ago."

"Has it been two years?" She looked surprised.

"Yes. Two years..."

"But why was your father there too?"

"He also has other plans for the holidays and we had made plans to be together at Sinterklaas before my mom insisted on seeing me that day." I shrugged my shoulders.

"Oh... okay. Anyway... Yoongi has now suggested that we have lunch at his house for Christmas..." Evi cut the subject short.

"Oh? He did? It seems to be a huge commitment." I pointed out.

"It's not that big if your oven is good and you have experience in baking frozen kroketten." Maud laughed.

"This is how we are going to die because of bad cholesterol if you keep organizing all our gatherings." Evi tapped his girlfriend on the arm playfully.

"But what I want to know is: would you go to a Christmas lunch if it's at his house?" Maud finally asked me.

"Um... yes. Yes, I would." I responded casually, piling my coins before getting up to go to the counter. I didn't have the chance to do it, however.

"Where were you?" Lotte's voice was directed at me.

"Hi to you too." I replied, moving closer to the headboard for her to sit next to me.

"Were you with Yoongi?" She said as soon as she came to my side.

"Huh?"

"Roos!" She answered me, laughing. "Were you with Yoongi?" She insisted.

"When?"

"Yesterday! He didn't come here, either." She said, her vivid eyes pleading for an answer from me.

"Oh! Really! It's true!" I saw a light bulb light up over Evi's head as she connected the dots.

"Um..." I mumbled in a smile, denouncing my answer.

"Use words." Maud spoke to my right.

"Yes, I was. I was with him." I gave in, defeated. I hoped that our friends would take longer to notice.

"And how was it?" It was Maud who asked.

"I am not going to tell the whole story now, have dinner with me tomorrow." I demanded before proceeding. "He DJed at my work's confraternization, by coincidence... and then, when it was over, he invited me to eat with him. He presented me with very compelling arguments for me to give him a chance. We went out yesterday and today he asked me to be his girlfriend."

"What?! Already? Out of nowhere?" Lotte practically screamed.

"I knew that mixtape would work!" Maud exclaimed. I smiled at her. "It even had an effect on me and it wasn't even for me."

"Yeah... and yes, Lotte. Already. We talked a lot, about doing things differently this time, about being clearer in what we want. We will take it easy, but that's what I want from him and what he wants from me... we want to date with labels and everything."

"How are you feeling?" Evi asked me.

"In a word: fine. But there is a greater complexity that I cannot put into words."

"But is this complexity generally positive?" Lotte wanted to know.

"Yes. Otherwise, I wouldn't have gotten into it. Enough, I don't think I have any more tears left to cry."

"That's why you're going to spend Christmas at his place, then." Evi concluded.
