I was sitting at the table next to the barbecue that Yoongi had set up on his patio. I was smoking a cigarette while carrying out my mission to ensure that all the charcoal burned red hot.
Yoongi was inside the kitchen, assuring that the chicken was seasoned properly. Maud and Evi were helping him, following the orders they were given strictly so as not to offend the Korean cuisine.
Maud came to sit next to me after a while.
"I thought this summer was going to end without us eating this chicken from heaven." She said, using her hands to blow the smoke away from her.
"By the way you say it, I'm very curious."
"Have you never eaten it?"
"I already ate Korean barbecue, Yoongi took me to a restaurant... but the one he does himself, no."
"Wow, now I remember, you never came to his barbeques." She said and I could only shrug my shoulders.
Everyone arrived little by little and soon the house was full of people and the sound of their conversations.
Yoongi sat next to me, hugging my waist to keep me close to him. I offered him my beer, but he refused.
"I'm going to need to drive in a little while." He told me. Seeing my expression, he continued "Jimin and Taehyung are going to come too and I will pick them up at the station."
"Ah, ah yes... I didn't know you guys had been in touch." I answered him.
"Hm... yes. We have and in a little while you will meet them." He smiled excitedly. His eyes became two downward curved lines.
It didn't take long for him to tell me that he would need to leave to go and meet the two siblings from Den Haag.
When he finally returned he was accompanied by a boy, Taehyung, who was somewhat taller than him, with olive skin and big, drawn-out, dark eyes. His long wavy dark brown hair fell over his forehead and ears. At the back, his hair was still long, forming a kind of mullet. His face was very masculine, with a long straight nose and his lips were full and symmetrical. His beauty was mesmerizing and I realized that I was not the only one staring at him in the room. When he spoke, his voice was calm and thick, a deep tone that hindered our efforts not to stare at him.
Jimin was an equally beautiful woman, very beautiful, but quite different from her brother. She was slightly smaller than me and had narrow shoulders and despite the height, she looked tiny. Her shoulder-length hair was straight like Yoongi's and was bleached, dyed a very light and golden blond. It framed her exotic face so well. Her nose was small and delicate, her eyes were large, but not rounded... not really. Her eyes were long and big. They were in perfect harmony with her full lips that stood out on her face. I had to work hard not to stare at her too. Her voice was soft too and when she spoke, she sounded like an angel. She had that angelic aura that I had until then thought didn't exist.
Yoongi took them around the house, introducing them to all of our friends and stopped at the kitchen to offer them drinks.
I took this opportunity to meet them. Yoongi saw me coming and started talking as soon as I approached.
"Roos, these are Taehyung and Jimin." They waved at me. "And this is Roos."
"Hi Roos, how are you? You can call me Tae" the brother held out a hand to me.
"You are very beautiful!" I heard the voice coming from Yoongi's side.
"Ah! Thank you so much. So are you!" I exclaimed in a shy smile, but my eyes asked Yoongi for help.
"Shall we go outside? I think we can grill the meat already."
I sat at the table and Jimin came to sit next to me. She spoke incessantly and from time to time touched my arm. Her conversation attracted everyone's attention and after a while I was stunned by it all.
I got up, walked to the end of the little yard and lay down on a patch of grass. I knew that Yoongi was watching me and so I closed my eyes, as if trying to keep myself invisible.
I fumbled in my pockets behind my pack of cigarettes and lighter. In the sound of the conversation coming from the patio, Jimin's voice stood out. I wanted to escape from there and the problem is not that she was talking about boring things, but for exactly the opposite reason. She was talking about Korea and everyone was interested. She was talking about how it was to meet an adult Yoongi on the other side of the world, as they live in a place as small as the Netherlands.
I heard movement and opened my eyes to find Timo sitting next to me. He smiled when he realized I was looking at him and then swung a joint between his fingers.
"Can I offer you another form of entertainment?" He asked with a smirk on his lips, sure of my answer.
Dirk shouted for us to go to the table when the food was ready. Yoongi sat in the place that I was sitting before and I sat next to him.
"Oh you're riding a nice vibe, aren't you?" He asked me, amused while I signaled yes with my head, with a smile that I couldn't shake off my face.
He kissed me lightly on the lips and I wished everyone would leave.
The chicken really was delicious. The flavor of the spices used was accentuated, but it matched perfectly with the tender meat of the chicken. Accompanying it were rice and various sauteed vegetables, as well as other seasonings.
"Yoongi! This is really delicious! Did you do it all yourself?" I heard Jimin speak from his other side.
"Only some of it, Maud and Evi helped with the cooking."
"Ah! Next time I will arrive early for the food to be authentically Korean." She said smiling with her hand on his right fist that rested on the table.
"It tastes really good, hyung." Tae said. "Whenever you need help, you can call us, even if it is help just to eat." He gave a square smile that somehow was extremely charming.
We talked at the table for a long time even after eating. It was the beginning of the night when Taehyung announced that he and his sister needed to leave.
"Did you come by train? Isn't it an annoyance?" Dirk asked.
"We came, but it's quite easy to get here. We took an Intercity to Utrecht and from there it was only about a 20 minutes trip." Taehyung said.
"Well, what if we take this party to the bar?" Maud cut off the interaction.
"I'm in!" Grietje spoke first, followed by many of the others.
"Okay, can you close the house? Just lock that patio door from the inside. The front door locks on its own and only opens on the outside with the key." Yoongi explained. "Roos, are you coming with me?"
I shrugged, but walked towards him.
Yoongi stopped the car in the public parking area near the station and Taehyung and Jimin said goodbye to me right there, but he went down to accompany them even closer to the access to the platforms. I noticed when Taehyung said goodbye with a warm handshake and Jimin hugged him for a while, while she seemed to be saying some things in his ear. Yoongi looked down when they finally broke the hug, and then smiled.
