I spent days advertising my stuff on the Marktplaats and already in the first few days I had nowhere to sit to eat or watch television. I was impressed by how people are willing to buy everything on that site.
I sent the formal notice of change on Friday, as agreed with Yoongi and we spent the weekend packing things that had already been sold.
Tulip, Timo, Lotte and Dirk also helped, repaying the favors I gave them when they moved.
I felt a little empty when I saw my things leaving that apartment to continue their existence without me. I was projecting what I felt on them. Who would continue their existence without them would be me.
I was drinking a glass of wine with Evi when Grietje sat next to me.
"What time at your place on Saturday, kitten?"
"At nine." I showed her a weak smile.
"What's up?"
"I'm going to miss that apartment. I've lived there since I came back to Hilversum after university. It's been five years."
"So we should say goodbye with a celebration." She suggested.
"Like a party?" Evi said, clearly excited.
"Um..." I thought about that idea. "But there is almost no furniture there anymore."
"That shouldn't be a reason not to have a party." She was emphatic and I accepted what she was proposing.

Everyone arrived as a large group on time.
Yoongi had been with me since I arrived from work and had helped me clean up the big empty space that my living room had become.
One by one they entered as if they were going to a camp.
"Hm... What's going on? Why do you have so many things?" I asked, slightly alarmed.
"We're going to have a sleepover!" Grietje's voice came from inside my apartment.
It didn't take long and inflatable mattresses and sleeping bags were scattered throughout the room.
A space was opened between three mattresses to accommodate the pizzas that were ordered and the bottles of beer and glasses of wine.
"I will miss this apartment too." Tulip spoke. "I remember one party warm up we had here and Maud took the biggest slip on the stairs." She remembered, laughing intensely.
"Wow, it was awful! I slipped on the stairs and went down almost all down on my ass." She said also having fun.
"It was bruised for over weeks!" Evi spoke between laughs.
"This apartment has a history." Timo watched. "At the open house there was a huge commotion. Didn't someone spill red wine on your rug?"
"Wow, you don't even remember!" I exclaimed. "My brand new carpet, white! It was a lesson I learned, it was stained for months until I bought a new one, navy blue."
"Who did this?" Maud wanted to know.
"It was one of Yoongi's girls." Dirk said.
"What was her name again?" It was Grietje's turn to participate.
"Sarah." Yoongi's voice sounded beside me.
"Sarah! My god Yoons, she was unbearable. Did you guys go out for long?"
"Not much, no." He replied calmly.
"You're brave!" Evi exclaimed. "How did you get to stand her?"
"She gives very good head." He spoke with a smile on his face and a naughty look before taking another sip of his beer.
"Yoongi!" Lotte exclaimed from across the room.
"Hey, I just answered a question I was asked." He blew a little kiss at her.
"And do you remember the time that Dirk tripped on the terrace steps and broke a tooth?" Evi laughed and soon everyone followed.
"You should have told me about the rug, I would have replaced it for you." Yoongi said against my shoulder so that only I could hear him.
"I wasn't going to charge a guy for a new rug when I thought he hated me." I justified myself just for him.
"Even so..."
"That rug was doomed to misfortunes. When I got rid of it about five months later, it had many more stains than what the red wine had caused."
"She was very happy right here." Maud's voice caught my ears. "I got tired of telling her to move in with me when my parents moved away and she always refused!"
"I need my alone time, Maudje." I explained myself.
"You and Yoongi deserve each other." Dirk commented. "He always says the same thing to me."
Yoongi laughed beside me and I couldn't help doing the same.
The conversation went on for a few more hours, until Evi got up, pushing the mattresses aside and turning on a dancing playlist on her phone. The mood of the gathering changed completely, from a state of fraternity to a little party.
I danced some songs in the company of the other women until I found an opportunity to escape to my room.
I was fiddling with my phone, lying on the bed when he found me there.
"Hey, is everything okay?" He said, lying down beside me.
"Yes, I just needed to pack my shoes in the box." I pointed to the shoes lying beside the box on the floor.
"Hm... it looks like you still need to do it, right?" I shrugged my shoulders.
"I'm just a little tired."
"Do you think it's bad timing?"
"For me to move in with you?"
"Yes." He reached over my face with one hand and stroked my cheek.
"No, the timing is perfect. I just think this melancholy is part of the process."
"You still have a week with the apartment, you can stay longer if you want."
"No... they will pick up the bed tomorrow morning. And then, the real estate handyman will come to do the repairs to ready the apartment for the keys handover."
"Hm... so I'm just going to hug you, okay?" He said, wrapping his arms around my body and I accepted him willingly, humming in appreciation of his warmth.
