trying hard not to hear, but they talk so loud their piercing sounds fill my ears, try to fill me with doubt yet i know that their goal is to keep me from falling, but nothing's greater than the rush that comes with your embrace and in this world of loneliness, i see your face

The next day was painfully slow for Lydia. All she wanted to do was go back to bed and sleep for the next twelve hours. Unfortunately, she had other priorities. She woke up early due to the alarm on her phone, having to drag herself out of bed since she had work at eleven. Luckily, the bakery was only open till five on weekends so she had a short shift. Still, she had half an hour to go. It was hard having to be cheery and serve customers while hungover.

She didn't regret it though. She enjoyed her time out with Kol, even if she didn't remember most of it, it still meant something to her. Lydia didn't trust easily and she didn't want to get drunk with anyone she didn't trust. The only person she felt comfortable drinking around was Rae. Last night, she felt like she could trust Kol. She felt safe and that was important to her. She wanted to tell him that, but he was still sleeping when she awoke so she didn't get a chance. The only one awake when she awoke was Elijah. Her plan was to sneak out, but he caught her and convinced her to stay for breakfast, which he made. After, he dropped her off at work which was where she currently was.

Since no one appeared to be coming in any more and it was nearing closing, she began the process of closing down. Just as she started though, someone decided it was a good time to enter. Lydia looked up at the woman who walked in, she looked to be in her forties with long blonde hair.

"Hello Lydia," She greeted. Her voice was rather calm, but it was a bit eerie, her whole presence was but Lydia didn't know why.

"Hi," Lydia responded with a smile."How do you know, oh. Name tag. Right. Can I help you with anything?"

"You already have," She responded with a tight smile, taking a few steps in front of the display case so she could face Lydia."With my son. You have been vital in his journey of self improvement."

"Yo-your son?" Lydia raised her eyebrows, trying to think of who this woman could possibly be referring to. Lydia didn't know many guys and she was close with very few. She knew Jace's mother as well as Matt's and Tyler's so she ruled them out and the Salvatores' mother was dead. The only option was Kol."Are you Kol's mother?"

"It is an honour to meet you," She responded, not answering Lydia's question which she felt was odd."While I am glad you have managed to calm my son's wild behaviour, I believe you are wasting your talents."

"My talents?" Lydia furrowed her brows, tilting her head to the side.

"You are a good person, Lydia Gilbert," She continued."I would like to believe that you have a good head on your shoulders as well, so you mustn't involve yourself with my children. Who they are is already set in stone, they may deceive you but they will not change. You will only waste your potential by staying with them."
