question of the chapter: how would you like to see kol and lydia get back together?

Lydia placed her folded arms against the rough cement balcony, placing her chin on top of her hands and staring over at the water. Today had been a good day so far. Days usually were. Since she got her injections at night, the day was when it was wearing off. It was when she could think much more clearly. She had just gotten back from one of her therapy sessions, and she felt much better about her choice to stay. What Elijah said had worried her a little bit. Her goal wasn't to die or cause herself irreversible damage, but the longer she stayed, the better she felt. The more ready she felt to leave eventually. And once she would leave, she would stop the injections. She hoped that by then, she wouldn't need them.

But Lydia would have to make it until then, and that was proving to become more and more difficult each day. For the last few days, her friends had tried to get in contact with her. Lydia ignored them all. She knew how demanding they could be. If she were to step foot outside, one of them would try to take her. Which meant that she just had to stay away from them. Unfortunately, staying inside her apartment wasn't much better. Alyssa still hadn't said a word to her, which Lydia understood. She must've scared her. Lydia felt guilty, but she didn't know what to do about it.

"Lydia?" A soft voice called out to her from the side, causing Lydia to let out a small shriek and jump away from the balcony. She turned to her right to see her sister standing there.

"Elena!" Lydia breathed out, relaxing a little bit, but she was still startled."W-what are you doing here? You scared the hell out of me!"

"Sorry," Elena apologized."I just wanted to speak to you. And since you weren't answering any calls. . ."

"You decided to jump up on my balcony and scare me?" Lydia finished for her, raising her eyebrow and crossing her arms in front of her chest. She knew that it was only a matter of time before one of them tried something like that, but she was hoping they wouldn't figure out which balcony was hers since she rarely went out on it. But since Alyssa still didn't have a daylight ring, it was the only way she could get some sun in her apartment, though she did have to close the curtains behind her.

"Yes," Elena agreed, before pausing to correct herself."Well, I didn't mean to scare you."

"Obviously," Lydia said, not sure of what else to say. She thought about heading inside, leaving Elena out on the balcony, but the truth was that Lydia was beginning to miss her friends. She didn't see any harm in talking to her sister for a few minutes.

"You know, everyone wanted to find a way to drag you out of this place," Elena continued, fiddling with her fingers nervously.

"Pretty obvious too," Lydia responded."But you don't?"
