i just wonder, baby, if you're gonna stay
even if one day i lose it and go crazy
~ ariana grande, six thirtyThe next morning was rather different for Lydia or rather the night was. It was the first night she fell asleep without Kol by her side in over three months. When they returned back to the Manor, Lydia was so tired that she just crashed but she made sure to do so in the guest room that she had stayed in a few times, not wanting to sleep with Kol. She felt somewhat bad about it because she had just told him she wanted to stay in his room and after ten days of thinking she was dead, he probably wanted to hold her close and wake up with her by his side so he knew that she was truly back and it wasn't just some dream he woke up from.
Still, Lydia felt a little nervous as she walked down the staircase, tugging at the end of the sleeves of the green cardigan she was wearing. When she walked by Kol's room, she noticed he wasn't in it which meant that he was mostly likely downstairs but the first person she saw was Rebekah who emerged from the hallway that led to the kitchen.
"Ah, you're awake," Rebekah greeted her as Lydia approached the bottom of the staircase."I was about to bring this to you. Well, my brother was but I had something to tell you anyways."
"Oh?" Lydia sounded a bit surprised as she took the mug that Rebekah handed to her and looked down at what was inside. She was surprised she couldn't smell it the second Rebekah brought it in since she was told by Kol that it would be difficult to be around it without wanting to drink it for a little while. The idea of drinking blood was still odd to her but she knew that she needed it.
"I spoke with Rae," Rebekah informed her."I told her everything and she was oddly calm about it and I told her that you would reach out to her as soon as you adjusted to life as a vampire."
"Right, thank you so much," Lydia nodded her head. She made a mental note to at least call Rae so that they could talk about this. Hopefully it wouldn't cause her to lose her best friend. She raised the cup to her lips and took a small sip which made her almost gag at the taste of it. She thought at first that it was just because she wasn't used to it but she had it last night and it tasted fine."Hey, can blood like maybe spoil?"
Rebekah frowned and took the cup back from Lydia, taking a sip of her own and tasting it before shaking her head."It tastes fine. Besides, it is fresh. You probably are not used to drinking it yet."
"Yeah, probably," Lydia mumbled as she took the cup back and Rebekah sent her a small smile as she walked away, placing her hand on her shoulder and letting it fall off when she passed by.
Lydia took a deep breath and raised the cup to her lips once again, wanting to get it over with. She still wasn't quite sure how to drink blood. If it was like food to a human, should she sit down and drink it? But if it was technically a drink, should she slowly sip it the way she would tea or coffee? Luckily for her, before she could get too lost in her own thoughts she noticed both Kol and Klaus emerging from the hallway as well, involved in a conversation that stopped the second they saw her.
