question of the chapter: out of pure curiosity, will any of you be reading my klaus fanfic when i post it?

Klaus didn't know what to say as he stared ahead at a face that he had said goodbye to months ago. He knew that Kol said she was still alive somewhere, but it didn't seem real until now. He thought his mind was playing a trick on him or perhaps the sugary rosé had more alcohol than he thought. Over two months ago, Klaus said goodbye to Lydia. He saw her die, he pushed the stake through her heart. Yet here she was. Clear as day. Alive and well. She was covered in dirt, which was to be expected. Her hair was messy and she was still wearing the dress that she was buried in. Klaus didn't have to say anything. Lydia did first.

"Nik! Hey!" Lydia said as she threw her arms around him, pulling him into a tight hug. He didn't know which was more surprising. That he just watched his dead best friend rise from the dead or that she hugged him, something she hadn't done in a while. She was happy and welcoming, like she just came back on vacation."I missed you!"

Klaus was frozen in his spot, like he had been glued to his spot. He shook himself out of his trance, pulling away from Lydia and placing his hands on her forearms, holding her away to get a good look at her.

"How have you forgotten to hug already?" Lydia asked teasingly, though Klaus knew a part of her was serious.

"Lydia, you. . . " Klaus managed to get two words out, but he couldn't bring himself to say anything.

"Well, after I spoke with Kol I realized he was right, Bonnie figured that a Bennett switch was needed and killed Kai, but then he came back and tried to stop us but I killed him again, Bonnie performed the spell and I'm here!" Lydia answered rather cheerfully."Oh! Snow! It's been the same weather every day for the last few months. No rain, no different breeze, no- not the point. I'm here! Alive! Well, I'm a vampire so I guess I'm not actually alive. What is our status?"

Klaus didn't get a chance to respond before Lydia's eyes trailed down to the ground where she dropped suddenly, causing Klaus to jump slightly, thinking that something was wrong. He forgot that Bubbles was there and the second Lydia realized that, she swooped him up in her arms,

"Bubbles!" Lydia squealed excitedly as Bubbles licked her cheek."Aw, my baby! I missed you so much. Yes I did! I hope Nik looked after you while I was gone."

"I did," Klaus confirmed, feeling relieved that Bubbles wasn't his responsibility anymore.

"We should probably get back home," Lydia said once she had finished kissing Bubbles' head and hugging him. Lydia turned to leave, but she was stopped by Klaus.

"Lydia," Klaus said her name suddenly. She paused and turned to face him, waiting for him to say something. Klaus wanted to tell her what he said the day of her funeral, he wanted to apologize and make things right between them right then and there. But he remembered that there were people back home who Lydia needed to see. People who deserved to be in her life, unlike him.

"Kol is leaving for Oregon, we must hurry," Klaus said instead, watching as Lydia frowned and nodded her head quickly, walking away again with Bubbles still in her arm and Klaus following behind.

Lydia began to feel nervous as she approached the manor. She didn't know why. This was her home, and the people behind the walls all wanted to see her. She would be welcomed here, but for so long she wasn't. Not by Klaus and not by Rebekah. Stepping back into the manor while they were all there felt like she was going back in time when she was so dependent on them. She wanted to have them back in her life, but not like before.
