Lydia sat alone at the wooden table, twirling the silver spoon in her fingers around a bowl of yogurt and fresh berries that she made for breakfast twenty minutes ago. She thought it would be a good way to cheer herself up. It was always one of her favourite meals to eat during breakfast, but it didn't work, which would worry anyone who cared about her. Lydia was extremely easy to cheer up. She was excitable. Just seeing her favourite flowers or feeling the warm sun dance across her face after a rainy day was enough to cheer her up. But since she awoke this morning, nothing seemed to cheer her up because everything she saw was somehow related to Kol.

For instance, Lydia looked at the bowl in front of her and remembered the days Kol would make this for her or they would sit at the kitchen table and eat together. And when she thought about Kol, she thought about breaking up with him for a second time, despite not even getting back together. She knew this was the right thing to do. It was the only thing to do. Kol didn't want Lydia and Lydia shouldn't want Kol because of what he said. So why was it eating her up inside? Over a day later and she wasn't feeling any better. That wasn't a lot of time, but she had hoped that it would ease just a little bit.

Elena stayed with Lydia for the day since Lydia didn't want to be alone. So Lydia was glad that Elena agreed to stay and fell asleep in her bed, just like she used to when they were kids. But Lydia was an early riser compared to her sister and so she decided to make herself breakfast and try to start the day on a good note.

The whole time, Lydia hadn't heard anything from Kol. She didn't even see him or know where he was. She assumed that he was on his way back to New Orleans where his brothers were. Where his life was. A life without her.

With a tired sigh, Lydia dropped the spoon into the bowl and ran her fingers through her tangled hair, pushing it behind her back. She hoped that things would get easier soon because she couldn't handle living like this. She didn't have Kol. She had no clue what she was going to do with her life and she was still mourning a past life when this house wasn't so damn empty.

"Well, aren't you up early?" Lydia heard a voice from the entry to the kitchen, one that she was glad to hear, but still surprised her and caused her to jump up in her spot. Her head snapped in that direction where Klaus stood, leaning against the door.

"Why does your entire family love to sneak up and scare me?" Lydia scowled, annoyed that he had surprised her.

"Yes, blame me for your terrible senses," Klaus chuckled as he shifted away from the doorway and moved forward towards the kitchen table, placing his hands on the back of one of the chairs. Klaus narrowed his eyes at her, analyzing her, but she didn't know what for."No rushing towards me with a hug? No shock that I am here? Not even a smile? My, this is concerning."
