Lydia didn't get many moments to herself to fully think and relax. She was always being pushed to do something or was giving herself something to do. Even in her own bedroom, she found herself always on her phone or working on a drawing. This was the first time in a while that she was truly alone and in all honesty, she liked it. It was quiet out in the woods, the only sounds came from birds flying by occasionally, the rushing water below her or the wind that would blow the leaves on the ground. It was cold and she was somewhat uncomfortable at first, but she grew used to it and now she almost felt numb.
For some reason, all parts of her that were worried about something just shut off. She wasn't scared to be alone in a forest when it was getting dark, she wasn't thinking about her family or Jace. She felt peace. Lydia understood why Kol liked it out here on the bridge, there was nothing to distract her or interrupt her thoughts. It was just her. At least it was for a bit.
"You are giving everyone quite the scare, Dia," Kol's voice rang out through the quietness of the area, causing Lydia to jump in her spot and shriek slightly, not expecting to hear anyone talk to her which only caused Kol to chuckle and move closer towards her.
"Sorry, did I kinda steal your spot?" Lydia responded rather sheepishly, looking up at Kol after she realized it was only him.
"No. You are more than welcome here, I would not have showed you otherwise," Kol told her, bending down and sitting on her right, placing his legs over the edge of the bridge and letting them dangle over the water."I came because your family is looking for you."
"I don't have the energy to deal with them," Lydia admitted with a small sigh and shake of her head. They were exhausting. They left her alone all the time and then wanted to insert themselves into her business.
"What about me?" Kol asked, tilting his head to the side so he could look at her.
"As long as you don't annoy me about opening up. . ." Lydia trailed off, shivering slight from the cold which she just started feeling again.
"All I wanted was to make sure you were safe," Kol admitted."I figured you would come here and I wanted to make sure you were not wandering around by yourself. I'm glad this is where I found you. It is a good place to clear your head."
"It is," Lydia nodded her head."Though I did most my thinking on the walk over here." The place wasn't too far from her house, but the walk took her the better part of an hour. It would have been a lot faster if she still had her car.
"You could have called me, I would have drove you," Kol reminded her, knowing she didn't have a car, but he would have driven her even if she did.
"I didn't want to be a bother," Lydia shrugged her shoulders. Though it was true, it was easier for her to say that than explain that she didn't want to talk to anyone at the time she left.
